EPISODE 1

In a word...WOW.

I was a regular viewer of DAYS (and MELROSE PLACE so I like that jazzy opening btw) in the late 90s right up until I would say JER's second run. From there it was on and off ever since. And so far this screams 90s vibe to me with more of the modern elements of the show mixed in.

I like while the main plot looks like it will the search for the jewels...oh, look DAYS 80 element...there are little plots going on. And I love those because they are touching on so much history. I know...unpopular opinion but I like Princess Gina, Carrie's relationship with Rafe, even Ben's serial killer history.

Yeah, Lisa Rinna nailed it from scene 1. I will give her that credit. Oh, Billie, Billie, Billie.

I stopped watching again as Ben and Ciara started. I had hoped that RC would do a decent job at redeeming Ben, but reading the threads here, it seems that all he did was prop Ben rather than write a redemption story so seeing their scenes in that light did nothing for me though I like RSW and VK's scene...though I miss edge Ciara. You know...Bo's daughter.

I love Carrie. I love Anna. And I live for the moments when they get scenes together. And AP has aged well and did great as Austin.

It goes without saying that I loved Wilson/Chad. And yes, they all looked yummy but we all know which one I like.

And I have not been watching so I have to ask...so did Chad sleep with Gwen after all when he thought Abby and Jake might be doing something. I had assumed that Gwen made him THINK they slept together.

I like seeing Eli and Lani happy. Nuff said. And Paulina is a hoot.

And you can't go wrong with John and Marlena...who I LOVED in the late 90s.

So far, so good.

I noticed they were going to discuss the spinoff today. Didn't expect to see Zach on. I was going to post the video here for those interested. I'll check it out soon!

I had assumed the same so I was actually surprised to find a scene between Christie's Carrie and Anna during Marlena's 1986 coma. In the scene Anna persuades Carrie (who was still wary of RoJohn at this point) to stay with RoJohn to help out with the twins.

Yeah she began and acted through the RoJohn/Marlena coma stuff.  Andrea Barber was mostly just cute and Christie did the more heavy stuff in the Carrie story.  I think Wiki tends to say she started as a teen Carrie and she was about 12 or 13 but she wasn't a soap teen per se yet.

    • Except she never worked there at all and barely even knew where the Chancellor Industries plant was located  In 1980, Kay attempted to install Derek Thurston (her third husband) in a position at Chancellor Industries.  The show introduced a character named George Packard who'd supposedly been running Chancellor since Phillip's demise in 1975.  (George Packard's storyline in 1980 was attempting to keep Derek Thurston from bankrupting the company.)   We didn't hear much of anything about Chancellor Industries for the next twenty-five years.  Then, at that point, we met Eliot Hampton (?) who'd been running the company for decades and had been embezzling from it.  Jill took it upon her herself to oust Eliot Hampton (?) and take control of the company.  That's when Kay became actively involved in the management of the company.  From 1974 till 2004 Kay Chancellor was strictly a hands-off owner.  It was downright absurd that the last ten years of life, she was written as this formidable businesswoman who'd always been involved in Chancellor Industries.
    • Well, it's going to be something when he finds out the truth.  Agreed.  On that note, I can't until it all comes out. I find Lulu to be ridiculous.
    • I almost posted this because that was my initial reaction too:  this is weird/cringe, to sing around a piano after such a huge family shattering bomb was dropped.  But I got over that and just enjoyed her voice, the song and the montage we saw as everyone's emotions in the aftermath were pouring out.
    • The Equalizer original series was not a big hit yet it became a movie franchise and got a reboot series. The Equalizer reboot lasted 5 seasons, so one season longer than the original series.
    • Today is Sean Freeman's birthday

His social media/IMDb doesn't have his age but from some posts he's made, I'm guessing 1989 is his birth year.
    • Here's the timeline, as I recall it being published. The WGA strike was 5/2–9/27/2023 Annalynne McCord was announced as being hired in December 2023, for a one-year contract https://deadline.com/2024/06/days-of-our-lives-when-to-expect-annalynne-mccord-peacock-1235975806/ RonC's first scripts back from the strike began airing May 31, 2024 (around Konstantine & Maggie's wedding) https://www.tvinsider.com/1137709/days-of-our-lives-writers-return-15000th-episode-storylines/ Her first air date was June 19th 2024. The actress has said she was not told who she would be playing until she started taping. RonC 's replacements were announced July 2024, with his scripts airing through April 2025 Side note: DAYS social media team seems to be playing fast and loose with BTS videos, in terms of how far in advance they film content (e.g. their April Fools' Joke videos were clearly not filmed on 4/1/25), so we shouldn't assume anyone's current status, versus those who were there nine months ago.
    • April and her husband (Draper) are the "young leads" who tie all the storyline threads together.  They're normally in the center of the action.  In this particular storyline, Draper is the attorney who represents Paige Madison.  (The district attorney, Logan Swift, has given Paige Madison "temporary immunity from prosecution" if she will lead the police to the members of the Tobias Gang who stole the firearms.  But Paige mainly just ducks bullets from various gang members who pop-up to assassinate her.)
    • It's one thing to post about a soap's rumors or gossip, which in point of fact we've all done. It's another to present yourself as the inside source who knows something to be fact that's about to break wide, then backtrack and call it just Twitter speculation. Between those two extreme poles you have to commit to one or the other. If I got something wrong, I'd say it. (Nor would I keep playing insider after what I pulled with Drake Hogestyn, which should've gotten someone permanently banned.) And regardless, you don't open with this 'news' you don't actually want to stand by yet by mocking DRW's extremely valid concerns re: how the Trina character and Tabyana Ali has been marginalized and put out to virtual pasture ever since the day NAC left. Her playing out her current contract in a C-storyline with Kai does not change that.
    • Yeah, I thought it would be more explosive or heated and it was kind of standard.  Both can do more with the material.  I just don't think the writing was there.
