I admit, I guess a part of me should be pleased--but, as you say--it is hard to swallow sometimes when you feel a story and character are forced on you--when they could have and should have cut their losses back then--only to have the writer after all of that just sorta shrug his shoulders, say "meh," get tired of his fave toy and have that character or storyline just kinda quickly be swept under the rug.
