La Lucci issued a statement. It sounds like it was pre-written by PR.

On the heels of ABC’s shocking announcement that it will end its long-running daytime soaps All My Children in September and One Life to Live next year, AMC star Susan Lucci — who has played diva Erica Kane since 1970 — issued this statement: “It’s been a fantastic journey. I’ve loved playing Erica Kane and working with Agnes Nixon and all the incredible people involved with All My Children. I’m looking forward to all kinds of new and exciting opportunities.” Perhaps she should give CBS a call — we hear they’re hiring.

That Frons press release is so full of vapid, self-congratulatory, vaguely elitist blither and buzzwords that mean nothing - and I know from vapid buzzwords - that it is hilarious.

His job is not going to last long, either.

I'm totally shocked, but I guess the rumors were true. I thought OLTL especially was safe with RH's return. GH will be toast in Sept 2012. A very sad day. Poor Aggie! My mind is being flooded with happy memories of AMC & OLTL. RIP!

With the right writers and producers they could have done this with the soaps.

They didn't want the soaps to succeed. All that about listening to what viewers are telling them - they didn't listen to viewers with their soaps. And I doubt anyone told them they wanted to call something "The Chew."

All that about a variety of opinions is also BS. The View is one of the most one-sided shows out there.

For those of you asking what Susan Lucci's reaction to the news would be, well here is it, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly....

Lucci is DONE with daytime. DONE with the corporate smiles and most of all, DONE with ABC.

She is probably unbelievably furious.

Ken Corday better step it up and spend some money to fix his show asap or it will be next!

No No Days is done in 2013 when their contract is up. I've made my peace. There is nothing he can do now to save it. no One can

Anyone read Nikki Finke, who says that sources say Anne Sweeney wanted all 3 soaps gone. So those thinking ABC wanted to save GH to savor some sort of 50 year legacy

I think this says they don't care. It's about profit and viewing habits changing. These new shows probably only have to pull in a third of the soaps audiences to be viable.

A very sad day.

This is how I expected Lucci to react. I think she's been over AMC for quite some time, especially since the move to LA, and just stays on because it's comfortable and she has many friends associated with the show. She doesn't need the money, she's a brand herself.

So the AMC vs. OLTL cancellation war is over with both sides crushed in defeat by ABC.
