I finally heard back from Cheeks this evening. The big obstacle has been Ted Harbert who really wants to move to low cost info/talk shows instead of DOOL after next season. Despite this (and Harberts objection), NBC will agree to two more years of DOOL at $775K next season and $750K the following season, provided we go up from our current proposal of $4.25m to settle the Community issue to $4.50m. How do you feel about $4.50m? Given Harberts strong push for alternative programming after the next season, I think were better off locking in 2 years of DOOL now and paying the additional $250K.

Steve, heres the financial impact if we were to agree to what NBC is proposing with the 2nd year pickup on Days, but the reduction in license fees.

Jeff,

Based on the current scenario ($4.25m) payment to NBC, and 2 season pickup for Days at $750k and $725k license fee (vs current fee of $775k), the total profit impact to SPT is ($4.1m) ebit. The impact would be realized over the next four fiscal years. Approx ($1m) impacting each year as indicated below:

FY14 - $1m (payment to NBC)

FY15 - $1.5m ($1m- payment to NBC, $500k lower license fee on Days)

FY16 - $1.1m (all lower license fee on Days)

Fy17 - $500k (all lower

These emails are juicy - and surprisingly, to some fans I'm sure, it doesn't appear as if NBC or the execs at Sony hate soaps.

There is a Y&R one that shows a huge audience watching on DVR that ultimately doesn't count, because daytime gets same day only returns from Nielsen, but the email shows the same day plus 7 that primetime gets and at that time raised Y&R up to over 5Million viewers. They mention Days in a positive light in the same message but don't show tha numbers.

There is a potential problem with an actor on Days who has been accused of inappropriate behavior with another actors daughter. Paula is aware

I need to know who this is.

This is not good. Daytime has always been about soaps..This is BS..and I hate it..Have watched all the soaps since day one..recorded them because I still work and they don't count? Excuse for them to cancel. IMO

Thoughts on this past week

I feel like this past week was the most boring so far of 2015!!! The only enjoyable parts were seeing priest john flashback clip- I really appreciate the flashbacks! And I enjoyed the Marlena/Will scenes where Marlena compared will's behavior to Sami.. That was nice writing. The only problem is that Guy Wilson's acting in No way can compare with Ali Sweeney's... Seeing Eileen Davidson is always great. But can we please see her interact with Marlena, John, Brady, even Theresa... Someone.. Did anyone else notice that Daniel was on like what 4 or all 5 episodes this week. I can't... Please get the new writers here ASAP!!

This week actually felt like it picked up for me -- the stuff surrounding Paul's paternity and the Kristen stuff all had some actual spark. But then you put on this Daniel/Nicole nonsense, Serena bumbling around, and JJ/Paige, and the whole show goes south fast.

Victor: "You're gonna have to call a cab, I had your car towed."

Oh Victor never change. Lovely to see a Victor/Lucas scene AND a Kate/Victor scene in the same show.

Loved, loved, loved all the stuff with Victor, Kate, Lucas, and Adrienne today. Very strong writing and acting. I loved Lucas calling Kate out on all her scheming to split up him and Sami, as well as leaving him for dead in that fire at the K Mansion all those years ago.

It's amazing how much more engaging this show is when it centers on these long-standing characters and the plots are about their interactions.
