DAYS: Who do you think should play Phillip?

With Kyle Brandt (Phillip) set to leave Days of Our Lives, sources say the show put out an offer to his predecessor, Jay Kenneth Johnson. Johnson, however, declined. The actor, who recently signed with new agents, will guest-star on an upcoming episode of CSI:Miami, playing a male model. A Days rep had no comment.

I wouldnt mind a break from Phillip for awhile. Maybe later see how Kyle is feeling about returning with a villian streak in him.

SOW reports this week they offered the role back to the original Phillip...Jay Johnson I think and he declined.

I wish Kyle Brandt would stay as Phillip. A good re-cast might be David Tom (ex Billy, Y&R, ex-Paul, AMC & OLTL) or Jason-Shane Scott (ex-Will, OLTL) or Jay Wilkison (ex-Riley, OLTL).

No recast - just kill limp biskit Phil.

No recast, just write him out, especially if Jay Johnson won't return.

No need for Philip unless you take him out of the Shelle mess.

Rest him for a bit with JKJ not coming back and then bring him back after awhile once they see if they can get Kyle back. If not then they will just have to recast but I do think they should write the character off for a bit with Jay turning down Days.

I really hope Kyle changes his mind and stays. I think one of the reasons he wants to leave is the crap story they've given him?

I think Jay Johnson would be completely wrong for the role now. The way Philip has "developed" I think Kyle is definitely Philip now. :(

They should just give the damn character a rest. He's barely used as it is. Kyle's finally growing on me. I've always liked him, but as Philip, he left a lot to be desired, but meh, he won me over when he showed with material he can do pretty well.

I know Kyle Brandt loved him some faux-Iraq war storyline (I know, I don't get it either), so if he's looking for an acting gig along those lines, DAYS obviously isn't the place to be. Can't say I blame him for being disappointed in his role, however. With a last name like Kiriakis, Philip should have been so much more than he was made to be under Kyle's portrayal.

Jay Johnson was precious, and he breaks my heart with his decline. His Philip was well on his way to becoming the ultimate "shades of gray" male lead that you could see being the son of Victor Kiriakis. I hope the casting directors take into account this character's bloodline while searching for Kyle's replacement. Philip should be a powerhouse character and should be played by an actor who can handle that.

I think Phillip should exit, I think they should retire the character for a few years. There's no need to kill him but he's pretty unsympathetic these days and he'd just be filling a slot if you ask me. Phillip should go off in the service or whatever.

Too bad Jacob Young is not available. Could you imagine what an actor like him could do to Phillip. Surely the writers could make him a more sympathetic villian than JR Chandler is.

Here are some choices of vets who might could handle to role. I am trying to pick from ones similar to the look of the other Phillips, but I never have figured out where the casting directors got Phillip's looks when his parents and the majority of his siblings have dark hair and all. But oh well, maybe they know more about genetics than I do - but to me neither of the Phillips resembled his other family members.

Michael Graziadei (would be good too but not available)

John-Paul Lavoisier (would be okay too but not available right now either)

Bryan Buffington (a littler darker hair but might be okay)

Tommy J. Michaels (lastly from AMC - might be okay)

Justin Torkildsen (might be okay as Phillip)

Ryan Carnes (would be good too - he is just a year or so younger than the Kyle Brandt)

Craig Lawlor (might be okay as Phillip - same age as Ryan Carnes above)

I think Kyle looks very similar to what a young Victor would look like. It's his jaw line and firmness of expression and his build. His hair is different colors, darker sometimes, lighter. I think Kyle is a perfect cast of Philip, I wondered about his eye and hair coloring, too, but genetics covers many generations in those areas. If Philip is recast, I hope it will reflect more of Victor than Kate.

Days would be lucky to get Michael Graziadei. He's great, big fan of his. It'd be interesting to see him on Days. He's the right age, but he does look like an older teen, early 20s.

Seeing Jacob Young play JR the last few years, I don't know if I can see him play a sympathetic character

I liked Jay Johnson, but looks-wise, I think Kyle fits the role better. And Jay was Philip back when he was in the middle of Phloe/Broe <_< and all that teen drama, that the characters are completely different now which is one of the reasons Farah and Jason don't really fit anymore. Martha and Kyle look like young adults, while Jason and Farah look like they should still be in college.
