I'm glad they've gone for someone outside of the US soap bubble of the usual recycled producers and writers. I'd imagine Pratt is on borrowed time but maybe the two share the same vision? Who knows? Hopefully the music and the look of the sets improves ...

He should bring Kay Alden back since she worked with Bill Bell from 1974 on and knows this show inside and out. I think they should also go back into the past and bring back some legacy characters from the Foster/Brooks era like Brooks Prentiss, Chuck Foster and Jennifer Elizabeth Foster. They would be fresh characters to work with and it would link all 5 decades of Y&R.

If they got rid of AH as Victoria and got HT to return to the role, I could see her being paired with Brooks if they found a dynamic actor to play the role. Maybe JLB as Lorie would show up on occasion and scrap with Nikki, since Lorie helped raise Brooks.

Frank a better EP?  Why because JFP focused on the characters you didn't like?  Her soaps had complete coherent NON CHEAP stories.  Yes, she has her challenges, but please call me when what's left of her entire cast is supporting to a bunch of worthless newbies, Howarth, Staff, Easton (on character #5), Miller, etc.  Poorly conceived trash characters and the worst actors ever!  On any given day, any scene has more newbies than real GH characters.  The show is cheap, the "stories" make no sense and way too much time and effort is put into making these failed friends of Frank work on GH.  They don't!  Oh, and record low ratings?  Canceled shows had much better #s than this current GH trash.

Frank isn't a better anything!

Frank and Jill both being bad at their jobs does not automatically make the other person good. JFP has a showkiller rep going back to the Gulf War. She helped cripple OLTL, GH and a lot of other shows. Frank has become a petty, biased hack who is rivaling Jill. Both parties are bad. There is no person to lionize here.

So Steve Kent thanked JFP for her contributions and wished her all the best in a statement....but I haven't seen anything from him about how "We're thrilled to have someone as accomplished as Mal Young  ..blah blah blah". Has Sony actually uttered his name yet?  And - if not - why not? Makes me wonder if he will be Head Writer as well and they are waiting until they can fire Pratt to do one big "Mal Young Named Executive Producer and Head Writer of 'The Young and the Restless'" press release.

Or, does he have limited time to prove himself and, if he doesn't do so, he is out... so they are not making a big deal about his appointment?

    • Another great episode.  GH has been pretty good this year, loading up the chamber, because now there's many bullets to fire, and another one was fired today when Nina found out Michael is the father of Sasha's baby.  I hope this secret comes out at the hearing.  I've also liked the slow burn with Gio/Emma. There's just so many things to look forward to on this show now.  GH is finally back to being really good.
    • I'm all for it. Get them Nina!

    • I am blown away that Christie Clark is 51, and she debuted 39 years ago. They gave her a lovely script today.  But, I could not think of any other examples in culture of someone able to jump right back into the skin of a character, after virtually retiring from acting years ago. I was trying to recall if Carrie left for a bit with Anna after Roman died (because she wasn't at Bo & Hope's wedding), and then returned as a pre-teen Christie?  Or if she was just SORASed off-screen?  But, whenever I see the character I am reminded how much more trauma she's endured than Sami, and yet she remains such a nice person.
    • Weirdly I feel like Nina was the most sus about the entire situation.  Normally I would have given this one to Carly, but Nina was always kind of trying to make it make sense. I think Nina (and Alexis) are actually really smart characters.  They just constantly get in their own way with dumb plans lol.
    • Rewatching some of 1991 I had to appreciate what a strong week March 5-12 1991 was. Cassandra dies, Nina shoots David, Sheila switces the babies, and drunk Nikki all occurring simultaneously. 1991 and 92 were pretty strong overall.
    • Still loving all the Gio fallout, but the scenes that really surprised me this episode were the ones with Nina and Maxie. I was not expecting Nina to be the one to put together all the pieces about Sasha's baby daddy. This custody hearing is about to get explosive!
    • I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop
    • BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today. Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani. Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.
    • Agreed.  It doesn't feel in character at all.
    • You could always tell whenever Douglas Marland enjoyed writing for a particular actor, because he'd pull out all the stops for them; and Julianne Moore was no exception.
