Su was always so good at the Feud! There's an episode with the AMC cast where she earned all 200 points in Fast Money by herself.

Those specials were so much fun, used to love when GSN would rerun them in the summer months. I don't think I've ever seen this one with Joan Collins and Katherine MacGregor.

During the Guiding Light writers reunion, James Harmon Brown expressed some regret at having brought Jesse back from the dead on AMC, which surprised me as the Hubbard stuff was probably the one bright spot of E&B's tenure.

He didn't feel the story was a realistic or rewarding way to bring Jesse back (I assume referring to the Rob Gardner/Papel/diamond in a stuffed elephant nonsense) and that, while the viewers seemed to like having Angie and Jesse back, given how significant Jesse's death was for the show, "we really shouldn't have gone there" and resurrected him.

I'm pretty sure most viewers were just happy to have people they didn't hate onscreen.

The Wildwind Chronicles youtube channel has been uploading a bunch of stuff from Maria's return and I'm surprised by how much I don't hate it. The story almost works in a bubble.

This is basically how I felt about it at the time and now. From the POV of a soap bringing back two very popular characters from a better era and doing a great job of integrating them back into the then-current canvas, it was fantastic and wonderful and all of those things. I will always be grateful that AMC ended with Jesse and Angie at its core (both on ABC and with PP). The reunion at the train station was probably AMC's last big memorable scene.

On the other hand, I don't think a writer will ever feel satisfied with how he's written the resurrection of a character who had died onscreen 20 years earlier. Not only are you going through the heavy-lifting of explaining how this character really wasn't dead even as we had Angie resting on his dead body, but you also have to explain why he stayed away for 20 years when clearly this woman and his son are the loves of his life. And ultimately, as would be the case probably 99% of the time, the story they wrote to explain these things in regards to Jesse was terrible and convoluted.

The ends totally justified the means in this case, but I can see why JHB would feel "ugh" towards it. IIRC, it was quite a while into the history of the genre before a character was brought back even though we'd seen them die onscreen.

    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
