Thanks, that's interesting to know.

Also, it seems like a missed opportunity to not make Elizabeth and Sarah into Terri's daughters because there would have been less fan concern about her return.  Although in writing that I realized that (a) their last name wouldn't have been Webber if Terri got married and had kids, and (b) Elizabeth wouldn't have had a connection to Audrey Hardy, if she wasn't her (step?) grandmother through Jeff. SO, never mind...

Brian and Claudia were supporting characters. Who once in awhile had a decent C story. Which often last a week or two. From what i've seen it wasn't a major event. This wedding wasn't to lavish for this era. Do love seeing everyone acting like a community. This is so lacking in modern era GH.

Michael Gregory, the original Rick Webber, looked somewhat dorky in still photographs, but the actor was very charismatic and alluring; sexy AF. I always found his replacement to be cold and aloof, and quite uninteresting by comparison. Michael Gregory was HOT.

GH kept going through massive overhauls in the mid-to-late 1970s, before Monty and Douglas Marland arrived, but I was sorry that the show eliminated Terri Webber from the canvas. The actress who played her, Bobbi Jorden, was lovely, talented, and very sympathetic; she had major rooting value.

Of course, Richard Dean Anderson was sex on a stick back then. I might have been torn between Rick and Jeff when Michael Gregory played Rick, but after he left, I would have dumped Chris Robinson's Rick Webber in a heartbeat and run back to Jeff, LOL.

Bob Guza left toward the end of 2000 because he supposedly got fed up with not being able to tell his stories without interference. Wendy got the blamed and she was fired too a couple months later. That's why when Bob Guza returned in 2002, he negotiated in his contract that he would have an executive producer credit as well so he would have more power.

The other rumor was that Jill Farren Phelps had a contract at ABC, and Felicia Behr couldn't stand her and wanted her out of the New York soaps (she oversaw the NY ABC soaps at the time.) That was just a rumor at the time, I'm not sure the truth in it.

The ratings info I have are from a variety of sources, but mostly Daytime TV which published monthly ratings from a few months prior to publication date.

They don't detail whether the ratings they show are the monthly average or just the results from one particular week from that month.

Nonetheless they give a good guide to how GH was fairing pre Monty/Monty and Marland and then Monty and PFS.

By April 77 GH was not in top 10 soaps or top 15 daytime shows AMC, OLTL and RH all outrated GH. AW on NBC and All in the Family/Match Game on CBS were trouncing GH. ABC tried new writers to rev up GH.

Nov 77

GH not in top 15 daytime shows

ABC hires Doug Marland late 77 and then decides to expand to 60 min and hires Gloria Monty.

Jan -Aug 78

GH #6 in soaps 7.2/25 #8 overall. AMC was #1 soap in that time. So over those months show makes a dramatic comeback.

Nov 78

 #7 7.1/25

Dec 78

 #2 8.8/30

Jan 79

 #2 9.7/29

Feb 79

 #3 10.29

March 79

#5 8.0/27

April 79

#5 8.0/31

May 79

#6 7.9/26

June 79

#5 7.4/28

July 79

 #4 9.0/32

Aug 79

#2 10.2/33

Sept 79

#2 8.5/30

Pat Falken Smith too over in August 79.

    • Very. They're building up his story again and picking the perfect time to do so. As the SilkPress storyline climaxes and go off in several great directions, they are building up that story to take a turn.

    • @Soapsuds Thanks for posting Night by night Mon 8pm The Rookies edged Gunsmoke but attracted younger(more desirable) viewers.NBC failed with Born Free/Smothers Brothers (how many different series did those 2 get??) 9-11pm  Maude/Rhoda/Medical Center dominated on CBS,but Football and Movies were competitive on an occasional basis. ABC tried  SWAT/Caribe later in the season and the former worked for them. Tues 8-11 pm CBS all the way Good Times, MASH, Hawaii Five O,Barnaby Jones. NBC had the fading Adam 12,Movie and Police Story mmm...don't see that listed? ABC Happy Days, which ABC decided to keep despite lackluster ratings, the Movie of the Week and Marcus Welby-once pulling big numbers but no longer. 8pm NBC had a new hit with Little House, easily beating Sons and Daughters, which was axed and replaced with Tony Orlando, which did much better. ABC had That's My Mama and the Wed movie. 9pm Cannon was the lead here as Lucas Tanner failed to capitalize on the LHOTP leadin. ABC continued the movie. 10pm Manhunter started strong for CBS but petered out and was cancelled. Petrocelli manged to beat Get Christie Love, which was replaced by Baretta-no ratings winner but ABC decided to renew. Thurs Another CBS night with The Waltons and a movie. ABC counterprogrammed with Odd Couple/Paper Moon then Barney Miller/Karen NBC did even worse with Sierra and replaced it with Mac Davis which improved ratings quite a bit. However, it was moved to 9pm for Sunshine/Bob Crane 9pm Some good numbers for ABC with Streets of San Francisco fending off Ironside,Archer and Mac Davis. 10pm Harry O had a slim victory over Movin On Fri 8-11 NBCs best night Sanford/Chico/Rockford/Police Woman. 8pm CBS had high hopes for Planet of the Apes but it bombed. Replacement Khan did even worse. Paul Sand and We'll Get By were tossed in at the end of the season. With poor lead ins the Friday movie didn't deliver. ABC's odd line up saw Kodiak flop, Six Million dollar Man struggle and Texas Wheelers  quickly cancelled. Kung Fu was brought in @8 and Six Million moved to 9. Then Kolchak took over at 8 and Hot*l Baltimore/Odd Couple 9-10. Despite controversy Hot*l flopped. 10pm ABC tried Kolchak then Baretta and finally Get Christie Love Sat CBS lead  with #1 AITF then Paul Sand/MTM/Bob Newhart/Carol Burnett. Paul Sand lost too much of the lead in so CBS spun off The Jeffersons and it was a smash. NBC did OK with Emergency (which beat Paul Sand on occasion, thus hastening that show's demise) and a movie. ABC was a disaster with New Land/Kung Fu and Nakia all failing. They introduced a movie @9 and moved Kung Fu to 8. Sun  NBC  with Disney and Mystery Movie (Columbo McCloud, MacMillan and Wife/Amy Prentiss)did well. ABC flopped with Sonny Bono and recovered by moving Six Million Dollar Man from Fri as a lead in to the movie. CBS hoped Apples Way would be another Waltons but no, so Cher did what Sonny couldn't. Kojak and Mannix successfully finished out the night. Two other shows on the ratings list were Adams of Eagle Lake starring Andy Griffith. Only 2 episodes aired and did well, so I'm not sure what happened there. As for The Law it was a series follow up to a 2 and a half hour NBC special movie .

    • Trust is very easily lost and very hard to re-build.
    • Oh, I know it was. I was just talking about how it's not giving me parallels to Caroline dying. It's really as far from it as possible.  But about the foreshadowing - Hahahhahah. Yes. And you missed one - Liam googling - "what is cancer"...
    • GH 2-17-21 Denise Alexander's last appearance https://www.instagram.com/p/DJdjXgwJ1Ez/
    • @Maxim This Liam dying out of the blue was crafted in a hurry for three reasons: 1. To facilitate JMW's leave 2. To prop Steffy - 'Oh, Steffy has so much grace and moral superiority that she ignored everything that swine HoLo did to tell her for the sake of their daughters. Queen Stephanie would be so proud of her!' 3. Distracting Steffy enough to give Lunacy an easy way to slither into Finn's life. Once Luna discovers that Lame is dying, she'll play that card: 'Dad, life is too short and precious!' If this was an intentional story, we would've had the typical B&B foreshadowing - Liam faceplanting into a bowl of pasta, Lame missing meetings, being forgetful. Instead, Lame does an impulsive quick quit and $B doesn't even care enough to make a single attempt to get him back? Please.
