Bradley Bell reveals that dolls will get their own story on Bold

I didn't put this in the spoiler thread because he doesn't give much information but it sounds utterly stupid.

BBC: The one question that has come up consistently amongst cast members and their friends is 'What are you guys doing with the dolls?'

Bell: Well, the dolls are working! They've been kind of a hit with the press. So we're going to lean into the dolls a little bit. We have a storyline coming up that actually involves a doll as a character and not just a stand-in. So that's a little sneak peek into something we've never done before, but under these circumstances you get new ideas for story and this should be a fun one.

BBC: Can you tell us anything more.

Bell: Well it's amazing what some of these artists in L.A. can do. They can make dolls the spitting image of someone so the dolls are just getting started on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Here's the whole podcast that DaytimeConfidential is quoting.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3cszvbl
Someone from the BBC briefly interviews two B&B fans (including Matt Hanvey) to ask about the show.

The interviewer spent two weeks observing the cast and crew and talks about what she observed regarding COVID protocols.

There is a lot of Bradley Bell speaking throughout the podcast
Bradley talks about his family, how he began to write.  He talks about B&B actors using their real-life spouses or significant others as body doubles for kissing. (There is a Steffy spoiler implied).
He said they didn't use Kelly Kruger (Darin Brooks' wife) as a Flo double because Kelly is home with a baby and didn't want do it. So in the Flo/Wyatt scenes, Darin Brooks is kissing a doll/mannequin but Katrina Bowden is kissing her husband.

The part about using a doll or dolls in a storyline is something Bradley mentions at the end -- but it's not the focus of the podcast.  He says they found real-life skilled artisans in LA who can make mannequins that could look amazingly like anyone -- and he implied that B&B hired them to make a doll or dolls to be used in that new storyline.

Thanks for posting the full podcast!

They have done it before though? Brooke thought the baby dolls were her children, and Omar making a wax version of Taylor for her open casket funeral was a major plot point?

I guess Bradley enjoyed getting attention from people snarking about the dolls in major publications.

I've never been so embarrassed to watch soaps....

This. And the sad part is Bell thinks it's funny and entertaining. Nevermind the fact that all his goofy interviews about dolls did nothing but make B&B return with 1.2 million less viewers. He loves a goofy gimmick, anything for a laugh or attention no matter how detrimental it is to the genre as a whole.

I always feel bad for his actors. Even when the show returned he spent more time talking about dolls and spouse stand-ins than actual storylines or compelling storytelling.

Next up Juliet Mills(or Jennifer Rhodes lol) is hired as the new back from the dead Stephanie after Steffy learns of her secret occult heritage and realizes that Stephanie and Pam were actual witches while Hope and Flo are shocked to learn the Logan women are descended from a long line of succubuses!

    • Today Monday was the start of people arriving at the funeral, but the service hasn't started yet.  I know this is the nonspoiler thread but I think it's okay to say (in nonspecific terms) that the funeral episodes span a few days.  I won't detail it more here. Just sayin' keep watching.
    • Why am I only now hearing about what happened in L.A., lol?
    • While I agree that Reeves is Jennifer, I honestly do prefer Cady McClain in the role, as I feel she had/has a wider range of acting capabilities than I feel Reeves has. It's the strength of an actor, ultimately, for me, regardless of how I feel about Reeves' political/social views (which I widely disagree with). Plus, not to mention, they costumed Reeves like an old-fashioned frumpy farm/Moron wife, while McClain had some fashion-forward moments.
    • Wait - so no Will, Jack, or Jen at John's funeral? That’s just weird. What was the point of bringing them back then? Did Julie and Maggie even show up? I mean, seriously.

    • Has anyone ever totted up how many women on GL slept with both father and son(s)? Reva gets a lot of crap for it but she's far from the only one: Claire Beth Blake Olivia Dina Did I miss anyone?  Also, did Reva ever sleep with Phillip? They always had some "closeness" thing, but I don't know if they ever actually did the deed. If they did, then Reva's the clear winner, with TWO families covered, lol!
    • I think Long was probably planning to have Claire suffer from Post Partum, but she left the writing staff shortly after Claire had Michelle so that element didn't get explored. And I always assumed that when Claire returned in the late 90s/early 00s.. that she was realizing that she messed up by not staying a part of Michelle's life and became resentful/bitter over her previous choices.  That was my theory.
    • Jenn was a huge part of the success of Days back in the day, and that contribution shouldn't be dismissed.  With that said, I do think her and Jack's time on the show should remain as occasional visits/drop ins. When Missy returns to play Jenn, Jenn is back to being Jenn.   Jenn in her glory days was head strong, fiesty, and was a live wire.... and her scenes with Jack on Friday was classic Jenn with Jack being the voice of reason.   It was the foundation of their relationship back in the day.
