GL: Kreizman Quote...

By the way, while we are discussing GL. I just read in SOD that Reva needs a bone marrow transplant. I thought she had BREAST cancer, not something like lukemia! Usually, the treatment for breast cancer is either chemotherapy, radiation, or a mastectomy, where they surgically remove the entire breast.

Are you serious?! UGH! I was hoping this cancer storyline would be done with by the end of summer.

To look at it at a different perspective..maybe he thinks the stuff he's putting on air are what viewers wanna see but not necessarily what he wants to see...

Hey Junkie, nice to see ya back.

I just downloaded the GL: LITE to accomodate the shows I make for my iPod. I happened to listen to that one and was caught TOTALLY offguard by that remark. So much so, I had to rewind it and make sure he said what I thought he did.

If he is putting stuff on the air the viewers would like to see, he could at least write stories that he, personally, would enjoy to see with characters people want to see. If he can't write for the characters the show need, then he needs to give the reins to someone more capable.

Sheesh, what does Kreizman do when he works out? Someone should tell this man to get an iPod and listen to the podcasts while he works out. He can AT LEAST keep up with the show that way.

Remember: You too could have Ellen Weston back as headwriter.

Or even Reilly.

Given those two options, David's still my guy.

At least they like their work enough to watch it.

Didn't they say a while ago that Reva's cancer had spread to her lymph nodes? If so, then isn't it possible that her cancer could very well get into her blood? I'm no doctor so I don't know for sure but I do know that cancer can spread to other parts of the body.

Hey Junkie, nice to see ya back.

Thanks! :) I've caught up with all the Jammy scenes but I'm dying to see all the Reva/Dr. McCabe and Josh/Cassie (aka 'Cash') stuff. I discovered that the only show that got recorded while I was away was the July 3rd show. :( Are there any clips anywhere???

As for writing stories he'd be interested in seeing for characters people want to see..maybe he thinks he's doing just that but he still doesn't care about those characters enough to watch. I know if I were writing a soap and trying to provide more balance by including characters I might not necessarily care for...I wouldn't be as motivated to read over them and would just want to get those scenes over with and move on. Unfortunately, I don't really see that happening...in some cases, yes..but in others, things drag and boring stories are given too much airtime.

How about actors? Not all actors watch their scenes due to too much self-criticism or whatever...but if they wanted to improve or to know what to keep or what to ditch, shouldn't they, too, be watching themselves everyday?

It wouldn't really bother me if Kreizman said he didn't watch the entire show because he didn't have enough time but I think he actually said he FF to the "interesting parts". If he's bored w/ any part of the show, that should tell him something.

honestly, I didnt think any writer watches their show everyday

 I'm sure other HWs are guilty of the same thing.

You are SO right...

But I think that fact he is admitting it shows not guts, but an utter lack of any kind of imtelligence on his part. How can you work in a vacuum? Doesn't he realize that something that looks great on the page could turn out to be completely doo-doo on the screen? Is he that dense?

I find listening to my radio soaps invaluable and if I did video as well, I would have even more reason to watch. You picture a story a certain way when you write it, but you really have to see how that translates on screen and how the actors deliver the lines to know how success it is. You gain so much insight by doing this. I can't believe he doesn't watch the entire show. That means he's relying on someone else to tell him what is or is not working.

I would hope that David is also raising his family and WRITING!

There are enough checks and balances to see things happen the way they are suppose too.

I would expect the breakdown writers to watch every scene but not sure the HW needs to. I thought the HW was in charge of the storyline.

Besides if he's waiting 2 or 3 weeks after the day has been filmed that's way too late to make tweaks. They need to be watching some of the dailys.

James E. Reilly has said he watches PSNS, DAYS, GL, and GH every day. He's said this on multiple occassions.

I'm also under the impression that most of the HWs don't watch their show. I believe we've heard this from several. It's really not a big deal to me.

Other HWs may not watch their show, but they don't go out and announce it. That's like if you work for a grocery store and try to get other people to shop @ your store, yet you go to Wal-Mart. I know a small example.

I mean come on! If the guy who is writing this stuff isn't watching and then publicly says he don't watch, why does he except viewers to watch? HUH???????

And about him raising a family. Why doesn't he just work watching GL into his schedule at the office. You know, like someone else said it's 37-40 w/commercials and those AWFUL, AWFUL "Inside the Light" segments where the actor/actress talks about basically nothing of importance.

And the Wednesday episodes are nothing to smile at, the concept while good in the beginning I think has grown old very fast. Yes it's a gimmick, but not a good one.

Write stories we care about and actually watch those stories play out and see if you can find anything new to pull from them.

It's morning and I'm still pissed @ him!

I've got every episode this month in a folder at Rapidshare

http://rapidshare.de/users/TLSRQM/5

The password is rvds in lowercase letters. Just go in the July 2006 folder for the list of clips.

You can check out CBS's update archive to see which episodes you want to see:

See, that's what's bad about the writers today: they don't watch the show! How the hell are they going to know the finished product? Between the editing alone, I'm sure that half of the stuff they write doesn't make air. You don't know how your work is going to turn out until you actually see it.

If he can't squeeze in 30-something minutes to watch the show everyday, then I shudder to think of how much time he actually spends on storylines.

I remember watching a clip of GL behind-the-scenes, from the late-80s, and they showed the writers and mentioned that at 3 PM every day, they all sat down and watched the show. Is it any wonder why the show was good back then? It's not that hard to do: just everyone take a break during 3 (or whenever the show is on) and watch it together. Hell, I'm sure they could get a copy and FF through the commercials if they wanted to...you know, b/c they need all the time they can get creating those amazing storylines of theirs. ;)

I'm sure that the other HWs don't watch their soaps either, but at least they have the common sense to STFU about it.

Well, he's not the only one. I don't watch it either, nor do I DVR it so I can fast forward.
