I love it when questions like this are asked, and we can learn about a show's history without having to google and try to find things out from bunches of different sites.....It's also fun to read the different things people remember about what's happened in the past....

CMS was pretty popular as Kayla (there was some fan outcry when she was let go), but I think there might have been a writer change at the time and the writers didn't quite know what to do with her, which prompted them into writing her out of the show (if I remember correctly). I think the same thing happened with Sandy Horton around the same time. I think Kayla was reintroduced (with MBE) as part of the storyline surrounding the kidnapping of Shane & Kim's son Andrew (once thought to have been fathered by Victor). She was working as a nurse in Chicago for a doctor who (I think) might have been involved in the baby's abduction (or selling). Steve, who was Victor's hired goon at the time, was supposed to terrorize her. She returned to Salem for safety (I think).

That's pretty much the way it was, then Kayla was offered a job in Salem and decided to stay.

She was, and I can remember her as Kayla, but her storylines are all a blurr to me for some reason. I know she was involved with Chris and David, and she was close to Bo (I think Kayla always was), but that's all I can remember.

I love it when an actor/actress wants to stay 'true' to their character on a soap. It shows that they care about them as much as the fans do.

I heard she was liked but only had lukewarm "popularity" (a little trivia: she had a relationship with Peter Reckell, her on screen brother, in real life.) Kayla was always the third wheel in a triangle back then.

MBE really defined Kayla for the audience: when most long time viewers think of Kayla, it is her face they

see.
