  1. I am surprised that Steve Burton got involved in reposting Kirsten's statement as I didn't even know if he and Frank got on that well. Unless Chad Duell was promised in writing that he could return whenever he wanted, I don't think there's anything to complain about. It's not the same situation as whatever is going on with Kirsten.
  2. I thought the Bobbie material was very early 2024...I'm not sure what the qualifying period is. I can't think of any supporting performance Kate has had in the past year. She's a lead.
  3. I agree, and I rarely would praise Easton. I hope Jane Elliot did not submit as otherwise what a travesty she wasn't nominated. Vernee Watson was also a natural for supporting actress. Mulcahey used her so well (sadly and unsurprisingly that hasn't continued).
  4. These are such thin nominations, it's a shame they didn't make an effort to throw a few to Neighbours. I guess they just didn't give a damn (and supposedly Neighbours didn't bother to promote to US media anyway). Do any of you watch The Bay? What did Olivia d'Abo do to get a nomination after so many years in the industry? Some odd nominations like Greg Rikaart (wasn't he just getting ass and running a failed soap - how is that lead material), and several played out Y&R ladies. Was Laura Wright a lead this year? What would she submit? Michael's burns, maybe. Kate Mansi was not a support. I'm glad for Gregory Harrison, NLG and Blake Berris. Considering some of the names on the list, this is a year I would have actually thrown Michael Easton in. He did some of his best work in Finn's last few weeks. So this explains about Neighbours. Thanks. A shame, although I guess it doesn't make much difference, the show is ending soon anyway. If Jonathan is in there, I wonder why Alexa Havins isn't. She was more deserving than a few on the list.
  5. I wonder if Gary was that popular or if the actor just felt he was. You could see the toning down of Blake even in Sherry's last few months. I don't know if they ever said what happened to Vaughn (I'd never really seen much of him but then I haven't watched some of those episodes in decades). Holly keeps working at WSPR up to 2003 or 2004. I think she then goes back to the Journal and briefly almost helps run Spaulding from what some here have said (I was not watching by then) until the character abruptly disappears. WSPR is on the show to the end. I believe Vanessa is the last owner. Regarding Holly and Meg, not knowing where she is leads Holly to crack up. When Fletcher returns briefly in 1999 Meg is with him. Holly gets some access to her but she is put in a special school, IIRC.
  6. Thanks @Maxim Supposedly there were backstage issues with Sarah so that may also be why the material is a mess. I'd never watched that Dorian scene. Dorian in therapy is a no-brainer but not that common. It's very Dorian that the therapy does not really help her but leads her to redirect her obsessions and anger to another target. Doug Marland therapy this ain't. I love how Elaine Princi played that last moment. So big but also fitting.
  7. I still wonder if that was the plan last year, but I guess we'll never know.
  8. I always wonder if I missed the good years with Ava because I often hear her fans talk about how her stories and pairings are beneath her (even this Cody story which isn't really a big deal) - I love Maura West and I can't claim I sat around watching all of Ava's material over the years, but so much of what I have seen with the character just seems like a mess, maybe aside from moments like when Kukla or Kiki or whoever was murdered.
  9. I can see where fans might be tired of villainous characters who always win, but I'd agree there is still room for Drew and Willow at the present time and with some tweaking they could go on for a while. You've mentioned before about some fans just not wanting conflict for characters, and I do think that's true in a number of cases.
  10. Me too. It must have been so tough replacing Carolee Campbell.
  11. Jake Weary (ex-ATWT) will be on Locher Room tonight.
  12. Her last two appearances were in July 1998 when Mac and Felicia got married.
  13. She has her moments, but most of her good material is already behind her. I think Rauch was just trying to dump a lot of people and Tylo was an easy exit, and Nola and J were not important enough to need to address his exit. There may be some mentions and I just forgot about them...
  14. Thanks @safe what a great find.
  15. That actually would make sense, especially given Michael's instability. I suppose they can't resist tormenting Sasha. It's so depressing to watch but it's also why I probably have a soft spot for the character.
  16. I had forgotten Hendrickson was even on GH. Then again I keep forgetting she's been on Y&R for...is she still on there? So that explains it. You'd think he would care more about giving Rota story or character that might last rather than just giving his wife a throwaway part. I wonder if Willow has any thought beyond being jealous of Sasha so wanting to take her child to punish her since she lost her own kids.
  17. @alwaysAMC Glad to see the mini-reviews again. Sad to say I don't even know if Hearst would have sold it as he didn't have as much Bauer interaction as he should have, but he would have tried. Don Stewart fit back in so well, they really should have capitalized on it and at least had him as a recurring figure. I think to fully enjoy Harley's return you'd have to know her history on the show. They dipped heavily into this (much more than I had expected, especially with Josh and Reva). The scenes with Harley and Reva got some soap press praise at the time, rightfully so. This complicated history isn't really used when she returns full time - I think the work here may be down to the interim writers having more history with the show than the writers who joined in a few months. The ball is also Michael Tylo's final appearance as Quint. He was abruptly fired, no exit, and I don't even remember if he was ever mentioned again until Nola's return in 2009. He deserved at least a proper exit, given how important he'd been to the early '80s for GL, but that's what we were getting by this point with P&G.
  18. Thanks for sharing. I like how you work some of Irna's quotes and thought processes in with the struggles of a soap today. And this is a great quote about execs - temporary people making permanent decisions who didn't know what they didn't know.
  19. Sorry if this was already posted (it has been up for 9 years so it may have been and I just forgot about it). It's an interview with Jada Rowland. The play briefly shown in this was written about at the time by Daily TV Serials, SOD, Daytime TV, etc. There are a few short glimpses from Search for Tomorrow, although I think those were already put on Youtube by Ann Williams' family. @vetsoapfan
  20. I think the first for AMC would be Ted Brent. Jim Lowell died in a boating accident. Irna did not want to kill him, she wanted Jim and Edith Hughes (who had had an affair causing his wife to finally agree to divorce him) to be happy, but P&G ordered her to kill him. Edith was Irna's proto-Kim. Frank Ryan was meant to die, until the flashbacks they filmed of him in happier times with his family changed their mind. Mary always treated Delia like garbage, from childhood. That Secret Storm choice was very brave, definitely.
  21. The first for ATWT might be Jim Lowell. The first for Secret Storm would be Ellen Ames. The first for Ryan's Hope was Ed Coleridge. I think the first for Guiding Light might be Bob Lang for TV, although I can't remember if he died on the TV show. Does anyone know? I'm not sure who the first would be for radio GL. The first for Search for Tomorrow would be Keith Barron.
  22. I saw a clip of Lulu confronting Jason over his praising Britt to Rocco. It was another example of the subtle shift toward Jason being more of an equal to other characters instead of the word of the big G (Guza), even though I know we were meant to side with his version of Britt more than Lulu's. They've managed to keep Brook Lynn vs Lulu more balanced than I thought they could, although I'm not sure how much further the rivalry can go unless Brook Lynn falls in love with Dante. (Dante at times seems like an afterthought)
  23. I would have loved being on the set the day Jane Wyman got that ridiculous wig. Poor Michael Swan. Not sure he would have been worse than Foxworth, although as with all his non-Scottish accent roles, he's lacking charisma. They made so many changes, but whichever queen at Lorimar brought in Lorenzo Lamas and Billy Moses did the 1981 version of this at any discussion about them: And good for him.

Thanks. Never heard of this show.
