April 7, 201213 yr Member Maybe Ron will bring on Higley as a co-head. At this point it doesnt matter with JP back in action...I am just waiting for all the soaps to be cancelled so all the hack writers can be unemployed. At this point I just watch Days and dont even have time for B&B. Once GL and ATWT left....I pretty much didnt care about the soaps surviving.......cruel but true.
April 7, 201213 yr Member One of these days, it's gonna look like this: [Enter Soap Name Here] Written by RON CARLIVATI HOGAN SHEFFER DENA HIGLEY MEGAN McTAVISH & [Enter Script Writers Here] ...I just know it. Edited April 7, 201213 yr by Khan

You know, for all the hate she gets around here, Jean Passanante wrote a solid ATWT from 2005-late 2006 and mid 2009- the end. Frankly, ATWT was the best soap on the air the year it was yanked, bar none. Not that it's saying much, but I honestly couldn't wait to tune in every day. There are hacks (like the current and previous Y&R regimes, McTavish, Pratt, Guza, and Dena Higley) that are FAR worse than Passanante IMO
April 8, 201213 yr Member There are hacks (like the current and previous Y&R regimes, McTavish, Pratt, Guza, and Dena Higley) that are FAR worse than Passanante IMO That may be your opinion, however... having witnessed Jean Passanante's HORRIFIC writing as sole-head writer at All My Children (where there was no story, episode pacing was botched and no pay offs to cliff hangers), I can say that, as much as I detest the STORIES McTavish tells, she's at least levels above Passanante in storytelling. McTavish may ignore-slash-rewrite history, however, she pays attention to detail when it comes to writing her stories. Passanante wrote things on AMC that made absolutely no sense. Still, to this day, I don't get how Mateo was able to leave Pine Valley, fly to the Caribbean, find Arlene and bring her back just in time to prove Hayley didn't kill her... all in one episode. What should've taken a week in story took a mere six acts.

I know I'm in a very, very small minority here but I actually prefer McTavish over any other headwriter AMC had in its last 10 years and that includes Broderick. Edited April 8, 201213 yr by Graham
April 8, 201213 yr Member I know I'm in a very, very small minority here but I actually prefer McTavish over any other headwriter AMC had in its last 10 years and that includes Broderick. I would agree with you there, although I thought Broderick's wrapup of the show was satisfying (aside from the rushed "Minx" stuff with JR as a rageaholic bigot).
April 8, 201213 yr Member Funny..another fired former days writer..just end days She was fired by Langan. A badge of honor, not a mark of shame
April 8, 201213 yr Member TV source (Soap Opera Source) report that LB will be Days' 3rd HW http://tvsourcemagazine.com/soaps/news/2500-lorraine-broderick-named-co-head-writer-at-days-of-our-lives
April 8, 201213 yr Member Three headwriters? There is something to say about the adage, "Too many cooks in the kitchen."
April 10, 201213 yr Member She served the same role on the last few months of OLTL--and I didn';t really see it affect the quality good or bad (at least not good...)
April 10, 201213 yr Member They updated their article to say that Broderick is only a breakdown writer.
April 10, 201213 yr Author Administrator Daytime Confdential reports that Lorraine will be a breakdown writer. That means LB's Job will be deciding what happens in every episode and scene , so basically the pacing of Gary & Chris' long -term stories. Then the scriptwriters write the dialogue No. The pacing is determined by the HW not the BDW.
April 10, 201213 yr Author Administrator Another FOF joins GH: - Michael Eilbaum first listed as Director on April 10
