February 22, 201610 yr Member Maybe the network needs to go with someone who has never written for a daytime drama before. Frankly, it would not make any difference. DAYS has been gutted by decades of horrendous decisions; and whatever ideas he or she would care to implement would be destroyed by network interference. Well, with the idea that TPTB threw out their micromanaging interference and boneheaded decision-making, and allowed a creative writer to write effective, character-driven story. (Yes, I know this is less than unlikely, so... it may just be time to pull the plug.)
February 22, 201610 yr Member Tomlin thought scored good ratings in 2009/2010 when he slashed the budget but days was nearly cancelled back then. Days is like a cat with nine lives it literally should have been cancelled years ago
February 22, 201610 yr Member Dena writes: "The network and the EP (executive producer) at the time wanted our characters to sit around for an hour and talk about their feelings." I have a hard time believing any network exec past 1982 actually wanted that. I can almost believe it though, considering DAYS' drastically reduced budget.
February 23, 201610 yr Member Really, when the show's props are from Dollar Tree and the wardrobe from Hancock Fabrics, what else CAN they do in scenes except expound on feelings?

February 23, 201610 yr Member How nice to know that Griffith's final contribution to DAYS was a pointless rape story. someone got raped? ETA: I just read the Days thread. I feel like its the audience that got raped Edited February 23, 201610 yr by Cheap21

March 2, 201610 yr Member Quan got his first SOD interview. Interesting to get his history and what he had his hand in pre-HW. Love that the Ciara/Julie shoplifting scene was his idea.

Is there a summary anywhere of the interview? That's encouraging to know the Ciara/Julie thing was his idea. I'm clinging to whatever hope I can get LOL
March 3, 201610 yr Member And the up-and-down continues. Just watched Tuesday's episode, and I thought it was great. Belle was likable in lawyer mode (!!), the Chad/Stefano stuff was powerful, and the Jennifer/Eric stuff is strangely working, too. They even did an okay job of making a story point of how they didn't follow up on the Jen/Eric kiss. If the show could be like this every day, it would be terrific. But I'm sure we'll be back to random scenes of Summer and whatever other crap on Wednesday's ep.
