The Atlantic recently had an article about conflicts at Stanford. Some on the left are upset that the piece quoted a teaching assistant on his very extreme views about Biden and are doing their best to make him their martyr. Surprise surprise, this man is an extreme social conservative and misogynist. It's telling how many on the dead end left will happily side with people who hate women and lgbt people for the grand cause - likely because many of them not-so-secretly share these views.

This feels even more timely with the same few "don't vote for Biden, he's worse than Trump" Muslim voices in Michigan again and again (yet another New York Times puff piece today).

There is video going around from the "free Palestine" protests at the Biden/Obama/Clinton fundraiser - violently shoving and attacking a (presumably) Jewish man who was trying to get through to see his mother, the usual anti-US chants and saying they want to bring Hamas to run the US, and one with a man shouting misogynist ("c") and anti-Semitic ("k") slurs at a woman. In none of these is there any sense of doubt or hesitation, and none of this is about Palestine. Whatever this movement was meant to be is long co-opted.

I'm seeing some on the left who are angry over Biden trying to get Haley supporters. I would agree it's likely pointless, but when you have such proud bigots who make it clear they will never support Biden and are just fine with Trump, he has little choice.

Most of them genuinely like Trump, and always have. They just don't want to admit it - yet.

Another example of why Biden would probably be better off writing off Dearborn if this and the "abandon Biden" movement are what dominate their choices:

I’m unsure if anyone remembers when I posted in the politics thread about the possibility that this war could go beyond its borders. Back then, the concern was mainly Hezbollah as there was a lot of rockets being fired into Lebanon but in the back of my mind, the possibility of this conflict expanding into Iran has been active and overall, the idea that this war could get much much worse.

I doubt Arab Americans are that dumb. It's easy enough to just skip that race on the ballot. And even then I don't think they lack understanding of the complexity of the issue. But I do know they are not voting for Trump.

I don't think they will get every vote, but the segment of the vote they are courting in Michigan were already shifting to Republicans before 10/7. Many voted for or worked with this lunatic:

Some of the most vocal Michigan Arab voices in the no Biden movement were, IIRC, previous supporters of W, or had also made a point of never supporting Biden or Hillary in 2016/2020. The Gaza crisis was just a cover. And even with Trump's campaign not even making a bare minimum effort, it will probably remain their perfect cover.

I wish Democrats would just take the chance and expel her, even if it would just play into the hands of many in Dearborn and elsewhere who already are voting for Trump anyway. She has always been an attention seeker and doesn't genuinely care about the people of her district. And now she is openly telling people to vote for Trump, even if she tries to be cute about it. There's no reason for her to be in the party.

    • It begs the question; when is a secret room no longer secret? Now that Rafe and half of Salem have been held there, I think it's time for re-branding.

    • Yikes -a Cane/Phyllis sex scene. Why was there no warning before this episode aired? And of course Phyllis had sex with her bra on.  Had to laugh when Cane, trying to think of Phyllis' password to sneak into her laptop, talks out loud so we (and she) can be clued into what's happening. What is Phyllis' financial standing? At one point she was wealthy enough to run a hotel-which she gave up in an instant(can't remember why-some inane reason) Now she's scrounging around for a job with Cane. The many residents of the GCAC who are living in hotel rooms don't seem to do anything to personalize their space-no photos, books etc. The GCAC must have a strict policy on that. Nikki did look good today. Still find her hairstyle a little dowdy though.
    • Then 87 is the year you're looking for. Vanessa leaves town in Jan 88. When I saw Jenny counseling Dinah about George making the pass at her, all I could think was that Van would be pissed Ross' latest fling was advising her daughter. Cop or not.
    • As much as I hate Phyllis, seeing Billy Flynn in those boxers briefs in today's episode, has me almost tolerating her. BF looks

    • Damn, Leslie went in on Shanice... poor girl! Leslie really can't handle stress or certain emotions well, she lashes out. I also think it's weird she wants to know so many details about Eva's love/sex life. Vernon was sweet to June. It was nice (realistic) to see a customer complain to her though while she's still trying to establish herself. I'll be that guy, but for me personally, my enthusiam/excitement over the show has stalled yet again over the last couple weeks. For the majority, it seems like we're in a holding pattern until Winterfest. It's like they don't want to rock the boat or do much until then, which leaves us in a quiet period here. Are sweeps a thing still these days? Seems odd that we're having a slow November. That ending was good, but I saw that coming... in theory it should have a quick resolution, but I'm guessing Leslie will expose it at Winterfest and it'll get throw out of proportion haha.
    • Yes. Why? I don't really care. Vanessa is also acting dumb, trying to run between tables, on a date with Ross in one room and a business meeting with Alan in another.  One of the few times Van is written as less than the smart woman she was.
