Amy's Josie was kind of directionless her first months on the show..partly.due to her planned story changing (she and Matt were supposed to be repaired..but Matt/Donna were so popular..it was nixed). She had an uneventful romance with Ian..before being rebranded as a cop...which I could kind of buy. She and Gary had chemistry, and the rest is history. I felt worse for her replacement because she didn't have Sharlene, Frankie or even the original Gary to act opposite of...so she never got the audience to accept her. rumor had it if the show hadn't ended...she and Matt were going to be repaired. And she had chemistry with Matt Crane so it might have worked.

I often think Pam Long would have done better writing the Lockridges..especially Augusta/lionel...than the Capwells.

Kyle has always been a non entity... when kim left after season 5...most of kyle's season 6 and 7 were still about Kim...and with LVP gone...kyle is now having to provide her life..and she has nothing to give.

What before she left in November 1983...Pam Long seemed like she was starting a war of the Rose's divorce story with Alan and Hope..than poof.. Hope was gone. After the way Marland diluted Hope..it seemed as if Long was finally caught giving Hope some character again. It seemed like Kobe was more the problem than Long during this time frame.

I always viewed the Lockridges as a closer family....that at the core..were richer than the Capwells. Augusta always felt she was 2nd choice to Sophia, Lionel always felt C.C. was more successful.....yet if both of them hadnt spent time keeping up with the Capwells..they would have realized what they had was good. Laken #2 nor #3 weren't given enough time to develop...while Warren #1 was wasted yet had the most potential..while Warren #3 was given attention yet wasn't the best character to lead the show.

Zimmer is a spotlight hog...hence her sticking her nose in all these lives..etc. In regards to Watros, I think it was on Zimmer's side...more so than Watros. With wright..seems like 2 peas in a pod. Early Cassie had more edge and should have stayed that way. To me...Wrights best role was ally on Loving/ The city.

Sutton isn't likable and I'm cool with it. She's being herself and on a show with phonies..it's refreshing. Why isnt Teddi a friend of? She brings nothing..not even annoyance. At least Erika and Dorit illicit some reaction from people. I wouldn't mind Rinna talking of her daughters issues..if it was her daughter talking about it. Let her daughter control the narrative

When watching the triad video of Jill... seeing Brenda Dickson, Deborah Adair, and Jess Walton playing Jill.... shows that it isn't always the writing.. but how the actor reads the words that determine the direction of a character. Even when DA was trying to camp it up, she still played a softer Jill... while Brenda was almost cold in her delivery.. while Jess had a combo of the camp of Brenda.. with a fiery undertone. Same with seeing the three Ashley's... Eileen was harsh on the outside/fragile on the inside.. Shari was just plain hard/cold... and Brenda was soft on the outside/made of steel on the inside (Brenda was my fav Ashley).

The Doctors Discussion Thread
The few December 1979 episodes has most of the focus on the hospital..which I like. Ashley seems interesting so far, and was Jack and Carolee have a nice rapport. As much as I like Zimmer as Nola... having her on the show with no ties to the hospital kind wasn't smart. I think it would have been better to tie her to the hospital more...imho

I'd never seen Gwyn #2 in action except for a few episodes here and there. For viewers who saw the show in full..how did her Gwyn differ? I've heard when the original gwen came back..that it was jarring at first...how so? Plus in the Ava battle... Roya's Ava was an Erica clone...and Lisa's Ava was more Scarlet O'hara....plus I think Lisa matured Ava especially in the final months of Loving...imho

I'd rather see a balance between drama and little moments on these shows. I'm wondering if some of the early stuff was cut due to Sutton being downgraded?

When Tesreau was playing Mindy in the 80s, did her Mindy have many scenes with Alex? I do recall one scene when Spaulding/Lewis were fighting.. and Alex was concerned about Mindy.. but I don't recall any other scenes. I do know when Simms played Mindy.. her and Alex had numerous scenes right before and during the affair with Roger. I do recall Simms came in to finish the Will Jefferies story, plus play out the end of her/Rusty's connection... but for several months it seemed like the show didn't know what to do with her. I recall Beth tried fixing her up with Neil, even her going as Daniel St. John's plus one to a few events while Rick was jealous.. but nothing popped for Simm's Mindy until the Roger affair.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I view Gwyn becoming more 'frumpy ' as a form of mourning for Trisha. After all, she and Trisha always had a difficult relationship so she felt guilt and grief. She also became a mother hen to Janie, and later Steffi as a way to satisfy the mother instinct. In 1995, when Trisha is revealed as alive, gwyn has hope for a second chance..but when Trisha rejects her...gwyn goes over the edge...hence the Loving murders. It made sense she was the killer..killing to relieve pain.
