AMC: Lorraine Broderick named Headwriter

Eh whatever...

Daytime soaps are dead, I've accepted it.

I don't think this will make much of a difference. AMC seems destined to be a certain way regardless of who is writing it.

To be fair I don't think anybody here has really been arguing that balance is bad under DS & DK except for you until a few months ago. IJS.

+1. If anything the balance has been much better as these two are used to writing less for characters, from their GL days where characters weren't in 90% of the episodes.

Lorraine did baby switches at AMC, OLTL, and ATWT, although the babies weren't dead in those stories.

I know some people wrote Sue Johnson (who is essentially the ABC Daytime VP) last week pleading with her to let Broderick and/or Jeff Beldner plot the last months of the show because of their extensive history with it compared to D&D. I don't know how many people actually bothered to write her, of if that has anything to do with this (certainly the pleas for Broderick have existed since D&D were hired), but I'm just mentioning that that there was an concerted effort last week.

If she is being given the position so she can write the end then I actually appreciate ABC doing that. If she is being given the position as a last-ditch effort to save the show then, as has already been stated, it won't work because she isn't a ratings-getter.

If AMC has somehow managed to get a reprieve, I go back to what I said when this vigil started: fix the budget. Even if it means more scenes in that god forsaken park. As long as that's out of control, the show is more vulnerable than it needs to be. Fix. The [!@#$%^&*]. Budget.

It's funny how we get a bit of potentially good news and everybody starts clawing at each other like drag queens at a wig sale.

IMO she wasn't that great as interim writer and people say balance sucks? It'll get worse with her. I wasn't too fond of her giving Adam some idiotic long lost son and she rewrote Tad's history to give him Damon

Lorraine Broderick is the first writer to go the long-lost child route? At least it was Tad, who had no idea, and not a woman who was conveniently brainwashed to forget the hours of grueling labor.

And then there's the Rylee castle, I mean, anytime anyone starts to think either of them will ever move on, go watch those scenes. And remember who wrote them. ;)

A script writer?

Another head writing team out, while Julie remains. WTF???? Frons can't be that dense to see the common factor in AMC's problems.

A mirror?

So did MMT. But it's more the Erica stuff that has me seeing LB as interim again. I guess/hope we'll find out.

Yes. Ratings won't go up, but the budget can go down.

No she's not the first, but AMC needs another baby switch like it needs lower ratings.......

I know, it's probably me being paranoid and my hating the b*tch so much, I still smell MMT all over the Angie/Jesse stuff, and even more so in Erica's upcoming stuff.

I feel the same way.

ICA. As much as it sucks to say and hear, it is writers like McTavish, Pratt and Guza that are most able to get the ratings gains. Ironically, these are the same writers that eat away at long-time fans loyalty with their insanity.

Are they getting rid of JHC? lol ;) The show really has to get more efficient from the production stand point if this is really another chance, and not just a rainbow on the green mile.
