@cattykittens For Y&R, good business stories are their sweet spot. They should at least look at making CI a viable company, especially if they want to make proper use of Jess Walton's talents. Her hanging around B&S seeing if Bill and Victoria are going to mate is ridiculous.

Y&R needs a B business storyline- their A business storyline (Fenmore's) is barely moving at this point. If Jill is going to be arguing about Hillary, put some purpose behind it. As it is now, what they're doing just makes Jill look like a meddling nag.

Instead of futzing with B&S, why didn't they revive The Men's Line?  They could have collaborated with Chelsea 2.0 to try to build a Men's capsule collection. There could be tons of storyline built around that and would make use of characters that are currently just 'dying on the vine'.

For the past several years, I've been wondering why Y&R won't have their strongest female characters take the lead in storylines. It's a show that has majority female audience yet does very little to build on that.

Maybe if they want to get back some viewers that they lost, they may want to try something new but something that has an organic connection to the show's history.

I remember Jamey Giddens saying that the show has tried to tell stories focused on Jill and business but the network typically forces the show to rework it to include or center on Cane. That's why he's never far from any story she's involved in.

Even the latest story with her buying CI from Victor, Cane was shoehorned into those scenes. He was totally unnecessary.

I don't think you're being snarky.

For me, this isn't the same ol same ol with Hilary/Devon.  I think giving Devon a traumatic injury that leaves him with a temporary memory loss is an interesting spin.  Hence, she's not lying to him to cover her tracks, but to keep her husband's recovery on track.  But she's torn.   The ending today was classic soap.  Hilary ready to tell Devon what happened, but being interrupted by Devon expressing his desire to make every moment of theirs count.  How will Devon learn what happened?  What will Hilary do?  How long will the others remain quiet?  It's interesting.

Not to mention this is one of the only times we've seen Hilary wanting to do the right thing, but can't.  "old" Hilary wouldn't have had this internal conflict.

That's infinitely more interesting than Devon crashing the car, never loosing his memory and castigating Hilary as an "evil" person.  And Hilary groveling for forgiveness.  I don't want to see that.  That WOULD be the same ol same ol with these two.

That's why I am enjoying seeing how this will play out.

ICAM +1

I agree with you that this is a totally different situation with Hilary and Devon. It feels fresh to me. Just cause Hilary made the choice to tell the truth, she's not running from devon towards some old man, she's not being some villain, nor is she being mean just to be mean. This is the writing I've been waiting on for her. The premise is weak but her behavior had been understandable and relatable. I'm digging it

@DramatistDreamer I'd love to see CI as a viable company. Jill, unlike Katherine, can do more than sign papers, it is wasting Jill's talents. But I can't see them adding another empire, and both Newman & Jabot have lot's of family to keep theirs on screen. A Chance return would be essential, someone needs to be named Chancellor, and he's a legacy child born onscreen. Plus all that military and Washington DC experience could make for a good-to-go executive. Then add Mac or Phillip3 later.

There's a lot of Chancellor history that roots the company in GC but Jill is the only one left onscreen to represent it, and she's part time.

The least plausible part was Reed PAYING for Porn. Um, hello it's 2017, there's a million "Youtube" like sites with free porn. Certainly a boy his age would know of them.

This something a 1980s soap writer would write. 2017 writer would write Reed watching porn on his computer.

This story was already done in 2006/2007 with Daniel, leading to the end of his marriage to Lily.

Don't even recall....must be why they are repeating the story again.  The writers must figure no one was really pay attention at that time...LOL

I didn't see that story line. But we are talking about using credit card to get porn. Did Daniel do that too? Or just watch it for free.

They also said most of their viewers were black, but we see how far their writing with their black characters. I don't think they want to get back their old viewers.

If they could cast a good actor for Chance, even on recurring, that would be a good start. Jess Walton has given the impression that if given a worthwhile storyline she'd roll up her sleeves and get to work.

We're in agreement that Jill, as the only character that has that link to the OG Y&R, it would be fitting for Jill to be seen as captain of her industry, on par with the Jacks and the Victor Newmans of the world.

I don't know whether SS will actually write Victor as stepping down from head of NE but if they do this (as has been hinted at), it would be imperative to have someone who can go head to head with Jack and the only remaining character on that level is Jill.

I just don't see Victoria on that level.

In a genre that relies on women so much, and it being 2017 and all, it really is time for an experienced female CEO who can play hardball and stand to toe with the likes of Jack and Victor, who stands alone and is not going to be in competition with her brother for the position.

Jill has schemed and charmed and seduced but she's also worked very hard. As a character who started off doing nails to support her family, it is the ultimate rise to the top story and I just don't know why Y&R hasn't played it to the hilt, or at least for what it is worth.

One of the reasons why I am disappointed that Hillary was shifted away from the corporate life and into entertainment. Y&R has never had a Black female executive and Hillary was ascending the corporate ladder at Jabot. This many not seem like a big deal to some but representation matters, especially when you've never seen it on the show before. If there was another corporate titan besides NE and Jabot, and since Jill and Hill have had great combative chemistry before, there are several great storylines just waiting to be explored at CI.

That's my opinion but I'm hoping someone from Y&R hears me!  Take this premise please!

I thought Lily would been perfect. She worked in Lauren store. I'm sure her mother told her the ends & out about cosmetics. Oh, that's right that was a different Lily.

Drucilla was a business executive. However the less said about her tenure the better.

I don't think they addressed if he paid or not. He was an porn addict. I doubt that's where they are going with Reed though.

I think Reed is just a horny teenager. Although has Sally and Kay heard about teen using social media apps to sext one another or finding free porn online?
