Jean Passanante @PFossil

@xxxxxx And, I'm no longer with Y&R so I'm glad you're still with me!

I am so sad to post that after almost a year and half with Y and R she has exited the series. I am so sad what Jean and Shelley did for Y and R last year was write smart TV. Heck Y and R best show off of their material. Jean penned the fabulous Sharon fallout, Jack/Phyllis in living room, the Delia Anniversary and it was serious slower paced but so Y and R. Unfortunately smart TV lost and they put an ego maniac named Pratt in the position. Jean I salute u darling for giving us riveting tv and I hope to see u soon. In fact I think she would be a great choice as Co head writer on GH with Ron. They adore each other and she would write great stuff for GH.

LOL. Pratt is awful but JP barely did much of anything except tread water and recycle and refashion old ATWT plots. I will say that she managed not to produce material that was as offensive as the shite that MAB trotted out but JP's writing was a long way down from good. Unfortunately, for the past few years now, mediocre to bad has now become the New Normal when it comes to Daytime Soaps.

Oh, as a kid who grew up loving ATWT in the mid 80s, I agree with you I had basically stopped watching and tried to pick it back up toward the end but just couldn't stand it, so I don't care about her and I refuse to applaud her for anything. She may not have replicated MAB's offensive style but she was getting worse as she went along and had she stayed on, she probably would've gotten offensive eventually.

Not to really defend Jean, but you really can't blame her for AW and ATWT cancellations. AW was on borrowed time for years, and NOTHING could've turned that ship around. As for ATWT, the show was clearly Goutman's vision. Anyway, P&G wanted out of the soap biz, so it was only matter of time. Her Y&R was nothing to write home about, but I don't think it was as awful as it is under Pratt.

Absolutely. And let's not forget that MAB was there for 5 years, her first year was, after that hack bitch from the depths of hell LML, a breath of fresh air - there is no doubt in my mind that JP was only going to sink to even lower depths. No surprise at all that she got the boot, I'm sure Sony was waiting for her contract time to run out.

    • Unpopular opinion, but the Chelsea coming out scene reeked of Afterschool Special and I really didn't care that we didn't see her coming out to her grandparents.  We were spared the 'We're Duprees and we're better than everyone' speech. As a gay person, I kind of like watching straight people acting all messy and cringey (which is why I probably have a soft spot for Ashley/Derek... and sometimes wish Jacob would take his balls back from his warden Naomi) LOL If the show were willing to take risks, I would think the Dani arc is basically a 2020's version of Betty Broderick... but I doubt Dani would actually shot/kill Bill and Hayley.  Though I do have a feeling that if Hayley is pregnant that Dani will cause to miscarry the baby.
    • I don't think that's clever, though. Maybe the writers should forget about throwing shade and write dialogue and story for Ashley and Derek that isn't boring and doesn't paint them as boring.   I agree -- both of those still need a ton of work. I still say the fades to commercials look like someone walked past the camera and hit the OFF button.   Yep, this was regression in every way. Dani was all hopped up with Chelsea like she'd taken some party drug, and then it got worse when she literally broke into Bill and Hayley's house.   -- The fakeout scene was good, but I don't want them to go to that well too often. They're already in danger of doing that. -- I'm good with Brandon Claybon's acting style. It's different, but in a good way. -- It was an interesting turn to have Tyrell question Jessica's intentions. -- I didn't see anything special about the plated food on today's show. At Orphey Gene's, it looked like everyone had a plate of french fries.
    • Diana's BSOD in Gary and Abby's hot tub is yet another gif-worthy moment.
    • I'm sure once the next budget comes in, they'll develop another community lot.
    • I agree; she's always spoken highly of her time on World Turns and how they treated her as a professional at that point.
    • That’s why I mentioned another bar.
    • Who says they won't, though? I mean, Bill doesn't even know, yet, either.
    • Julianne Moore has always spoken positively of her time on As the World Turns. She also had the good fortune of being on that show during the Calhoun/Marland era when it was at its creative peak. Hard to believe that April 2 was 40 years since Julianne Moore first As the World Turns episode.
    • You forgot Uptown. They eat and meet up there too. And don't forget Kat & Tomas' date in the Richardson living room.
    • Today was the Dani I can’t stand. She had been doing so good for a few weeks here.
