GH: Discussion for the Month of February

Ha good, I'm not as impressed as you, but I wasn't sure if my more positive than expected opinion was just due to being such an infrequent viewer the past 15 years or not... (The last time I tried hard--just to see the hype--was when Franco came on the scene. I lasted about three days).

As for this Molly story--from using MyFace (or has GH always used that term), to other elements, I can't help thinking that, though it started under the past regime, this is a RC story.

Poor Anna. She's trying to hold it together right now, but you could see when Patrick said Robin was burned beyond recognition and she leaned against the nurses station...it's not going to last forever. sad.png

Either Mac or Robert are going to cause her to break down.

And I'm dreading the moment when Emma finds out. That poor adorable little girl sad.png .

Power Ranger Courtney was 2003.

2004 was the introduction of JaSam by way of Sam & Sonny's (stillborn) baby, Lila's death, Nikolas/Emily/Connor & Mary Bishop (which lead to Emily's rape -- a real gem  )... By now, Courtney was relieved of her morphin powers and was brought into Jax's universe.

So... I don't really see how these last two weeks compare to that era but... whatever! :)

It's so sad watching Anna lose another child. Leora's death is one of my earliest big soap moments and I'm at the beginning of todays GH and it's very sad. I can't believe Finola has been unemployed so long. Anna should've been back (at AMC) long ago. She's such a chilling actress. Her denial when Robin's death was written across Patrick's face was something else.

Yeah one of the scenes was ten minutes, right when McTavish came back--I remember even my mom went on about what an amazing scene it was for a soap (I'm sure it's on youtube). I thought Finola didn't want to go back to do an East coast soap or any soap long term for a while, Chris and it was her decision ?

Wow. Sam was above and beyond her normal awful, selfish norm today. And Monica is just as bad.

Ha, so much truth.

The actor is very natural.

She is honestly awful. And she looks a good 15 years younger than Sonny, its jarring. But seriously, in her scenes it feels like SNL is making fun of soaps.

Of course its the best GH has been in years its FV/RC. It's 'better" because things are happening and I have to admit the pace seems a lot better. But I mean really Jasons 1000th brain trauma and Sonny shot for the upteenth time is good? It might be if one of them actually dies.Guza was a destructive writer but his sweeps events good. I thought the train wreck was the best and was not mob slanted and lots of people got to be heroic not just Jason, including the women. Carly, Robin, Emily, even Alexis got good focus .

It seems GH might be headed to some real teen stories and thats good. This show last had decent teen stories, well not since the late 90's.And the actors that play Molly and TJ are very natural and charismatic.Still don't like Michael or the actor but he was better yesterday because he fit. I don't like Starr but the character might actually fit Michael. She has some maturity but is still a teen. I also think Shawn works so much better as TJ's enforcer than running after Carly. The rest of the show barring Patrick and Anna was zzzzz.

Unpopular but I don't think the Kate actress is bad. Shes no worse than most on GH or OLTL were barring a few and the OTT acting fits a campy FV show. NOw shes not Kate nor is she anywhere near as good as Megan but I kind of feel shes been playing this DiD ish the way FV wants. Campy. As for her acting making fun of soaps you actually hit the nail on the head.Under FV/RC OLTL became one giant soap parody. You only had to watch the teen bullying story, a social issue story and how that was handled to see that.

    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
