Soaps Returning To Production

Hope it works out.

If you think about it, people that work on soaps are most likely low risk for Covid, due to the long hours that they work. As long as proper precautions are taken, there shouldn't be any problems.

I would be curious to see what ratings will look like for BB next week. I wonder if CBS is running any ads during their daytime and primetime schedules to let viewers know they're returning to new episodes or doing some sort of promo.

I doubt it will be more than a generic spot during Y&R and B&B classic broadcasts. And no plan apparently is in place for if they need to shut down again. I can't see them getting that much of a ratings bump with reruns as their lead-in. I think it will be higher than reruns but not as high as pre-COVID.

I'm hoping Y&R takes longer to get back on air since it takes longer to film an hour show.

I saw the ads during today’s Y&R for this week’s B&B “classics.” I thought maybe they’d have time to add in a line, “And next week, ALL-NEW EPISODES RETURN!” But no such thing. They are going to have a hard time getting back viewers without heavy promotion. It’ll be interesting for sure.

In Mexico telenovelas returned about a month ago and it's #1 soap has reached new highs in 5 million viewers. Here in the USA the telenovelas are reaching a little over 2 million viewers which is up from before the pandemic started. The telenovelas on Unvision are seeing a resurgence.

That's a positive sign. Hopefully, American soaps will experience a similar boost.

This is a mistake. They need to hold those episodes until Y&R is also ready and PROMOTE the return of both. This is going to kill B&B’s ratings.

Why is Bold rushing to premiere instead of banking episodes? Also returning without Y&R sounds like a disaster.

Also there's this

Yet.  They aren’t shutting it down again yet.  This shows no signs of getting better because we as a nation won’t do what needs to be done.

They will shut down.

The larger public is with and for precautions. It's the government and the minority who are failing and endangering all of us.

Good for them. It'll shut down again though, hopefully before someone dies.

Yeah, just like LA, right? Are you here? Do you live here and see what's happening? No? These shows will shut down again, and they need to stay gone for a good long time. Sorry not sorry you can't handle losing new episodes of these shitty soaps.
