GH: Carlivati OUT! Passanante/Altman IN!!

Been out of the loop for awhile, but if I understand things correctly: Ron's contract was coming up for renewal and ABC decided to wait it out, but then the 13 weeks of lows could not be justified. So as to avoid possible cancellation talk, especially with November sweeps coming up, certain execs stepped in and made a change before others decided to pull a 2011.

Thank you, well-wishing fans. And thanks @carlivatiron for the moving, hilarious, romantic, suspenseful, nutty things you brought to #GH.

This is what Jean P just wrote on her twitter what a class act this woman is. It's well wishes but nothing personal he can't expect her not to take the job if offered.

The problem is that they replaced Ron with such talentless, oft-fired, humdrum head writers. If ABC execs really knew or cared about this show, they'd realize it's time to truly shake things up—hire a head writer or head writing team who get GH, and who would provide a fresh, creative, inspired approach. Jean and Shelley have been recycled through the soap mill so many times, Jean especially. Few except Jonnysbro (whom I suspect is Jean in drag!) think she's up to the task. GH's writing will undoubtedly be even more micromanaged from the network suits because they know Jean is essentially a "yes" woman. She wants a job, she wants to keep a job, and she does it by going along with whatever the network and EP directs. That's how she survived her days at ATWT by doing exactly what Chris Goutman, her EP, wanted. The network is just treading water with these two. Yes, Ron was beyond burned out. He needed to vacate the HW's chair two years ago, but to choose JP and SA? An uninspired, lackluster choice at best.

Just Watch.....we will all be rejoicing when Pratt is gone from Y&R but by January it will be Ron taking his place........

other then that, It's just hard to care who's in charge anymore if all they do is recycle the same hacks every 4 years......they are afraid of "new talent" and that's that......

Carlivati was bad beyond belief.

I don't care HOW mediocre Jean and Shelley are, at least their stories are coherent and don't happen off screen. At least they write scenes longer than 40 seconds. At least their turn to history doesn't mean a vet gets a day every two months. At least they write stories and not "neat scenes."

This is not the time to criticize the new writers. It's time to celebrate the firing of a writer who has taken GH to its worst quality EVER.

I LOVED HER TOO! She was crazy but great on Desperate Housewives! And that "The Powers That Be" show in which she was John Forsythe's daughter as well! Many people she would've done a great Maris on Frasier too
    • Hey boys, I know these aren’t really thirst traps but I think they belong here. Don’t ya agree?

    • That’s one of the things I’ve liked since the new writers came in; more interactions between characters that they hadn’t really had scenes with
    • Such a missed opportunity…
    • Loved Valerie Mahaffey as crazy as a box of frogs Sandy Cooper on Wings. 2025 needs to chill out already. May Ms. Mahaffey rest in peace.
    • She was great on there. And Wings. And so many shows. I don't feel like we get those character actors as much now.
    • Cady did have a southern accent as Dixie in her first few years playing the character... but it started to minimize the longer she played the character (which tracks because my aunt had a heavy southern accent when married my uncle and years living in the north has softened it quite a bit). Her initial stint playing Rosanna was partly due to mirroring the previous actress and eventually developing her own take on the character. And the thing about her take as Kelly on Y & R was that she was too sedate when she first took over playing the role (she was supposed to play a woman that had recently lost her child.. and trying to keep things together) and then went OTT crazy and didn't play it well.    And I don't care to remember her attempt at playing Jennifer on Days. I think this Pamela character is the first time she's playing a character from the start and I think she's like a kid at a candy store.  She's having so much fun trying different things... and I hope eventually she decides to settle on a more consistent character for Pamela (perhaps her love of accents is a character trait based on something traumatic that happened to her in the past maybe).
    • That's sad. I remember her mostly from ER and the shortlived, yet very funny, sitcom The Powers That Be.
    • As always loved seeing Ric with Liz. I hope the show forever keeps them in each others orbit even if it’s just platonic. I’m sure she’s going to cut him out when she finds out he’s blackmailing Alexis though. So darn.
