Poor WH is a decent guy and a team player. He is entitled to being disappointed. Ultimately it all boils down to BB's worrying lack of creativity. They could cast Al Pacino and Brad Bell would still trample all over his talent.

With a character that has 'followed her very wide and open heart' so many times, why Brad would just crash and burn $Brill in about five or six episodes that featured the Brooke's discovery (from what I've read).

After 5 years of building their story, including the illogical Kill re-marriage and Widge's cringe-worthy Stephanie's grave proposal,  I don't get why they just don't extend the separation process and mine it for more material. Sure, Thorne can then come in and be a shoulder, but a Thorne/Brooke/Widge triangle right off bat?

What's weird about Thorne is that he has no children unlike Brooke's 5 and Widge's 3 (living), so there's no next  generational aspect to the story. And except for Rick, Thorne's bio siblings are all off canvas. He really is an island.

They killed his only daughter. He should've had more kids

The only thing this promo tells me is that Winsor Harmon wasn't hot enough for Bradley Bell.

Wasn't it rumored back in 1996 that Winsor Harmon was cast as Thorne because Bradley Bell didn't think Jeff Trachta was handsome enough?

Now if only we can get a new Ridge...

Whom would you have cast as Ridge after Ronn Moss left? I asked this before, but wasn't It rumored that Bradley Bell tried to get Peter Reckell as the Ridge recast?

Yeah, I forgot about that. But if he is looking for good looks why is Waldo still playing Ridge?

I know Ron Moss was horrible, but I would love to have him back.  He is Ridge.

Absolutely. Ronn Moss IS Ridge. I don't care what they'd have to pay him and what kind of apology Brad Bell would have to give Ronn...bring his cheesy ass back.

Now you are making me miss Ronn Moss who, as cheesy as he was, WAS Ridge! And Ridge was Ronn Moss! BB clearly wants recasts to elevate his atrocious writing but It's not gonna happen, Brad! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

Posting Winsor Harmon's breakout scene from 2004 when Thorne lost it and trashed his basement office. I was going to say that this is WH's Not gonna happen, Rick! moment, but I actually think he was really good here:

Thorne's battle to be recognized and accepted (and his parents STILL choosing Ridge) is a great, highly underrated 2004 story. It brought up all the issues Thorne had for decades regarding his older brother and is the only story from that year I actually remember! Notice the sarcastic "royal hissy fit" title of the video. Funny how the story and character is pretty much treated by many fans the same way Thorne was treated on the show! WH was never better and I was completely on Thorne's side.

I love that scene. Winsor was great. The underdog role for Thorne was perfect set against Ridge. Yes, it's a melodramatic performance, but perfect for B&B. They should have had Thorne and Darla take over Spectra from Sally and kept them there as underdog anti-heroes.

Ingo is going to flop. Watch for it.

And yes, bring back Ronn.

    • Hope you can add some more. My next contribution is Dear John on NBC. In the 1998/89 season it took Night Court's 9.30 pm Thurs slot following Cheers. Cheers was # 4 and Dear John a respectable #11. In it's 2nd season it kept the 9.30 pm slot till mid season when it was replaced by Grand. I believe NBC was under pressure from Carsey/Werner productions to place their new show in that plum slot (they supplied Cosby and A Different World) Dear John got moved to Wed 9.30 following Night Court. It finished #17 for the season but that average was bumped up from the Thurs showings. In 90/91 it retained the 9.30pm Wed slot but now followed a new show Fanelli Boys. Wed 9-10 Wk 1 1990/91 season ABC Doogie Howser #8 CBS Jake and the Fatman # 25 NBC fanelli Boys #42/Dear John # 52  Fanelli flopped and NBC moved Dear John to 9pm. By Jan 1990 Night Court was back to 9pm and Dear John was back to 9.30 before being shunted to 10.30 Saturday. It's overall ranking was #50 For it's final season it was given the 9pm Fri timeslot but was moved to 9.30 . It ranked #77. So it only worked with a strong lead in - timeslot hit.

    • I agree. With that in mind, I think we've pinpointed a good amount of 1980s and 1990s time slot hits.
    • Bit hard to play that when Paul has been gone for years, but yes beforehand their connection was downplayed. With Paul isolated because of LLB's absence they could have easily played up a lonely Paul leaning on Lauren. Write in some issues that would cause friction b/w Lauren and Micheal and bingo! Paul and Lauren could be tempted. Yes that relationship should have remained stronger over the years.
    • To my way of thinking a show can only be classified as a timeslot hit if it is moved out of a timeslot it is rating well in, and doesn't perform as expected/hoped for in the new timeslot. That discounts a lot of shows that get moved at the end of their lifespan. I would put Hotel in that category along with other examples like Falcon Crest and Trapper John, which after several successful seasons were falling in the ratings and basically moved elsewhere to finish their runs. Had Hotel been moved in Season 3 and bombed then its status as a timeslot hit would be proven. Looking forward to your response!
