DAYS Actor and Actress Taken Off Contract

Ned and Olivia was one of those relationships I vastly preferred when we saw them in a supporting, more likeable role. A little of Olivia goes a very long way.

I just hope if he comes back they keep him away from Alexis. Ugh.

The worst move Days could make was to allow Dena Higley to write for the show a 3rd time after seeing she was unpopular the 1st two times. I am not much of a complainer, but dropping Wally Kurth and Judi Evans after just putting them on contract and the firing of Greg Vaughn is very disturbing. The death of Will was horrible enough along with the quick no story development of Lani being Abe's daughter, and Bo's quick death after returning to town the day before. Do I think the show is going be cancelled? No I don't, but they need Sherri Anderson back as head writer or Lorraine Broderick.

So Will's murdered. Bo's dead. Sami's off-screen until Sweeney needs a paycheck again. And now we have Vaughan out as Eric, Evans and Kurth off-contract so basically nothing for Adrienne and Justin ... damn. And not to mention Jennifer has been reduced to cameo appearances (not the most awful thing as she needs to be repaired and this is helping), Lucas doesn't get any airtime, Nicole is in storyline limbo and her prospects are slim (I'm hoping they pair Nicole and Irizarry's character) ....

Not looking good. Even though I'm more than OK not seeing Guy Wilson on my screen, Will shouldn't have been murdered and forgotten about (Ratings are down so BLAME THE GAYS!!! ... sigh) like he was nothing. His father was given a few bones and now mourns off-screen, Sami's return for his death was all about chasing after EJ and revenge on the DiMera's, Kate was too busy holding business meetings in the pub to remember her grandson and now she gets to bang her ex-lover's father. Great stuff here.

I'm not that sad about Justin and Adrienne. I feel terrible for Wally Kurth and Judi Evans, but sadly they're probably used to this. I've never really developed that attachement to Justin and Adrienne and always sort of found them as placeholders. The writers they've had in their returns really never gave them anything worthwhile though. Judi Evans turns in great work and I've always liked Kurth. But this isn't that much of a loss to me. It's just the idea that they're now dumping a lot of characters that have better ties for newbies that have newly created ties.

If Doug and Julie go back on a cruise I'll probably riot. DAYS is starting to lose my interest again even if the writing is ten times better than Tomsell.

Higley coming back was a biiiig mistake.

I mean, wasn't there a petition last time to get rid of Higley? A petition that worked. If that doesn't tell you what the audience thinks ...

This (and by this I mean taking them off contract and the general state of the show) is no surprise at all. The show was always going to get it somewhat right for the first months and it will soon plunge into darkness. There is no doubt, so I hope the Soap Gods pull a miracle.

Years ago when she was playing Bonnie she left and then turned right around with very little downtime and appeared as Adrienne, and I was so impressed with her for that.  Two very different roles but she changed her mannerisms a little, her hair, and she sold it.  I don't think most of the actors on soaps could do that.  Finola Hughes could, and then I am starting to draw a blank.

    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with Eric,a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he smashed into a mirror, dying of glass wounds. So there was a supernatural element. I wonder if the Brody character in the credits was Eric Brody?
