I watched that episode in full and Beth sold the story so well.

When Traci talked about what Cane brought to her life the emotion and delivery was all there .Meanwhile Cane just stood there like a corpse. i wasn't sure exactly what the scene meant as DG was not conveying what Cane felt. Did he want to pursue something with Traci and if so was it genuine or was he just lonely and needy??

I think Traci needs to make more connections on the canvas to becoming the matriach of the show. That shouldn't rule out romance however.

Eileen is another actress who shines onscreen. Glad she's agreeable to more appearances.

The whole Jack at loose ends story seems more about not knowing what to do with him next.

Same with Kyle/Lola. She seems so dull compared to Kyle.

Don't mind Nate/Abby.SD again has a great screen presence and works well with MO.

Could have done without the cliche French background music in the Paris scenes.

Speaking of music, are they using any of the old cues? There needs to be more music as some scenes seem lifeless w/o the underscore.

Phyllis is such a reptile. Slithering around town with that attitude.

Frankly, at this point, Y&R may want to put Can with

Reiterating what I said before, it doesn't bode well for the health of a show going forward when any one character in what is ostensibly an ensemble cast can force the writers, including the head-writer to take a meeting regarding suggestions on story line ideas.  Bill Bell Sr. never did that, which is one of the reasons why the show had such a highly successful run.

As a writer, I'd never want to write by committee, IMO, it usually ends up producing a bad quality product.  Ever watch a movie where there was too much input from too many people?  Hint:  they usually tank at the box office.

Y&R needs to nip this type of thing in the bud but I doubt they will, it's already gone on too long and too far.

I really did not like the way that Lola acted on today's show towards Theo and Kyle. She was very rude and smug with Theo when she grilled him about Kyle's past. She told him that she didn't know if she could find him trustworthy and was smug with the way she treated him. Theo has always treated Lola nicely and he is Kyle's friend after all. There was no need for her to talk to him in the manner that she did. Plus she is the one that sought him out to ask questions about Kyle's past instead behind his back. And then at the end of today's show she gave Kyle an attitude when she asked him about his past.

And when she told him that she needed to know who he really is before she married him. Once again, she is looking for something to berate him for and act judgmental and like she is too good for him. Lola is insufferable. I don't really think she should be digging in his past like this unless she suspects he was involved in criminal behavior, or did something really bad. And/or she suspects he is or will do the same stuff again. Other than that I think she needs to let his past go, especially since it seems like he was mostly just immature and a bit wild. Kyle has changed and doesn't act the way he used to before he met Lola. I Think she needs to accept him as he is or let him be free to be with someone who will.

Also I felt bad for Phyllis today during her conversation with Summer. Once again the show is having Summer lash out at Phyllis and mistreat her. And while I'm not a fan of Phyllis and Phyllis has definitely done her share of bad things, I do think that a lot of the animosity that Summer is aiming at her is unwarranted. I don't like seeing Summer be at odds with her mother again. (Like she was with GT's Phyllis underneath Mal)

And I thought that everyone looked nice at the Newman dinner today. I did think it was kind of amusing when Adam showed up and everyone told him to leave that even Nate said something. Nate kind of gave his own version of "get to stepping" when the people at the table were telling Adam to leave. lol. Nate looked good and I do like him and Abby.

lol. He was so much better and more interesting before Lola. And he still had a caring side as well. I thought that was evident in his support/friendship with Mariah. Lola has dragged him down and continues to make him feel bad about who he is and now was in the past. I don't think that she should be digging his past the way that she is. Unless she suspects it's something criminal (which she doesn't), is being threatened by someone (she isn't) or suspects he will do it again. (which I actually think she doesn't). She is just looking for something to be upset with him about and berate him for. And she is already acting squeamish at the thought of him being immature/partying/dating lots of women. Which is regular behavior and not anything criminal or super terrible.

But she can't handle who Kyle was as a young single man in NY. Even though that is before he met her and he's changed since then. And has not acted that way at all since they have begin together. I'm not sure what exactly his secrets are from New York, but I don't think they are bad enough to warrant this type of interrogation/questioning from Lola. She is so immature and I really believe she should be single until she matures more.

Yeah, unless he has a wife and/or kid on the side, or he once roofied a girl at some party, I couldn't care less about Kyle's past.

Yeah, something along those lines or some other criminal behavior. Other than stuff like that I'm not concerned about his past. Especially since he's changed and is not doing the same stuff anymore. It sounded like he was mostly immature than anything. I don't think that Lola should be trying to dig in his past (let alone behind his back) like this. And being that she gets upset of every little thing, including positive things, she will wish she hadn't. And he will be the one who will have to suffer as she berates him again, this time for stuff he's done in the past.

The only two people they have added so far are Loren Lott and Sasha. Though, people have been questioning and even jumping up in the actresses mentions complaining about why characters like Tessa and Kyle haven't been added yet. It looks like they are adding people slowly, so far it looks like's been one person per week added. And both Loren and Sacha were surprised but grateful that they were added to the credits. They didn't find out they were added until the day ahead shows aired in Canada.

    • I definitely think FV wanted to pair Kristina and Lucky.  Why else would Lucky decide to become a bartender at her stupid bar?  Lucky was a cop, a crusader?-whatever he was doing in Africa and all these years away.   It makes zero sense for him to just be content tending bar for some flakey girl he knew since she was born.  Have him work with Spinelli at PI firm or something.  There were also some scenes with Kristina and Lucky that seemed like the show was leaning in that direction.  I also suspect JJ was extremely unhappy with that idea lol. As far as Lulu, I certainly don't miss the JMB smug era.  I hate that BLQ looks like a poor, innocent victim being tortured by Lulu at every turn though.
    • I do think she's been pretty wrecked, having tried to kill someone in cold blood, letting her whole family (including the woman pregnant with her great-grandchild) get charged or questioned, and having no remorse, but it doesn't matter as much because Kathy has not existed as a character since Gillian's return anyway.  There are reasons to bring Max back, like Lauren and his not knowing he had a child with Linda, but he is exhausted, with Jake Wood phoning it in years before he left.  I am a little surprised about Zoe because Michelle Ryan said for years she didn't want to return, to the point of even asking the show to recast the role, but I guess this may only be a short stint. I wouldn't be shocked if they kill Zoe off.
    • HAHAHA. Yeah, that's my bad. I misread that line. Sorry about going into "Unnecessary" detail about my username. Anyway, I love the story behind your Username.    reading on my phone...

    • Completely agree with you. I think Bonita Brisker has been really good as Sharon. What Anita did was obviously awful, so she doesn't need to reign anything in. We're getting a good look at someone who's struggled in life compared to Anita "We're the Duprees!" Williams.   -- Anita is starting to look foolish for dredging all this up just so she  can get her ass back on stage. Is she so delusional she doesn't realize how she hurt Sharon and Tracy? -- Anita's line to Vernon "How can I expect Sharon to forgive me when I haven't forgiven myself" struck me as really selfish. After all that with Sharon, Anita again made it all about herself. -- Does anyone really believe Anita wants equal billing if the Articulettes reunite?  -- Colby Muhammad continues to be a standout. Her Kat more than holds her own with Leslie. -- The writing was very good for the father/daughter scene between Ted and Eva. It wasn't so good between Ted and Martin in their father/son scene. It didn't play like family to me, especially when Ted referred to "my wife" when talking about Nicole to Martin. -- Overall, a very solid show today.
    • I honestly do not see the point of Max coming back again. Zoe does not surprise me. I've been waiting for that since Bionic Woman flopped in the US, frankly. I'm not against it vs. some other pointless returns. Some returns work and some don't, some are just there. Like, am I grateful that Kathy is alive? Yes, absolutely. Do I love any of her stories? No. But she's not utterly destroyed, she's just there.
    • I think Frank probably wanted to try for Jonathan with Kate Mansi. I actually can't knock the idea of a Lucky/Kristina affair or flirtation on paper, as a romantic obstacle to LNL2, but not with the characters in the places they are at present or have been over the last few years. It would be a mistake to do right now and would poison the well. I think Jonathan probably made it clear when he came back that he wanted what had been promised to him years ago with Elizabeth, and between his not being one of FV's preferred focal leads and Liz being a grudging afterthought if she's not with one of his OLTL stars, I suspect FV was content to leave them where they are vs. where they should be, which is central on the show. It's like I said a few days ago: A lot of this is how Lulu has always been. But back in the day the issue was that Lulu (and Carly) were deified for it, whereas now it's that Lulu is just used as the heavy because FV has a preexisting favoritism for Setton/BLQ. And that's a waste of a key character and talent, namely Alexa Havins.
    • Melanie Smith was very difficult to replace, but as KMH did last for a long time, she clearly managed to do so. I preferred Melanie, but the main issue with Kelley is I just think she was horribly written for most of the time. Initially the writing wasn't horrible, it's more she was not the right choice, but over time the writing genuinely became awful, and unplayable, with a few exceptions (I think her pairings with Chris and Hal worked and got to take her in some new directions).
    • Coming into June and...   TRASH. Or as I like to say for moments like this...HUNNI, WHAT IS THIS?   Outside of seeing Traci come home...and then...Ashley...not a darn thing is going on. So they are clearing stalling now, aren't they? It really hit me during the Phyllis/Daniel scenes. It was feeling like a B&B scene where two characters have the same repetitive conversation. And I have not seen Phyllis/Daniel scenes in that light lately so yeeeeah NOPE.   I did like the touch of Traci arrived outside of the Abbott mansion door and taking a breath and looking around. Very aftereffects of Martin. And I liked her and Diane having their conversation about Martin. I wished JG had allowed Traci to stay in town to deal with her feelings about Martin so at least we are getting some follow-up on that.    And same with Ashley and her talk with Jack. I will take Eileen Davidson anyway I can get her. Dare I say...will she be around for the Dumas reveal?   Outside of...   Kyle, Claire, and Harrison in a park IS NOT a storyline.   Sharon having to use the phrases (and in text) with Nick dinner as friends IS NOT a storyline.   Giggly Heffa giggly-heffa-ing around town IS NOT a storyline.    With Damian MIA and my love of Eileen Davidson...I might just go on break until the Dumas reveal if this is how we are starting June.
    • Dragging this quote over from the Texas thread just because it shows a reference to Bay City as a fictional location at least as early as 1981. It doesn't quote Gail Kobe as saying it directly but the point she is making about the Houston setting of Texas does seem to take it for granted that Bay City is not real.
