I enjoy both too, although I have seen very little of either version. I think the character was about the same, although with less humor.

It's a shame they never did anything with her after this - nothing against Tina Sloan, but if we needed a nurse to stay around for years and years and years, I would have much preferred Katie over Lillian.

Thanks so much Roger for another great DVD. I can't wait to order it. It's also a nice mix of the earlier vets and newer. It'll be great to see more Charita Bauer and Millette Alexander as Bert and Sara and some of Ellen Demming as Meta. I can't wait to see it.

It was black and white and rather cool. There is a spring issue of SOD from 1992 that has a behind the scenes at GL photo gallery with it in the background if you happen to have that issue CarlD2. One of the shots is of Michael Zaslow in the green room with the collage behind him. That's how I recognized it when I got the 8 x 10. I don't have the time today to scan it, but it is on my list.

I've been faithfully ordering from Soapclassics in the hopes of supporting future releases but I don't think I can justify this one- 2 episodes with NSA as Michelle and her on the DVD box. Worst recast ever- she completely destroyed characters. Plus 2 episodes with RB who was terrible as Michelle? Joie is THE definitive Michelle who kept the Bauers viable when TPTB were pretty much done with them and the only Michelle worth featuring. Glad to see this set as a treat for longtime viewers who certainly deserve their classics. Hopefully younger/newer fans will get some love from Soapclassics (Jammy, Otalia, real Manny, ATWT's Will/Gwen & Simon/Katie were POPULAR) on one of these releases- can't justify buying this one when there are maybe 3 eps (Manny wedding, anything with Annie, final BBQ) that I would actually watch more than once and the 70s/very early 80s ones I just have absolutely zero interest in. Anyway, I know that's an unpopular opinion and I hope everyone who is excited about ordering enjoys.

I do not know that your opinion is necessarily umpopular. People like what they like. Personally, I have zero interest in anything after 1990, and even some of the 80s material only holds moderate interest for me. Like you, as much as I want this project to succeed, I do not want to purchase a whole set just for a few episodes. However, the 1973 episode of Papa Bauer's funeral more than justifies the cost of this new set to me.

I realize that soapclassics wants to appeal to everyone and hopes that a variety of years on the dvds will lure many diverse people to buy, but I fear as with us, it may backfire. What they should do is offer everything on demand, the way some dvd distributors do. Individuals may be more encouraged to buy if they can get exactly what they want. The younger/newer fans can have their campy plots and contemporary production values, and us oldtimers can get the quality writing and acting we seek.

Kudos to Roger Newcomb for unearthing the Papa Bauer treasure. Send him love, GL fans.

I do agree that they need to feature more current stuff to balance out the older stuff. A Nuke, Jammy, Katie, Will/Gwen or Olivia collection would make sense. You have to have something for everyone. I wouldn't necessarily be interested in all of the recent stuff, but knowing how popular Nuke or Otalia are, it's foolish not to have something out for them. IMO, I wouldn't do just an Otalia collection and would focus on Olivia's entire time on the show.

I do wish they had a tracking number like Amazon or some way to track our packages. I've been waiting a long time for my DVDs. :(

I saw the new GL release and was thrilled it was featuring the Bauers but most of the selections don't appeal to me. Like another poster mentioned there is too much Michelle and Danny..the downfall of GL...and too much current stuff. I am wondering if maybe the dvd releases should be about storylines instead of various episodes of popular characters. There are some episodes on the releases that you want to see the follow up episode once again and then there are others which I dont even care to see. Maybe there should be a real classic release of 80s stuff and another release of more current stuff. Even I who liked Nuke at the beginning dont want a Nuke DVD release....its just too soon for that or even a Luke and Reid DVD.
