OT: knh, I watched American Idol too. I had no idea who Melinda was 'til tonight (I haven't been following this season), but from what I saw, I didn't think she'd be the one to go. AI sort of lost all credibility to me when Ruben won over Clay. And I won't even get started on Fantasia and her shrieking (JMO). But Melinda seemed to be really, really good. What year was Jennifer Hudson in it? I liked her too.

Oh, and that YouTube montage--wow. Wow, I have to remember that when I start whining about how bad the acting is on soaps--it was much, much worse in the 70s, and they did it with mutton chop sideburns! And thank you, LnL, for destroying the great music of Chuck Mangione for me. Can you imagine? Scott Clifton is leaving. I don't know more details, SZ posted that his interview is in SID. I hope they'd recast but I doubt they will.

I'm sad, frustrated, angry....but not at all surprised. I think TIIC planned months ago on letting him go, thus bringing on Cooper and Logan.

*sigh* I think we should call the comment line/e-mail/write now and tell them we want a recast, and we want a lot of family interaction before Dillon leaves.

I don't know if it'll do any good, but it can't hurt.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- Scott Clifton feels unimpressed with his performance as Dillon Quartermaine.

According to an exit interview in the newest edition of Soaps In Depth, Scott Clifton reveals the reason why he decided to leave his role of Dillon Quartermaine on ABC's "General Hospital."

Scott originated the role of Dillon in 2003. He, the youngest son of Tracy Quartermaine and a young kid who was trying to find himself and who he was. Georgie Jones (Lindze Letherman) caught Dillon's eye and they soon became the teen couple many fans loved. Dillon found himself involved with Lulu Spencer (Julie Berman) and a controversial abortion storyline last summer. The storyline garnered Scott a Daytime Emmy Pre-Nomination in 2007. Scott has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Best Younger Actor in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Scott comments on his role as Dillon, "For the last few months it's been a struggle to justify really, really poor decisions on his part. Dillon's an idiot lately and he needs to be an idiot for the storyline to work."

He goes on to say in the interview, he had to distance himself, the actor, from his character, to make it all work. "The more I let go of Dillon being a part of me, the more Dillon started to break off and die on his own."

According to the interview, Scott has made it known to "General Hospital" he would be open to going to recurring status to wrap up his current storyline. Clifton also states he wouldn't have a problem if the show decided to recast the role, but would be honored if they kept the door open for him to return in the future.
