Dr. Sarah Potts (Shortland Street) - One of the biggest Mary Sue characters I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing. Anytime someone even remotely hurts her I revel in glee. Sactimonious, hypocrticial, holier than thou stupid bitch. I can't wait to see the look on her face when she finds out her friend, who already has stolen her job, is sleeping with her hunky ex-husband/baby daddy. She will flip and it will be joyous.

Going back into ABC history

AMC- Becca Tyree (first name that came to mind when I read this), Laurel, Anita Santos, Ryan Lavery (the later years), Laura English (recast edition), Randi, Marissa 1.0, Del (not sure if we were supposed to love him but I hated that SMG Kendall got stuck with him)

GH- Lily, Miguel, Chloe Morgan, Abby, all the OLTL 3 reincarnated madness, Jenny Eckert, mid-2000s & beyond Carly/Jason/Sonny (with occasional flashes of non-hatred),

OLTL- Patrick Thornhart, Melanie MacIver, Gigi, all the Fords, Antonio Vega (post very early in his run), Cole, Grace Davidson-Rappaport, Maggie Carpenter,

Too many to count. I'll start off with Dixie, boy, did I hate her. She practically seduced a married Adam after Brooke befriended her and everyone went around acting like she was Adam's victim. To top it off, Brooke was her bridesmaid in her wedding to Tad. Of course, then there was her twin of the next generation, Babe. Next, the horrible Jenn Rappaport. I did a jig when she died a horrible death.

Two words that became the bane of my ATWT existence.... Katie Peretti. The eternally perky one dumped Mike, dropped dime on Jen to Craig to get him back, got caught screwing Mike by Jen and told her "I want to be your friend", then proceeded to cheat on him with Simon, blamed Simon for it until she chased him out of town, then moved on to Jack without taking a breath. Continually treated Henry like a lapdog, oh, and actually got mad at Vienna for nearly giving her her and Henry's child after V miscarried hers&Brad's--"accidently" causing V's own miscarriage as she ran after Katie to beg her forgiveness. I have never been so satisfied to see a new bride cheated on or become a widow and get denied her HEA.

She was later joined by her sister from another mother, Janet Ciccone. Don't get me started. Literally overnight she went from man-obsessed, neglectful mother to Italian earth mother---literally displacing Emma from her own kitchen. Three years ATWT's been gone, and I still get hives thinking about it.

I don't really watch the other soaps (used to watch DAYS) but couldn't agree more on the bolded (except OLTL's Blair. Used to like Matthew but not anymore.) For OLTL, I'd also add Jack, Jen Rappaport, Spencer Truman, and Antonio to that list. For Passions, I would add Luis, Katherine, Charity, and Jessica (I especially couldn't stand Danica Stewart's Jessica.)

    • Yeah, I don't really love Felicity being used to push the Chad/Cat agenda.  I don't get the question on Xander's behavior either.  He was wrong and offensive. I like Xander.  I think Paul Telfer is great.  If Marlena did the same thing I would say she's wrong too.  Characters are imperfect and that's fine.
    • Vanessa told Joey that her best friend had cheated and has a surprise daughter.  Joey said the same had happened to him.  I wasn't sure if Joey was saying he has an adult out-of-wedlock child?
    • Interesting. I definitely think that it's possible that Jan could be a former lover of Joey's from back in the day, maybe back when he was still married. I won't be surprised if it comes out at some point that Jan used to be an escort or something.
    • Quick question, How are you guys making time to watch all these soaps? I consider myself a pretty organized person, but since I have committed to watching more of the older soaps. I feel all over the place, and can not figure out a schedule that seems to work.  How are you all doing it?   Thanks. I will check that out.
    • Oh, poor Henry had to wait for the grave to finally come "out"! The whole things was McTavish plot dictated so that Hart could have money to pull off his scam of Roger later. The fortune is totally forgotten later. Which reminds me WHY did they fire Hilliard who actually could kinda pass for a midwestern farm boy..from JOISEY Grillo? AM and Lucy's wedding has got to be the weirdest wedding up to that point and really exemplified the McLaiby cheesy run. Universal Studios? And the Spauldings shut the place down for the wedding that only involves 6 people??? Its not even that weird that Bridget and David arent there...they didn't even invite AM's Mom or Grandfather...
    • It seems easy to be empathic that if a random man raised his voice to me at the mall today, I would not be appeased if he later went and apologized to my sister. I like giving the character more to do, because there is a value in representing a person with a congenital disorder being employed, given that the unemployment rate in that community tops 83%.  I just hope they find a voice for the character that matches her functioning ability.  As for Cat, I wonder if she is going to inherit any of Clyde's money?  And that was the reason for the phone call.  I know he's not dead, but he could have named her family as the beneficiary of some insurance policy if he were to be incapacitated.  And the call could have been an attorney trying to reach her to give her money.
    • Oh you may have been watching the Teresa/Tom storyline...or "Terry the tumor" as she was called.
    • Are these new?! Damn, he is in the prime of his life.
    • He is a 40 year old large grown man "raising his voice" and calling a teenage girl "careless".  That's inappropriate.  I am not going to argue at the octave of his voice although I would consider it yelling.  Felicity was visibly upset.  She also has special needs, but it would be wrong to do that to anyone in general.  Xander was out of line.  He didn't immediately apologize or admit he was wrong until Princess Sarah was okay.  Idk, go find your wife's epipen instead of berating a young girl.  Or, you know, Sarah could have asked if there was any pistachio in her scone as a pre-caution.  That's how most people with allergies that severe order things. I do think this story or plot point is silly, but acting like Xander did nothing wrong is just strange.  Even if Felicity DID do something wrong was he just going to continue to go on and on while his wife was going into shock?  That's the proper reaction lol.
