Four OLTL actors heading to GH

MICHAEL:

OLTL fans received some exciting news the other day, in the midst of the sadness of this week when it was confirmed that you and GH exec producer, Frank Valentini are bringing over, Kassie DePaiva, Kristen Alderson, Roger Howarth and Michael Easton from One Life and transplanting them to GH. Obviously, first and foremost, this is an effort to bring fans of OLTL over to GH to help increase the ratings of the ailing soap. How come this group from Llanview; the Mannings and John McBain, were chosen and given a one-way ticket from Llanview, PA to Port Charles, NY?

RON:

It is definitely something I thought about right away. I think that anything we can do to help GH and bring up the ratings and bring any more eyeballs on to the screen from OLTL, is absolutely the reason we should do it. I think creatively it makes sense. It will give OLTL fans an opportunity to get a glimpse of what happened after the finale. And what I want to say to the General Hospital fans is, “This is meant to help enhance the show not take anything away from GH. It is a wonderful show and I would not be going there to write it, if I didn’t think so.” It is a story and it is about weaving some of these people into Port Charles. First and foremost, it is about the people of Port Charles, and I will talk more about that when the time comes. I just want to say to everybody that may have concerns, that it’s all going to be good.

^^ He's just got to remember to walk softly with this one because many fans don't see this as anything more than an invasion of his pets.

On the upside, at least it's newbies that come with history so some of their interactions will be easier to understand for people who have watched OLTL. But if any viewers don't have an experience of OLTL this is going to be potentially rough.

At least the Mannings have a LONG history on daytime and ME has an ABC history with Port Charles already.... This makes some sense to me and should be accepted more than if 'the pets' like JPL and FF, for examples, were brought over. Actors that were only on in the latter years.

I'd still love for Melissa Archer to go too. sad.png I understand though.

It's funny because I don't even think RC likes John all that much, I don't think he has any real use for Blair, and RHTodd is mostly a prop for Tea. I have to wonder how much say he had in who went over.

I think it has more to do with the fact that they are all tied to the cliffhanger barring KA which I don't get at all. I assume Ted King, FL, and maybe TSJ will show up as arrivals in some capacity even if its shortterm for exactly the same reason.

I wonder if KA is just down to the show having no young women in that age range. She may be a placeholder until they recast Kristina.

I hope they won't do Michael/Starr - they look way too much alike.

It could have been a golden chance to bring Ned and Dillon back and resurrect L&B records and Starr(vomiting) could by their new find. And yes even JPL as Dillon

LOL, hadn't even thought of their physical resemblance. But I do agree that they need someone else in that demographic who's not a sibling/cousin for Michael.

Well insiders (arguably questionable) are suggesting that Ned and Dillon are under consideration, so we'll see. I'll warm up considerably if Starr brings Tracy's boys home.

According to everybody's favorite, Nelson Branco, Trevor is headed to GH!!!!!! That's it, I will be watching GH... Why the F-CK didn't ABC just cancel GH at this rate!?? Crazy. I kind of feel bad for GH fans- this will be a fine line to walk for Frank and Ron. This should be an interesting 9 months. (Because there is no way GH will live past 2012) Other than and episode here or there in 2009 I have not watched GH since 1993. I am a Genie Francis fan and hope she will return.

I think that it could be that they need Starr's help in hiding him (if that's what happens)--girlfriend did help her Dad bust out of jail, they could need her again.

Which, given that I love my Mannings and REALLY feel that Starr should be studying to be an awesome Adventure Biologist (as opposed to a pop singer--she's ALWAYS loved creepy animals and she could stay on to go to PCU and then the med school), I say BRING IT ON! smile.png

But of course, be careful given that they'll be new to GH smile.png .

Great post. I do think it's possible to merge these two shows successfully but I think it will be hard. You have a lot of GH viewers that are already resentful. And what do you do for the GH viewers that have no idea who these characters are? Are they going to waste a lot of airtime telling us about them? I'm not sure how it's going to work.

KA and MA were on SOC Live last night and they said KA said she wasn't offered the GH deal until this past week. I bet they were waiting on RH to agree before they asked her and KDP.

    • Some of those 1988-ish episodes are up. I'm not really sure she did much else. I think I recall something along the lines of she and Rusty had been suspended over the investigation of Nicky, George's supplier. I'm not sure she even gets some kind of goodbye. I think she just disappeared when Pam Long returned.
    • I did not care, just clarifying that was the discussion point. If there are ice cream bars in Statesville I am sure there is a full spa
    • Seeing Peter Bergman (Jack) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) act opposite each other really makes me mad that their short-lived reunion in 2012 was just that... short-lived. I've always loved the Jack/Nikki pairing.
    • No.  I recall there was also a mention about how distracting it was EOB's Gwen wasn't wearing nail polish as well.  That it was someone's pet peeve. And, yes, the fact characters can have a manicure in prison is the wildest continuity issue here.
    • Can anyone remember Mary Ellen Stuart's run as Jenny? I'm trying to fill in the cracks for missing stuff that we overlooked.  Bulletpoints:  * Dated Ross * Rusty's police partner * Directly responsible for Dinah coming forward about George Stewart (Cam's father)
    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton twirling his invisible moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
