That's sweet. VR helped pave the way for this night. I know black Hollywood is small but I'm curious how she knows LAR. Have they worked together?

VR is directing a BET Christmas movie that LAR is doing rn.

I didn’t watch one minute of this ceremony but congratulations to Mishael Morgan and all the awardees. Clearly Morgan should be getting leading actress caliber storylines. Is she? I am asking viewers because I stopped watching Y&R years ago.

Uh, Frank Valentini is so cringe.

What got me when he said something to the effect of, he doesn't show his face a lot. 🤣I'm like you act like you're one of the talents in front of the camera.

I bet he was busy at the after party trying to scout more out of work Daytime vets to come onto GH

2022 is the first year since 2016 where all the main acting categories have first-time winners.

Happy for Mishael as an idea but it took the death of a genre for them to honor a black woman in the lead category. Do you think they'll give her better writing? No. Give her character more depth? No. Pay her what she deserves? Absolutely not.

So what does that make this? The daytime bubble patting itself for being progressive in a way that absolutely will not matter because nothing will change. Y&R knows damn well the stronghold it has on AA viewers and does. Not. Care.

@Darn— That is just negative - for daytime to thrive — inclusion is a must..  I’m hoping for better days.. pun intended …

Your negative is my reality. I've been watching daytime for my entire life and I've seen the trajectory of black characters and black actors and it has not been good and does not look promising. I'm not gonna let this small victory, a literal gold shiny thing, distract me from how black talent is treated on daytime. Just 3 years ago they refused to pay Mishael her worth and we lost the more interesting of the two characters she's played. What about the history here would make me think they'd do any better now?

Truth. Amanda will continue to be Renee to Phyllis’s Ally McBeal. Love Mishael and she has all the talent to be deserving of a win, but…
