Massive icons like Aretha Franklin or Donna Summer will certainly continue to get their own threads when they pass, but I figured it might be worth having a place to honor lesser-known celebrities who have left us, especially because we can’t see status updates (which is where a lot of those announcements were made on here previously).

But the great actor Ian Holm has died at 88:

David Warner is an absolute legend whose voice has never, ever left my mind since childhood. And Paul Sorvino isn't far behind. RIP.

A few months ago, I saw on CBS Sunday Morning that Tony had been seriously ill with a recurrence of cancer. He had aged into a very sexy man on the New Leave It to Beaver:

This is so sad, on top of the underlying sadness, as it also was with Tanya Roberts. He's clearly not going to be with us much longer (although if a miracle happens that will be great), so in a sense his family has to grieve twice, and now when he passes away, similar to Tanya, there are going to be a lot of crass jokes and memes.

From past and future DW showrunner Russell T. Davies, who brought Cribbins to the show; Cribbins was returning to the show and filming for Davies' DW anniversary specials very recently.

Davies also wrote for Cribbins' show for preschoolers, Old Jack's Boat, which he co-starred on with former DW alumni Freema Agyeman.

Bernard was such a charismatic, warm presence, so lived-in and so fascinating to watch. He took Wilf and ran with him, never letting go. I was just watching some of Turn Left again to remember him. Such wonderful work with his eyes alone. He meant so much to so many people.

Wilf was such a touching character. He really did seem like everyone’s gramps. I didn’t get teary-eyed that much watching Doctor Who, but Bernard Cribbins could make me bawl. My thoughts just go to Catherine Tate right now.
