I just read two articles on how tipping culture is out of control yet I still don't care.

If I encounter one of those pads that suggest an additional 20% charge for a service when tipping is not customary, I simply don't add it.  (1) If it is an establishment that I don't frequent then I am unconcerned about the judgment of the employees and (2) unlike tipping a waiter, I have no idea where that tip is going or how it will be divided among the 2 or 3 workers who helped me.

I've always understood it to be a part of the software programmed into the pad, not an actual expectation to tip the guy who put my Amazon return behind the counter for UPS pickup.  Like when you get a survey on the back of a receipt, I assume very few people complete it.

Is anyone else tipping every time they see that Ipad?
