It came and went with little pop cultural footprint, with only a fraction of the original audience because they were only streaming a few months, in a time when streaming serial drama had only just begun to gain traction. I think AMC 2.0 was the best soap of the 2010s and that those shows were only failed by their management, but I can't deny that it and OLTL 2.0 (also good IMO) have little historical memory.

IMO for the bulk of the general AMC/OLTL audience, their memory of the show's storylines ended in 2011 and 2012. Only a fraction remember the online revivals and their stories because they failed to last long enough and become big enough to get that kind of foundation. Were it up to me, I would still acknowledge their existence as canonical but only deal with them in passing references for now - a photo on a mantle of one of the PP kids at some point, maybe, or if you did OLTL you could have someone toss off a line about 'that whole government conspiracy thing', but that would be it. It would be behind us unless it became necessary to directly reference in more substantial detail, far in the future once a more successful revival had found its footing and could risk going into those obscure waters.

But it's not up to me. So for ABC - especially given their nasty protracted conflict with Prospect Park - it won't surprise me at all if they choose to memory hole the entire revival which was built by a company which attacked them in the press and which did not garner most of the existing audience. I would hope the actors would stick up for it since it was Agnes' final work and vision, but I don't expect it to be acknowledged. I'd die if it was.

I've said it before, but it's truly surreal to realize SMG is almost certainly back as Kendall after all these years (all due respect to Alicia Minshew, who deserves recognition and who I always enjoyed in the role). I just wish I could be confident the show's quality will live up to Sarah's talent and the opportunity.

I would also have to agree about AMC 2.0 being the best soap of the 2010s and the best the show had been in over a decade. I mean every storyline was clicking, the actor’s were all acting their hearts out too, loved the usage of vets. The whole cast deserved emmy’s for that year. Too bad Brooke’s Talk Tempo was just beginning to heat up once it was cancelled. She was finally being written the way I always envisioned her to be.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I do not think Pine Valley necessarily needs Susan/Erica to survive AMC 2.0 proved that and year’s like 1994 with the tornado shown me that as well. I will greatly welcome her with open arms but she’s not the be all of All My Children imo. I contribute a lot problems with the shows last decade with them catering to Erica and her Girls and forgetting about everyone else.

I think 2.0 proved AMC does not need Erica to be good and true to itself. But I think Erica is absolutely necessary for a major revival like this at this point. I just hope the show does right by the Hubbards, who were the heart of the show on 2.0. And I think Brooke was being used better in '13 than she had been since at the very least the mid-90s.

But remember this is primetime not daytime. Meaning general audiences remember All My Children for Erica Kane AKA Susan Lucci. TPTB is going to be looking for additional eyeballs to the ones who watched the show when it was on 5 Days A Week. Now if Pine Valley was taking over GMA3 spot then yes I could see the show being more of an ensemble without her.

Though, I'm not saying Erica has to be in every episode. And I hope Angie & Jesse is included in this reboot as well as Brooke somehow too.

I wouldn't mind if SMG Kendall reconnect with Anton Marrick again. Have Anton be the new chief of staff of Pine Valley Hospital.

    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
