March 22, 201115 yr Member What will save OLTL is that it always come under budget unlike what some might want to believe that is really important. Why would a network cancel a soap that is just as cheap to produce as it would a talk show?
March 22, 201115 yr Member ALSO maybe OLTL will actually get PROMOTIONS and no longer be treated like the bastard child of ABC Daytime, if ABC invests a bit of money in promoting OLTL like it does GH, who knows what can happen? When AMC gets canceled, the OLTL fans need to seriously STFU about the "red-headed stepchild" nonsense. That "woe is us" bullshit isn't going to fly.

March 22, 201115 yr Member But the "maybe's" "might be's" "could be's" "ifs from unnamed sources to soap sites are gospel? They pretty much are, cause they ALWAYS say stuff like this, then like a week later it turns out true. They did this when it was said AMC was moving to LA. They even THE DAY BEFORE it was confirmed said they weren't moving the show. THe original source is deadline hollywood, which isn't some soap rag and from what I've read is as reliable as they come
March 22, 201115 yr Member Was deadline the site that said something about GL's cancellation just mere days before it was announced? Or am I thinking of some other place? Edited March 22, 201115 yr by Eric83

Why would a network cancel a soap that is just as cheap to produce as it would a talk show? I have to believe that it makes more sense to keep OLTL/GH as a block too. That has to be in OLTL's favor. I don't have a preference between OLTL and AMC. I want them both to live, but moving the time slot or having a gap between soaps, seems like a losing proposition.

March 22, 201115 yr Member Frons should've been fired a long time ago and replaced with Frank Valentini (OLTL EP) since he actually knows how to keep a show within budget When AMC gets canceled, the OLTL fans need to seriously STFU about the "red-headed stepchild" nonsense. That "woe is us" bullshit isn't going to fly. sensitive much?

March 22, 201115 yr Member I do think it's strange that ABC still isn't even hinting at confirming this. Don't get me wrong, I know that one or both of the shows will be gone soon, but with the years ABC has spent developing shows, I would think they would not keep denying, they would just say, "Stay tuned." I wonder if these other shows they have planned tend to fall through.
March 22, 201115 yr Member That's pretty much all he knows how/what to do. Doesn't that seem to be what is most important to the networks these days? I wouldn't be surprised if AMC is replaced by a Cameron Mathison talk show. Lord knows Frons has a weird obsession with him, Rebecca Buddig, and Vanessa Marcil Edited March 22, 201115 yr by OLTL #1 fan
March 22, 201115 yr Member Doesn't that seem to be what is most important to the networks these days? Considering what he is trying to sell to the audience is garbage...good for him for knowing how keep the show under budget. March 22, 201115 yr Member Don't worry about a timeline for OLTL, In 2007 Jeff Zucker the head of NBC said DAYS was unlikely to continue past 2009, as you know, DAYS is still on and its current contract keeps it on another year or so. Don't believe this BS some people are posting that OLTL only has months or a year. DAYS knew things were rough and made the changes they needed and its ratings improved so Jeff Zucker was proven wrong and DAYS was renewed past 2009. ANYTHING can happen in the tv biz, ABC could premiere the new talk show and its a ratings disaster and its canceled within six months, so ABC decides to stick with its soaps, so OLTL's so called 2012 demise never happens much like DAYS 2009 cancelation. OLTL could overtake GH as ABC's top rated soap, ABC could find a way to premiere a talkshow and keep its 3 soaps on the air, and the "dead" AMC could make a comeback, so until a cancelation announcement is made, ANYTHING is possible. Now with that said, I don't object to this discussion over thoughts of IF a soap is canceled should it be AMC or OLTL, but anything past that such as giving the surviving soap a timeframe before it is canceled as well is outrageous as history shows us, anything is possible. (place applause emoticon here) Thank you, thank you, thank you!
March 22, 201115 yr Member At least you're not bitter. sensitive much? I'm not bitter or sensitive but I suspect even you can see how ridiculous it would be to keep whining about how OLTL gets no respect once AMC gets canceled. Anybody still bitching then is just a punk getting off on the great OLTL Inferiority Complex. "Waaaahhhh Oprah didn't have Erica Slezak on! Waaaaahhh why isn't Strasser on Castle?!" Once AMC is gone, OLTL won't be able to hide behind that convenient excuse. It's going to have to hold it's own. You guys don't get to play the victim anymore. Edited March 22, 201115 yr by marceline

Compared to AMC, OLTL looks like the gold standard of soaps
