The angry defiance of these gentleman is indicative of how Americans have become politicized about vaccination, when the truth it is he least political issue there could be: it is a public health and safety crisis.

Trump's devotees are the strangest to me. Trump and Melania got the vaccine themselves before they left the White House.

There's currently an outbreak on Cape Cod -- about 430 COVID cases linked to Provincetown (where we're headed in just a few weeks). Despite the fact that the town board called an emergency meeting to address the outbreak and the fact that over 150 P-Town residents have tested positive in recent days, we're seeing some residents on social media actually denying the cluster. Rather they're spouting theories that it's a conspiracy by the MAGA crowd and/or anti-gay people to hurt the town and the LGBTQ community. It blew my mind to read those posts today.

They make some good points. One difference is the amount of disinformation being thrown at people about vaccines though. We have a bunch of actual leaders and public figures encouraging the antivaxx movement. You don't see anything like that with DUI and spreading HIV.  Half our population is actively working against the common good and a lot of them seem to be entirely clueless dupes. The real kicker is how they call the rest of us sheep for getting vaccinated!

I try so hard not to think about it this way, but honestly, yes.

It depends on what part of the world you're talking about. There continues to be disinformation campaigns that are still actively trying to convince men that they cannot get or spread HIV if they sleep with a virgin.

Because a person like Magic Johnson has been living with HIV for this amount of time, there are those who try to negate, or at least diminish just how deadly the virus can be. And there continues to be urban legends about how people can cure themselves with herbs, etc. One particular former South African president was known for doing this.

DUI, I think is different, but the way it is prosecuted has led some to believe that being charged with DUI isn't as big a deal as say, gun crimes. Over the weekend, there were at least four DUI-related car crashes, three of them fatal. Two involved a driver who ploughed into a mother and child. In one case, the mother and child were badly hurt but are expected to survive, in the other, the mother and daughter were killed. People still make jokes about celebrities that get arrested for DUI because somehow the message has been spread that it's not as heinous as gun crime. I just wonder where that idea came to be.

    • His original motives were unclear and all we knew was that he was working for Iris. But when it was revealed that Evan was Janice's son we found out that he had fallen in with Iris not because he wanted to follow Iris specifically but because he had his own anti-Rachel agenda. Charles Grant had more charisma than the later recast Eric Scott Woods who seemed younger to me.
    • Throwing this out to the universe: finding Elisabeth Shue's episode of As the World Turns (which I guess would have been circa 1983, maybe just before RDJ started watching Search for Tomorrow).

    • I thought today was still good. Leo is always awful, but the characters treating him like he's a plague feeds my soul. Rafe in particular had been very passive about him, but today was wonderful seeing him put Leo on notice. I really think it's being written that Javi is going to have to eventually take the blinders off and see Leo for who he really is. Them having sex on Gabi's desk made me want to explode. Roman taking in stray Doug was nice to see. And the mention of Frankie and Max was unexpected, but good to know they're at least being thought of. Tate being petty and a bit vindictive by going back to Sophia's as soon as he saw Doug with Holly was entertaining for me. I think I actually like Tate the most out of all of them because he's so damn messy.  Is Holly about to be kidnapped? Her first time? Also, Gabi finally revealing what happened with her the night EJ was shot and the clearing of all the other main suspects, but Johnny made this still feel like an important episode. I think Johnny will be cleared soon enough leaving everybody at a loss for the hell shot EJ. How the real shooter will be revealed is going to be interesting.  Speculation: When Kristen finally puts together that her daughter Rachel shot him, she'll agree to frame her mother for the crime, while keeping her hidden away from Salem.
    • That would have saved the Anita singing segment -- having her by herself, singing quietly and reflectively. Belting it out like she was in church did not work. The black screens fade at the end was a mistake. BTG insists on being different with these fades for the sake of being different, and it's not working.   I thought all of that was just fine. Worked for me.   I'm going to disagree with this. Martin hasn't had many scenes with his parents, but he's been around family A LOT -- and that's what matters. We also know Martin is someone with a hair trigger response. He can be very emotional when discussing an issue before getting to the logic and reason of it all.
    • My view of Evan is that he's smart but not as smart as he thinks he is, not a good guy but not an entirely bad guy - he's a lot of things, the show never quite knowing what to do with them. I never saw him as Iris' follower because Iris always seemed a bit in over her head from the start.
    • She was the Town Historian, who knew a bit too much about Brandon and the infamous cottage.  SF was still a pretty normal place at that time, with Nola and Reva being the most outrageous citizens....seems that Carrie Pipper would have stood out a bit more for people.

    • Yes, I need to dot hat. Also on my list talking to the person I got these files from since they clearly have a mess, in terms of dates being wrong. And, unfortunately finding one date wrong, automatically means more are wrong, too.
