Will soaps start firing actors who aren't fully vaccinated?

The irony here is that the only reason it happened at GH imho is because Nancy pushed for it publicly as vocally as she did - and Ingo who is a moron in more ways than one made the situation impossible for producers by being as pig-headedly vocal in return. I say she deserves the credit, not Valentini.
I am almost certain they would have been happy to muddle through if it hadn't been playing out in public.

It is obvious other shows also have massive anti-vaxxxers on their sets and do not want to rock the boat by setting a mandate.
And since those anti-vaxxxers are smarter than Ingo and shut up about it on one hand, and the sane ones are less courageous than NLG and are also not speaking up, the shows can afford to skate by without public accountability on this.

Even from the universe of people we *know* are probably not vaccinated, I can see why it puts decision-makers in a tough spot.
For instance Bell is writing B&B around JMW. We are not talking about expendables like Gabi or Jax here. If she says no, she has a lot of leverage. And I bet it is similar at other shows with people we don't even suspect.

I read a comment that she said Frank lead the charge for it to be required.  I do think her posting about it in regards to her union might have rushed things along.  But then again, maybe she knew GH was headed that way and she’s just pressuring her union to do the same all over?

Obviously I don't know the sequence of events. It could very well be that Frank was strongly in favor of it all along and all but if I know anything about business - show business in particular - is that they only do the right thing when there is more upside than potential downsides.
It is only because the tiff was public that the potential downsides - losing cast members - were outweighed by PR concerns enough that higher-ups would go along with it.
The fact the other soaps didn't - and I am sure there are also executives there who feel strongly about mandating vaccines - is a tell for me. Usually suits prefer not to rock the boat, certainly not out of something as "flimsy" as the health and well-being of employees or morals.

    • Christian Streaty penned today's Day's script. https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-streaty/
    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
