I would never wish cancellation on this show, there’s still 2 million who look forwar to watching this everyday. And there are actors who have jobs. I can campaign for improvement or stop watching but I don’t want it to be cancelled because I personally don’t enjoy it

I wondered what had happened since the other day.  I'm just reading through the threads and I have to say, I'd have to walk if I were John McCook.  Would have to have the heart to heart with Bell and my coworkers - I hope he doesn't need the money at this stage and took care of his finances, but I'd have to have the talk.  I understand you have families and need to work and enjoy this or whatever reasons, but I'm not a young man and I don't want to be remembered for this.

It's one thing to be asked to play a possession or a clone or whatever but it's another to try and make a storyline out of an old man who can't get it up and pimps his wife out willingly to get her satisfied.  There is just something so gross and vile about this.  

Maybe they could have Wyatt if he's still the social media expert, suggest his Mom wear something from Brooke's Bedroom Line, bring that back, and film her while boinking Carter and accidentally post it to a nice seedy website - like Please Bang my Wife or something.  That would be great.

I feel like they've gone there.  It's just so gross.  I'd have more pride than that.  I've all but quit and found a new job for less than this.  I would not be embarrassed like this.  Who knows, maybe they all like it.  I would not.

They should have just left the divorce as it was. Eric giving permission for this is definitely sending racist cues, an frankly is just skeevy.  Let Eric hook back up with his "Hunny Bear".

The time is long overdue for some characters (Hope, Liam, Wyatt, Flo, Shauna) to go recurring/ sent to Forrester and Spencer in Paris. Bring back Felecia and Dino (The right actress could go toe to toe with Don Diamont, giving HT some competition).

Create an ex love of Justin's with a daughter with "designs" on Thomas. 

Thudley's stories are so tired.  A little bit of new blood could at least kick the show in the ass.

Brooke and Ridge don't have any purpose other than meddle in Eric's marriage. I'm like Ridge don't you have a Spring 2022 collection to work on? 

I would love for Felicia played by someone like Julie Pinson or a former soap vet or out of work primetime star in their 40's/50's. I mean Bill needs someone to cheat on with Katie. And not to mention they're wasting Heather Tom once again meddling in Eric's marriage too. 

I wouldn't mind if they bring on someone to play Mary Warwick. Sheila is forgetting she has two other daughters out there. (I'm not counting those twins she had on YR with Tom Fisher) And what if Mary and Thomas fell for one another? 

Like you said there needs to be new blood to shake things up on the canvas.

This cuckold storyline is literally the blackface of storylines.

Just like blackface, this is a trope that has a long hideous history of racism behind it and regardless of what a white person's intent is in using it now, they absolutely should not.
I don't believe Bell is racist but he is using a story whose subtext is a mix of poisonous cultural stereotypes that has fueled violence and hostility towards black men for centuries (from the overall objectification of People of Color reminiscent of, well slavery, to the "threatening" sexuality of black men and the tropes that go along with it) and I cannot comprehend how someone on his writing staff, on the technical crew, on the cast, at the network didn't stop to tell him that the subtext with those particular characters is just atrocious. 
Not to mention that he is now adding a story where a black character is paid to tattle-tale on the sexual escapades of another black man with a white woman. I mean the historical parallels... Has he ever read a book about American history and the antebellum South before?

It is a no for me. A serious deep no.
And unlike most fans, I actually don't mind the cuckolding storyline in itself. It is sleazy but why not? But this is horribly offensive.
 

On the other hand, I will play Devil's Advocate on this.

While we have plenty of reasons to be skeptical, I think it is a bit early to declare it a bust.
I mean, building up Sheila as a threatening menacing lurking presence in Steffy's life slowly messing up things for her is exactly how it should be. Build up the tension and slowly draw out Sheila's evil tendencies and the feud between them.
I am not particularly interested in the Sheila return but so far they are playing it probably how they should be playing it - with the exception of the Paris/Finn subplot.
Bell might get bored and drop it soon as he has before and if this turns out to be the extent of it then, yeah, it'd be a bust. But if the story is going somewhere and is going to build up further over time, then this seems like a reasonable opening round to me.

It’s exacerbated by the fact that Bradley Bell doesn’t give a damn about any of the black characters on this show. They have zero depth and the actors don’t get any material to dig their teeth into. They are all outsiders and interlopers in the lives of the Forresters and Spencers. They have little agency. They have no history to dig into. They currently have no family ties (even Zende, who is a fûcking Forrester). They are written as not to be trusted, and they rarely have the dignity of having their inner lives and complex motivations shown on screen. 

And yes, Justin is basically Samuel L. Jackson in Django Unchained. Going from one master to another…

(One huge problem is that Bradley has refused to invest in a black family. We keep cycling through new sets of black characters and Carter and Justin have made a home on the back burner over the years. We don’t get the sense of depth that comes from seeing characters tackle many trials and tribulations over time.)

I am thoroughly disgusted by everything regarding Eric/Carter/Quinn.  I would be so happy if they'd just stop it today, but since they won't, why don't they have Eric watch and finally get it up?  This is something a porn movie would do and this show isn't a bit of above it.

You’ve explained how I feel about the Carter, Quinn, and Eric storyline. Yes, John McCook should be incensed, but the racist elements of the story are so much worse.

A wealthy white couple OWNS a black man to the point that the black man has to serve them? Follow orders? And notice that no one cares about Carter — how he feels, if he deserves love, if he wants a family. It’s disgusting and hideous.

And as you said, now another black man is told to spy on the interracial relationship. It just won’t stop.

I have been screaming about this story for weeks, and seeing Carter and Quinn together is no longer hot or fun or exciting.

Soap media should be losing their minds about this storyline. I cannot believe it’s happening.

I must admit the comments about Quinn/Eric/Carter are a bit surprising here.

I have my issues with this storyline. I'm not a huge fan of Quinn and Eric to begin with... in my opinion Eric should have divorced her after the vow renewal debacle. She had an ongoing affair with another man and kept it a secret, this is a serious betrayal. Now I'm not crazy about how this SL is unfolding and I get why it's a bit taboo. But racist? That's going too far. I don't see it.

 

Yeah, Sheila's return is disappointing so far. Sadly it looks more and more like her last return... a cartoonish character. They aren't using her history and they still haven't answered all our questions... she just reappeared as Finn's mother and we had to accept it. Steffy doesn't look good either in this SL. While I get why she doesn't want Sheila around her and calls her dangerous, she also acts like the members of her family are saints. Most of them have tried to kill someone and done questionable things but we never hear about it. If the Logans Spencers and Forresters were such good people and paragons of virtues they could bash Sheila all they want, but most of them would be in jail IRL, to me they all sound like blatant hypocrites. As for Finn... he just comes accross as a bigger wimpy loser than Liam at this point. I can't root for him either.

 

I'm looking forward to seeing Thomas' new love interest. And that mysterious visitor, I'm curious to find out who it is. October should definitely be better than August and September.
