Per the schedule, there were audience tickets available for The Talk through the 18th. Typically, The Talk tapes special episodes in advance and re-uses audience members for those purposes. Also soap stars especially are adapt to releasing social media content when they are told they can, so timing is harder to pinpoint. Was the SoapHub Awards episode live or taped in advance? We'll find out either way soon.

Variety:

Kate Aurthur is a pretty serious reporter for Variety, and her being stumped is surprising:

I feel like GH is in denial and/or cowed by their aged, conservative Facebook-adjacent audience re: Sonny and Jason tbh. Just trying to avoid acknowledging any of this. I think they're desperate to reach a new deal with Steve to vax and are hoping to avoid releasing the truth until they can make one and then claim it's just  'a break'. That or they'll dump it on Friday.

Soaps do not traditionally comment on actor contracts, comings & goings, etc unless it's something they themselves want to promote. This is why when a publication cites "exclusive" it's because they were granted the information first without the show outright being forced to confirm anything with another publication. Additionally, the vaccination status of an actor cannot be revealed by a private employer. We only know the status of celebrities, including their getting COVID, because they open their own mouths and say so.

Just because Deadline, Variety, etc are covering this story in their publications doesn't mean they'll get anything out of the soaps beyond what the soap outlets that are covering the story are able to get unless you count something like what happened with Ingo Rademacher following the transphobic comments.

Right now the exit of a major character is the cover story of SOD which for some reason people still buy. To sell the show and the magazine, viewers have to be led to believe that the characters are going to either find Jason or that Jason will be back down the road. For him to be gone because the actor allegedly didn't get vaccinated won't work for the type of fans that watch soaps, regardless of political leanings. The soaps have an older, more traditional audience more so than any other genre. They aren't as adapt to change like many younger soap viewers would like them to be which is why the transition to the web or streaming is partially due to this demographic.

We can hate the game all we want, but that's how it's played. You either sit it out like some outlets have or you dribble as much as you can until you can get a score. In this instance, the score is hard to come by.

    • I agree.  How many times did we have to watch Bobby vs. J.R., or Blake vs. Alexis, knowing that nothing would change at the end, and that everything would go back to status quo, so that they could fight the same, exhausting battles all over again?  If nothing else, I give FC and KL credit for trying to keep things fresh, even if I think FC, in particular, went too far in the other direction and became unrecognizable even to the most diehard fans. Exactly.  Plus, because viewers were so burned out by the kind of serialized storytelling that was beginning to affect even half-hour comedies, I think MSW represented a nice change of pace.  You didn't have to watch every week, or watch from the beginning of each season, to know what was going on with Miss Fletcher.  Instead, you could watch a complete story in one episode, de-stress from whatever had happened in your own life last week, gear yourself up for the week ahead, and be okay.
    • I saw a conversation yesterday with Liam with the 7 dwarves hat and Steffy -  I know she did not say re: Hope and Liam said - well look at Finn and you forgave him right?      I know I did not hear Steffy say “well but you can’t compare that to…”  For *uck sake someone call the bitch out!?     You’re right, we shouldn’t compare your forgiveness for the dude with devil spawn seed whose daughter locked you in a cage along with crazy stepmom/mom/Grandmother who has also SHOT YOU BOTH - and multiple murder attempts but you have to exist with them / Hope’s part in a takeover which you know was FAR LESS THAN CARTER BECAUSE HOPE IS NOT AN ATTORNEY…. Goodness no, no the same thing at alllllllll.   When they do Steffy’s absence at least let it be because they all find out what a manipulative ho she is in her own right.
    • I think a lot of us still agree with that. I do hope that the resurgence in the soap world with Beyond the Gates will push ABC to either bring back these shows or produce a newer one.
    • So, this was fun. Elsewhere, friendly to polls, a poll on what do you want to see at the Nurses Ball. The Gio reveal got 18%, for Blaze to return & sing also got 18%, for Jennifer Hudson to do a cameo & sing got 10% and for Lucy to lose various parts of clothing got 9% but the huge one was the reveal of Drew/Nina sex which got a whopping 45%!
    •   I liked the effect of the curtains closing. Yeah it was like the end of Act I.   Or maybe they are simply trying to emphasize the drama of the end of an episode -- instead of a random abrupt end that has happened in some prior episodes.
    • I posted this in the behind the scenes thread but I know this thread is busier so wanted to mention it here as well. During their instagram live yesterday, Daphnee Duplaix and Trisha Mann-Grant mentioned that they will find out this month if the show is renewed for another season. Just a heads up so we can keep an eye out for an announcement and keep our fingers crossed for a multi-year renewal!
    • They haven't explained the ownership of the Bistro, but Doug told Holly the other day he didn't get the job there. Basically Roman just hired Doug on the spot and gave him a room.  It was really nice of Roman.  I don't know if he knows who Doug is or that he stole Julie's necklace.  That was unclear-at least to me. ETA-I feel like the Bistro might just die and people will just pretend to order food there like Leo did today.  Sophia is on bed rest so no one works there anymore.  They can use that set for something else.
    • I'm not sure how I felt about it, but I do kind of like that it felt like the show telling us this concludes the first chapter of the series. Could be interesting if they only do it for big aftermath episodes. The biggest mistake with Martin is that it's almost hard to buy his anger because we've gotten no strong scenes with him and his parents. They've all been with Anita/Vernon. I can't even remember him ever even saying one word to Nicole, even in passing.
    •   Thank you! Agreed on both posts. And the comments about Mike Manning are nonsense.
