Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I wish OC would resume filming...allow one or two camera people in each home..and film the women on Quarantine..it would be more interesting than the numerous contrived gatherings now populating the shows. I loved Garcelle with her girlfriends because it seemed authentic and no other housewife was there. It reminded me of the early years before stupid fights broke out in each episode.

I can agree with that. Long did well on SFT, Texas and GL..because those shows were more warm and earnest. SB was more west coast and quirky.

I think the focus on the University was a good idea, and that could have been the element to separate it from the other soaps. About the going ons at the college..faculty, students (townies and out of town students), parents of the students, alumni, and financial contributors...could have been a strong soap, etc. However, the powers that be eventually went in the traditional family oriented set up..but had been done to death already.

I've always given Pam Long slack when it came to her 10 month stint on the show. She inherited a critically ill show that had stupidly relied on just one couple at the expense of everyone else. So I think she did the best she could.

My mom did the same thing when she saw Lisa Brown on ATWT and exclaimsd 'omg, Nola!'. I do wonder if one of the reasons the show let Nadine go was because they got NOLA back? It seemed like Nadine was a place holder for NOLA especially when Long stopped writing the show. Nola and Nadine would have been fun to play as sidekicks..especially against Vanessa

Season 2...such a sad overcast..hence why Brandi was a welcome presence during that season.

Ratings from the 80's
I'm surprised GL maintained their ratings into 1985...when the show started losing focus.

Look into the past - 1975
Claudette was a busy girl in 1975...and I can see from reading this why she was brought back later on...a lot of threads established here with Phil amd Erica..that was explored later when she returned. From watching Depriests 'The Doctor's' stint...she was good with action...and May 1975 certainly kept the ball rolling. I do recall hearing that she adjusted the Felicia character. I like all the Peggy mentions on Y & R..she's usually never mentioned in plots till 1977 or so...so nice to see some mention here. I do agree Lorie was probably put in the Jill/philip sphere as a red herring. Bill bell did that alot..he did that with Jed Saunders in the 90s when Nina thought he was her dad..than he was put in Nikki and Jill's orbit later on.

I loved kim and kyle's season 1 sisterly vibe especially when they went grocery shopping...with Kim proclaiming her love of 'I can't believe it's not butter '....and LVP marveling at the product. However, in season 1..you saw Kyle flexing about how superior she was to Kim..etc. and that limo scene..I didn't see a sister frustrated with her alcoholic sister...but someone full of hate and venom. Oddly, people were more on Kim's side than Kyle's side. Also, when Kim.comes for visits..you wonder will we see sober Kim, drunk Kim, or loopy Kim.

From what I heard...Depriest kept things going.. and I think she wrote the climax of the bigamist story for LOL. I love reading Y & R..and seeing lots of mention of Peggy..and her reactions to Lorie, Jennifer, Leslie, etc.

Rhonda seemed to be sexier, laidback and more confident. She probably would have been canned when Nixon took over...imho.

I recall when Denise Pence made her mini YouTube vids years ago..she described the Dobson's as more collaborative..while Marland seemed a micromanager and rigid. And while he plotted good stories, his micro managing the script writers showed. I often found some of episodes kind of tedious when he head wrote. It was stilted and not natural some of the words and interactions. On a show like ATWT..it seemed to fit the show....but GL was a more emotional show...and going from the Dobsons to Marland was seamless except for the dialogue. When I watch a Pam Long episode..there is an energy and warmth that I find lacking under Marland.

I'm wondering if this mysterious silent friend on NY was signed when it looked like Tnsley was leaving (she did leave during filming..yes?)

NY without Bethenny has been heaven sent. If I were Nene, I'd be worried because she technically isn't an OG anymore because she quit for 2 seasons..and those 2 seasons had a lot of good conflict and content. In other words, she needs an attitude adjustment stat. BH without LVP is refreshing because no more takedowns of LVP anymore. Kyle doesn't seem happy....in season 1, she seemed happier when they didn't have the huge house, etc. Though her 1st confessionals in season 1 hinted she was vyle..when she said if jobs she had as an actress pissed her off..she'd have a baby and retire.

I'm wondering if Liz Hubbard not liking how Marland wrote Lucinda was due to the fact that his preference was the Snyder's were good...hence why Lily kept going on and on about the Synder's being good.while Lucinda could do no right. I haven't seen a lot of pre Marland episodes with Lucinda...but I saw a closer Lucinda/lily relationship.
