After more than two decades on The Bold and the Beautiful, Ronn Moss is leaving the CBS soap where he’s played fashion magnate Ridge Forrester since the show’s 1987 inception, EW has learned exclusively.

An insider tells EW that CBS imposed cuts on the show’s production company, Bell Phillip Television, which were passed on to actors via salary cuts just as Moss’ contract was up for renewal. The actor decided the reduced pay was unacceptable and left on his own accord. Moss could not be reached for comment.

Production company Bell Phillip Television confirmed the exit. “Ronn has spent an amazing 25 years with B&B,” a rep for Bell Phillip said in a statement. “We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors.”

Moss was one of the so-called “core four” on Bold, referring to the foursome of original actors still on the show, including Susan Flannery as Stephanie Forrester, John McCook as Eric Forrester, and Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan.

Not a wise decision on Ronn's part. It's not like anyone else is going to employ him as an actor.

I bet Brad is regretting firing Jack Wagner now. :D

Ronn doesn't need anyone to employ him as an actor. He has made a very handsome salary on the show - if the show had gone to an hour, by union rules, the show would have had to increase the actors' salaries by 40% and it would have made Ronn the highest paid actor is soapland, even over Susan Lucci.

He also has a healthy income from outside projects overseas. The man doesn't need to work another day in his life, but if he wants to work, he can still find plenty of work internationally. If he doesn't, then he can simply enjoy early retirement - he isn't that far off.

Brad doesn't know how to budget, and CBS has been slashing away since the mid 2000s. The show is doomed - the one thing it had going for it was its international appeal, and as Brad chops away at the veterans, when CBS decides to pull the plug, he won't have any of the actors left to keep it afloat overseas.

I hope not. Nick was dead weight. I'd rather they put Hunter Tylo in drag than bring him back.

They should bring on a new young guy for Brooke to screw. It's a waste not to have someone as hot as KKL in sex scenes.

Don't worry You still have Drake Hogestyn around for those memorable " acting " moments.

Ouch. I normally don't care for the whole "shame on actors who don't want salary cuts" shamefest, but I do wonder at what Moss balked at, given that none of the other vets have left over salary.

Ronn was not hurting, and will not be hurt by leaving. May simply be a matter of respect for him. SF, JMc, RM, KKL and HT have been paid well, but they have also made the Bells a fortune. If Brad learned to stay in budget, maybe the actors would be more willing to take cuts - and just because no one else has walked yet, doesn't mean there aren't more problems brewing - but Brad literally throws money down the drain with his lack of ability to get scripts in on a timely manner, which causes a domino effect on production and costs.

As for NLG, any contract actor on an hour show is making at least union minimum with a 1 show guarantee (unless they sign a waiver to make less and the union would have something to say about that), which is still around $100,000 a year, more than most people.

NLG just needs to STFU! Anything she says is self serving and always disguised as standing up for something that's right. Can't stand her! I like(d) Alexis but never cared for NLG!

Could it be that it is just a publicity stunt while RM takes a few months off to work -let's say- in Europe? B&B without Ridge is something that I never saw coming. but if this is true Ridge should be killed off in a dramatic way. Something like Phillip Chancellor's car accident that will cause war between Brooke and Stephanie, Taylor and Steffy.

If Bill hadn't been involved with Steffy I'd like to see him as Stephanie and Bill Spencer's son. Insta-Ridge.

Perhaps TPTB are preparing Rick or Thomas as the new Ridge.

No to Nick. No to Thorne. Their stories have been told, especially with these leading ladies.
