You see, I like you, but you keep making this same statement over and over again. I have not forgotten that Y&R was "frequently boring." It was not. If I had found it boring, I would not keep watching. For someone making multiple posts in various threads about people making assumptions and generalizations (about Stafford, Phelps, etc), it's surprising to me you make your own. :)

Even if the writing was indeed frequently boring, that doesn't mean we should happily take the current boring-ness.

I never understood the appeal of Kyle/Fish (OLTL), Sonny/Will (Days), or Luke/Noah (ATWT). All three were/are horribly boring. I liked Kyle/Fish as standalone characters and adored their friendship with Cris/Layla but they never clicked for me a couple. I don't see a drop of chemistry between Sonny and Will. Will has more with EJ. Luke/Noah were okay as teenagers but the writing never did them any favors. Noah sparked more with Maddie and Luke sparked more with Casey (can't recall if they're related) and later on Reid. I did enjoy the love story between Natalia and Olivia (GL).

EJ/Will was a cheap porn fantasy more than anything else, and exposed Massey's worst acting habits. It was based on the idea that being gay is about tawdry leering and something dirty, that gay men exist to be degraded by straight men they can never have, and a way to keep Will from actually having a love story. The only person I've seen Will have chemistry with is Gabi, which defeats the whole point of the story. I wish they'd recast the character.

I liked Kyle and Fish, I thought the actors had great chemistry. The writing was formulaic (the coming out story was trite, there was no need for a baby story no one wanted to see - the lunacy of people who were together for a few months put into a story where they would be raising a child) and offensive (using a gay-bashing to keep a man - great message).

I mostly thought Luke was asexual.

I mourned Luna intensely as a 3rd grader. I only recently found out as an adult that most OLTL fans did not reciprocate my feelings. I enjoyed every single one of her cheesy guest angel appearances. But now that I'm not 8, I can kind of see how she limited Max's character. I remain upset that her children were never brought back to Llanview as teens in the 2000s.

The only soap character I mourned even harder is I think another unpopular opinion- Maria Santos Grey. I remember bawling when they played the slowed down pearls opening (I think the day after she died?) It seemed so symbolic to me at the time. I refused to go to the beach and stayed with my grandmother to watch her funeral. I started watching in late 1993 so the Santos invasion had already sort of begun and I had no idea they were one of those new families displacing the "core." Her badly handled returned did not make me happy but I enjoyed seeing her pop up the final week on ABC.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion here but I've seen tons of clamoring on other sites for Roxy to return. While I'm not opposed, she's not even in my top 30 characters I hope pop up on OLTL 2.0 and I was surprised so many seem really adamant that she should have been part of the reboot.

You're right. I take that back. Though I personally thought Y&R was boring much of the time when I started watching in the 90s. The only times I was ever glued to the show was when a psycho was running around (Mari Jo, Phyllis, Veronica).

You're not alone. From what I've seen of her on Ryan's Hope as Delia, I love; however, I didn't care for Roxy. I didn't love or hate her, she was just there IMO, and I think that's the worst reaction someone can get on a TV show . . . indifference. She took up space IMO along with David Vickers, who I don't care for either and don't know why he's on OLTL 2.0. ph34r.png Tuc's sexiness is the only thing going for this character.

Tuc is also fairly known outside of soaps, and is attached to Dorian. I don't think he's needed either, but I 'get' it. I'd be happy to see Roxy, I thought Ilene added a great deal to a throwaway role, pathos, humor, etc. but I don't think she was needed.

I don't think Kim Matula is a good actress. Is she bad? No. But she's very much like Genie Francis - Very good at playing the young, innocent ingenue. Any time she's given anything bigger, she flounders. (Though I will say, generally, I think Genie is a better actress and has had moments of greatness in dramatic stories. Kim not so much.)

Kim and Genie are like 50 years apart. I understand you may not like Kim -- this is the unpopular opinions thread after all -- but how can you compare her with GF? Just asking.

Now back OT:

- KKL is a good actress.

- DD is a total fail as Bill Spencer. They act as if he should be B&B's Victor Newman, but DD is too much of a good guy and he just can't pull it off.

- I dislike Jess Walton's portrayal of Jill Foster because I think she puts a lot of nuances of weakness into the character that were not needed and contributed to Jill being written as an old shrew.
