Honestly, this Hayle story has been made up as they go along. I don’t think this was the original intention for Bill/Hayley, even if they always planned for Dani and Bill to hook up again down the roa

Honestly I find much of the show a chore, and quite frankly, unwatchable right now. The other soaps suck as well so I’m not going to act like there’s any better alternative, but this show has serious

All the flashbacks showed was that Ted and Leslie hadn't aged a day in 20 years and Ted had a thing for ugly print shirts.

Normally this is true but I do expect things to look different when they return for season 3. They're taking around a 2 month break I believe and Michele Val Jean had back surgery and is recovering which suggests they aren't writing. There is a good chance things will be different based on the writers having a chance to take a break and refresh.

Also, we don't know if anybody was on a two year contract. If so, it's possible there are people who will quit or get fired. Of course they can come back and it's the same ole, same ole but I do hope they come back refreshed and really take a look at what's working and what could be done better and really give us a strong season 3. There is no excuse because they have a two year renewal so they don't have to hedge on anything.

good that they’re taking a break. wonder how many episodes will be in the can when they do. i’ve always believe taping so far ahead of air has made it difficult to make any changes to this clunky pacing, were they so inclined:)

DAYS being a prime example of filming too far ahead.

Retrospect is clearly a big part of the vision of this show and it adds a sense of realism since people do remember big events on the anniversary of when the occurred and look back on things that shaped the course of their lives.

Andre being so frightened of Heather makes him look too weak. Considering that whatever involvement he had with her is in the past he doesn't need to be afraid of anyone finding out. Of course it's not clear exactly what Heather wants and that could prevent him from telling the truth.

Tomas is terrible at being conniving, but part of that is because the actor doesn't have the skill to meet that assignment. Every line sounds like the PA announcements at a dry cereal factory.

I agree! I am not a fan at all! One show that I do think pulled it off quality wise was Port Charles but look what happened there: it got cancelled during their six months off and they couldn't do a proper finale.

BTG has finished season two so I would imagine they filmed through December. I hate, hate, hate that. I feel like the max should be 3 months so you have time to adjust things as needed. If certain actors pop you may want to pivot and the reverse, if actors don't work or don't work together you might wanna make changes which this format doesn't really account for.

I think that was down to PC doing telenovela style story arcs though. I can see being so far ahead being an advantage if you have a clear vision of a beginning, middle and an end. Plus, even if a story arc was bad on PC, it still had a pace moving forward due to them being three months. I mean, how long has Hayley been poisoning Bill again?

They don’t really care if an actor works or not on this show though.

DAYS being a prime example of filming too far ahead.

Ironically in the 80s and 90s, Days was known as the Chemistry soap (i.e. Supercouple era) because the writers tended to write story/couples based on chemistry they saw onscreen vs keeping strictly to a story bible. Genie Francis remarked that she spent two years trying to make her character on the soap viable, but found she had no help from the writers (while I think the writers were following her lead).. but mentioned when they discovered she had chemistry with Drake H.. she was quickly paired with him instead of Michael T Weiss (Mike Horton). They also weren't afraid to write off a character that wasn't clicking (i.e. Pamela Roylance as Sandy Horton.. even she said she struggled because she was acting based on what the writing was giving her while the writers told her that she needed to give them something to write.. and her chemistry tests with Tony Dimera and Chris K (Josh Taylor) didn't work nor did her friendship/scene chemistry test with Marlena Evans work.. and she was written off after nine months).

Filming so far ahead prevents Days from doing the very thing that made them popular in the ratings in the 80s and 90s.

BTG has already shown that filming so far ahead (four to five months) has hindered them somewhat, while they also seem unwilling/unable to deviate from their planned stories and couplings (i.e Ashley/Andre, Derek/Ashley, this Hayley poisoning Bill story).

I also wonder if maybe that's why the Nicole dating Carlton and Kial story went on so long.. because they filmed so far ahead.. they wanted to see what the audience was leaning to and also to see the chemistry before making a decision. While Nicole/Kial have more chemistry, this stalling derailed Nicole's character arc and she lost momentum as a character. Of the Core 4, she feels almost like a supporting character when the first week set it up that she and Dani were co-leads with Vernon/Anita being strong support (I so want to see Vernon in a story that isn't tied to be Anita's butler... I want to see more of the Vernon that we saw during his interactions with Joey).

Hopefully with this filming break.. the show has assembled a good set of break down and script writers... and come up with a viable season 3 outline that carries over the momentum of season 2 instead of it feeling like how it did at the start of season 2 (a reset of sorts after season 1).
