Because males aren't thought of as being victims by women. If a man was doing this to Eric, most would feel the way as if a man did it to a woman. It's interesting really.

It is a double standard, and it isn't that the same time. I know a lot of (straight) guys who would brush it off as a shag is a shag. Some would even receive an ego boost that some woman went to all that trouble just to bag them because they reckon they are so fine. But Eric Brady isn't one of those guys- he takes his vows seriously. And the fallout for him will be huge.

I'm rather conflicted tbh.

Can you quit it with the untagged spoiler talk? Its bad enough you do it all over the OLTL thread, but to come in another soap's thread and find a way to make a spoilerish post all about Jack Manning?

No, it's def a double standard. Not o start a huge issue and I'm not judging because this is a tv show and all, but your basically saying tape is fine as long as the other person doesn't care. If he'd just bang her anyway or not doesnt matter, she took his choice away. Society doesn't really support male victims esp ones of rape and if you look at all the talk of tape in the military in recent years you'll see that illustrated. If male rape is mentioned as a part of that its usually in passing. Who knew in 2013 Days would be creating these conversations? Wow.

These convos are why I love this place though.

I can't even go into the DAYS thread without talk of Jack [!@#$%^&*] Manning...seriously, you need help.

I was only referencing that upcoming story to this one about whether what Kristen did to Eric would be classified as rape if it was a male victim and a female rapist and how it's a total double standard, that's all

You know as well as I do that the show has been this level of quality since roundabout Christmas. Yes, the stories climaxed in May sweeps, but the quality has been about the same over this period. But it is only now that these so-called journalists have begun to gush. If they had any credibility, they would have been gushing then as they do now, since nothing has really changed in the last 6 months. It's an indictment on them that they cannot critically assess a show, but instead follow internet sentiment like sheeple and fangurls.

For all we know, the show may have already creatively peaked if the next batch of stories are not as good as the last ones. But these "industry professionals" will be the last to call it, like they do with GH now and MAB at Y&R in the past. How is anyone supposed to respect such opinions then?

Actually, some of those tweets are from January and February. And while the show was still good, there was a dip in quality March/April with the all-Chloe, all the time period, and then a pickup again in May. So I don't see any issues with the way they were reacting and when they were the most vocal.

Watching some of that Kristen/Eric stuff...Kristen's wig and dress looked like something from Lisa Rinna circa 1997.

I must say Eileen looked very hot though. And the Pepe Le Pew accent was quite something. I always prefer seeing ED in campy/fun stuff than in drudgery and angst, even if the story itself is distasteful.

I can see why someone said this reminded them of JER. The whole fakeout with Eric almost recognizing her voice was very JER.

It's a straight up double standard and I didn't find it hot at all. Eric was drugged and the result of those drugs, put him in a situation, that he wasn't able to be in control or say no.

I just hope that Nicole, takes a moment to think about what she's walked into and doesn't jump to the simple, easy and totally ridiculous conclusion: that Eric wanted to have sex with Kirsten.

Kristen sexually assaulted an innocent priest (with possibility of rape to follow) and I am glued to my screen. Seriously I should be appalled yet I'm not - I'm fascinated by her diabolical plan.

It's funny... in the real world whenever you hear about a priest and rape, the priest isn't the victim. lol.

Anyway, the Kristen/Eric scene was hot hot hot and this is the first time I've given a crap about GV in the role. Kristen makes other characters so much more interesting.

Knowing Days, I doubt Nicole will end up walking in on them - the room she entered wasn't lit, so she'll probably end up in Kristen's room instead of Eric's.
