On a show like Y&R, considering the fact that Nikki, Victor and Jack's portrayers are all in the over 60s category and any entertaining storyline possibilities for Nick, Sharon and Phyllis have been pretty much exhausted (at least for the writers that Y&R seems to hire), I wonder whether this will force the show to focus on their younger set and write entertaining storylines for them.

This is another "Is it just me or...?" type of thoughts but when I read this article, why was my first thought about how a fictional cosmetic company (Jabot Cosmetics) and boutique (Fenmore's) would handle these challenges.  This is how I know I grew up on soaps!

“Showrunners are being asked to cut extras, reconsider sex and fight scenes and, in some cases, shorten page counts.

For sure. Soaps haven't been about "love in the afternoon" for years because all the characters are too busy plotting to kill one another.

I suppose we should be grateful that they're not planning on using barbie dolls, cling wrap and perspex screens like in that SNL sketch @Vee posted here 3 months ago!

I wonder what everyone would think if they did podcast/radio episodes to keep the story going when the new episodes ran out.
