Meanwhile, that might be the most I've ever seen of Nancy Pinkerton's Dorian...and I enjoyed watching every cold and calculating moment of it, too, lol.  Don't get me wrong, Robin Strasser will remain "my Dorian" until the day I shake off this mortal coil, but I think if I had been alive and watching OLTL back then, I would've loved watching Pinkerton just as much.  In fact, I think I see how her Dorian really informed Strasser's take, in terms of her cunning; while Claire Malis' Dorian seems to have informed the layers of softness and vulnerability that Strasser would later bring to the role as well.  In the end, Strasser's Dorian really was a merging of Pinkerton's and Malis' Dorians, but shot through with her own panache and sense of humor.

I was going to post something similar! I love every second I have seen of Nancy Pinkerton’s Dorian. Strasser has said she was a fan of Pinkerton’s work on OLTL, and I also see where she brought some of that cunning and added her own flair for dramatics and as you said, that sense of humor. Strasser’s Dorian got to revel in the money and status that Pinkerton’s killed to get her hands on.

It is fascinating how one major story turn can provide decades of story on these soaps. Much like the Katherine/Phillip/Jill affair on Y&R, Dorian/Victor/Victoria really was an engine that provided. And like Y&R, the shows were always better when they mined those relationships between Dorian and Viki/Jill and Katherine.

Dorian sure was all up in every bit of Victor’s illegitimate children stories. Tony in the 70’s, Tina in the 80’s. And somewhat tied to Todd in the 90’s through Blair.

Thanks for finding these and posting them @Vee!

It literally just popped up out of nowhere in my phone notifications lol. I'd never seen the channel before. I was amazed I was the first to get on it.

The more I see of Kathryn Breech as Karen, the more I'm convinced she wouldn't have been up to the challenges that playing the prostitution storyline posed.  She would've done okay with the story - she wasn't the WORST actor - but the audience wouldn't have been as sympathetic toward her as they were toward Judith Light, whose performances even after the storyline was over always emphasized how much Karen was truly haunted by a lifetime of poor decisions and a struggle to be the kind of person whom Larry, Jenny and others needed.

I don’t think I ever saw self loathing played better on any show than Judith Light did as Karen. Even when she was nearly out the door her Karen is always haunted.

Also- Larry Wolek was a stone cold fox, and very watchable as a genial, nice person. He never comes across as boring to me in everything I have seen.

I would argue Michael Storm's brother James (from Dark Shadows, as well as the first Larry) was very slightly hotter, but not by much.

They can both get it as far as I am concerned.

We got a live one here. I'm surprised I'm the first on this. Appears to be video featuring Nancy Pinkerton's Dorian and her cohort Matt McAllister (Vance Jeffries). Apologies to anyone I haven't tagged (or anyone tagged who isn't into OLTL).

This is why I keep saying there is always more to be found. Because there is.

More, complete with slate:

Thank you so much! These are some rare finds. I cannot wait to sit down and watch both episodes.

This picture came across a msgr app feed today & maybe y'all will get a kick out of it. I know I did! For the AW virgins among you, she is pictured with Doug Watson who played Mac Cory on that show. They were excited to be Best Actor & Actress that year, which was 1980, I think. I'm sure someone will tell me if it's 1981 instead or something.

No, it is 1980. (JL wore black in '81.)

Such a grounded Dorian. Wow.

I had forgotten Vance passed in 2023.

In motion he reminds me of a somewhat more flaming Howard Hesseman.

THANK YOU! That's who he was reminding me of.
