That was such a SHAME. The show was on fire with them at the helm. Their power struggle was the beginning of the end. I believe if ES and KA had teamed up it would not have been so easy for Sony to get rid of them. Scott's attitude ended up damaging both his and KA's position.

LOL I remember that! Dru was often being temp-replaced by Kent Masters King during that storyline.

You're right! I forgot all about it. So I gather he was the first Nathan? Wasn't the last one available?

Whoah I can't believe it. I don't see how AD would be a threat to MTS. I mean MTS has been the show's dame (after Jeanne) for decades. If this was the actual scenario I will love Ed Scott a little bit less from now on tongue.png

Wow, reading about all these behind the camera power struggles and some petty decision making, I guess it becomes less of a mystery how soaps have landed in the position they're in now.

It would've been great if people could've put egos aside for the greater good and went with what was best for the show and the health of the show. I guess TPTB never planned on times when things wouldn't be so flush.

You're right, no one could have ever thought that the show would be reduced to what it is today. I mean, I know I didn't. Otherwise I would have saved every single tape! LOL

You know, what really pains me here is that there was this man, Bill Bell, who worked hard to make his 'baby' soap so interesting and successful (I don't care that it's just a soap, when you are writing and producing something, especially for so long, it becomes like a child and those in the showbusiness know this) only to see the show get completely dismantled by selfish, short-sighted morons once he was sick and later dead. This is the worst part.

I feel the same about ATWT, how I wish I had saved my tapes from the mid-late 1980s!

But I can see why a lot of series these days only last for 7-10 years. Shonda Rhimes is already talking about how she knows how Scandal will end, which sort of reminds me of J.J. Abrams planning for the end of LOST. I think show runners in primetime don't want to risk having to hand over the creative reigns to others who might ruin what they've painstakingly created and constructed. They'd rather have that measure of control over the show's direction, even if it means that the show ends within a very finite period of time (of a few years instead of decades). I can't say I blame them.

Hi guys,

I've been watching Y&R since the early 90s and have been lurking on this thread for a while (working my way from the beginning)... I used to post episodes on youtube under this name but they deleted all of them... I decided to start uploading again... for now here is the 1994 primetime ep... hope you enjoy!

I'm sorry the videos were removed. Thank you so much for taking the time to post them again! I enjoyed the episode you posted a lot.

Y&R has the best score in daytime. Seriously.

I can't believe how slutty Nikki came off while flirting with Cole! I don't know much of Cole's history, but he was her daughter's dream husband! There's something that I wanted to ask you guys - I've seen clips of Cole & Victoria dating back to 1993 and others dating back to 1998 (the two of them were in a triangle with Shari Shattuck's Ashley, I think). Does it mean Vicky and Cole were an item for that long? Where did Ryan fit in all of this? From the flashbacks I saw in 2000, I thought Ryan was Vicky's longtime/endgame love... Can someone fill me in on the timeline?

I had to laugh seeing Cricket going all 'Rambo' in the gym LOL

So Paul's house later became Olivia's house. Did they explain it on screen? I loved that set.

Aunt Jack was at his best. He really looked like Nikki's gay best friend when he said he knew her so well. God only knows I've said that myself to a lot of my female friends too LOL

How cool was Drucilla stealing the key from Nate's apartment? Loved it. Loved the show. I'm in full Y&R nostalgia mode these days.

So glad you finally joined SON! :)

Thanks so much for the 94 Primetime episode! (The airdate is March 3, 94 btw!) I always was curious on how it was different then the afternoon show.....It seems like nothing is different except the scenes are longer, the music is a bit different and of course when we see the 95 episode they were allowed to show some "skin"...LOL

I love seeing Victoria stand up to Victor like that....I especially liked the clip they showed before the episode began during those "recap" clips! It gulls me that this is the same character that doesn't own a brush......

Loved Jack giving Hope a tour of Jabot and Victor's jealousy of it.....the lab looks a lot different. I guess they had to use more equipment because it was a nightime show.....I also loved Jack and Nikki scenes. It seemed rare for them to have scenes since they were or were about to get divorced soon.

Robert was a real scumbag, and that phone call with Heather and the hidden sexual innuendos in it were really creepy..... I really wanna see the episode where April stabs Robert.....I bet that was coming up soon.

This Olivia story is so strange, what brought this cancer thing back up here? I know she almost died in 2000 but what exactly happen here? the obsession with Nathan not giving back Baby Nate were weird, but well acted......You can sort of see how Nathan was becoming more of a slimeball himself.....It's easy to see how he could cheat on Olivia here....and that unfeeling look he gave her when she fainted......great ending!

Thanks again so much! :) can't wait for the others.....

Btw, I posted a topic on this on the video fourms but once again they went after my videos! Since this it the third time this happen I am going to just do what I said I would do before and make them unlisted and post them on here.....I actually have the first

2 parts of an episode from November 8, 1993 ready to share......I apologize for those who were keeping up, that I am going out of order because I had already posted November 3 and 4 1993 on here, but I really just wanna be able to share "new" stuff right away.

Enjoy! :) will post rest later tonite.

    • Now what was I just talking about? lol. I was not expecting to see Jacob today.    VERNON!!!!!!! LOL.
    • No Tea. No Shade. Just facts. Oooo...Kat vs Eva...the gift that keeps on giving.   I can't believe we are getting friction between Andre and Nicole. That said...loving these scenes.
    • LOL!!! We have no reason to think they are not hygienic!!!
    • Annnnd it's time!!!   Oooo more developing of the Anita story.   Bill and these hand moments.   OOOOOOOOO...it's a Jazmen episode!!!   So Nicole is hitting the anger part of her grief, I see.    Hehe. TIDE sighting!!
    • -- Kai spends more time in the hospital than anyone I know. I've never seen a patient held back from being discharged like this guy. -- All this concern over Lulu's adoption story is wild. Just what in the hell in that story will upset people? Am I missing something?
    • Except she was the last to know yesterday
    • While I'm waiting for the new episode to start...let's talk about yesterday's episode.   I honestly really loved it. THIS is what I mean when I talk about how there should be an A story that is dealing with its fallout while the next A story is being built. And then there was even a C plot going on.    The fallout from the Silk Press Sheila/Eva reveal continued. And there were so many elements in play. Beats were being played. And I loved every moment of it. Ted/Eva defiantly going to the country club and being more successful at it than Bill&Hayley. I love that Ted is willing to fight for his marriage. I really want to see where it goes. I didn't like the town gossip, cuz we already have one in Nosy Nurse, but she did keep the tension up. The Nicole/Dani dynamic as sisters being in play...and I'll be in the minority and say that while Dani was Dani, I didn't find her being self-absorbed at all in those scenes. She has already been established as being willing to go there. For herself. AND her sister. So her going in on Ted and Eva was like her. Her dragging her sister out of the house was also like her. No problems. And I can't say how much I loved Jan getting her moment with Silk Press Sheila. Not to mention how much I LOOOOOOVE the showdown between SilkPress and Eva at Orpheny Gene in front of everybody!!!! Giving old school soap. And SilkPress's warning she got more up her sleeve (with a snap) was delicious. And awww at Martin comforting Eva. Kat ain't going to like that.   Speaking of Martin...IT'S HAPPPPENIIIIINGGGGGG!!! Now we are getting words from the night in question. So good to see them FINALLY building out that OTHER A story they started. And good on Martin for backing out from the presidency. I already said I love that the writers found a plausible reason for him to back out. The plot point served its purpose...to get a sense of Martin's personality. Now that he's been built up so we know what to expect from him, no need for it. Moreso since SilkPress's presence will continue to trigger that secret right out of him. Fingers crossed.   And while all that goodness was going on...we got a B plot in the form of Doug/Joey/Vanessa. I like it. It's been allowed to grow. All POVs have been seen except for Joey's really. So seeing him put Doug on the hook officially (so this should be climaxing by end of May then since Doug has one week?) because he wants Doug to move money through Vanessa's business. I continue to wonder where it will go now that I know (and apparently missed it) what Joey's endgame is. I mean...will Doug do it? Will Joey get payback on Vanessa? Or will Vanessa fall into Joey's bed? I feel the show has done a good job developing Doug and Vanessa enough that I am invested in the story. Sidenote...ask and I shall receive aka Dani/Vanessa brief moment at the country club. I really miss them together.    As for the C plot...well...I'm in the minority as well. I actually liked the Ashley/Derek scenes. Not cuz the typical soap himbo scenes...lol...but it was just a nice counterpoint from the other stories going on. And it was just nice to have an episode with A, B, and C stories going on and NOT be jarring and ALSO no quick cuts to another scene. It FLOWED. I actually like Ashley and while her last appearances in solo Derek scenes were DOA, I felt there was more going on. At least this time. It was building on what was already growing...Ashley's annoyance at Derek moving in. Derek...being a typical guy. I am hoping that will go somewhere. And I love that we got another Jan/Ashley scene. At the moment, it's the only thing giving us a clue to Ashley's inner life. That said...I really do want to see her out of her story bubble. There's so much potential with her and her career as a nurse. Moreso given what's going on there.    As for the mysterious stranger...well...I wonder how they are going to play it. Since most of us (but not all so not discussing it farther) know a bit about him.    As for the coda...it is bittersweet now knowing it was Maurice's last scenes. I mean...what do you all think? A nice point for him to stop? We got to see Eva accepting by the father she always wanted to be with since Day 1. Nicole looks on. Quite soapy.
    • I love the thought of Eva becoming this huge celebrity hairstylist, and the future character crossover that can happen with fun cameos, too.
    • I assume the target audience is as distracted as I am by the plot hole that University Hospital does not own a means of production for Versavix, and that's where the profits are found. Researchers at publicly funded universities can profit from successful drug discoveries, but it is often a small percentage compared to the profits of the pharmaceutical company.  Thus, it makes no sense why both Xander and EJ would try to buy the hospital (and its right to the invention).  As opposed to buying a pharmaceutical company, which would make exponentially more profit from Versavix, as well as the many patents that they now own on Dr. Rolf's research!   And, that if Xander benefitted from his wife's knowledge about a drug being researched at her hospital, and one day later he made a bid for said hospital, that's called fraud as it is akin to insider trading. For example, if my husband was a real estate agent, and he told me to buy this undervalued property because he knew there was a $1,000,000 diamond buried under the toilet.  That would be fraud, because his duty would be to get the best price for his client.  But, if he would directly profit, because as my husband he would get half of the profits from the diamond, that's fraud.  And that's what Sarah did. She waited until the hospital was worth nothing to tell her husband to buy now for cheap, because it will be worth a fortune in future due to the drug (information she thought nobody knew but Kayla). Thus, she profits from the University's misfortune.  And once again, Sarah is the true evil mastermind of Salem.
