I thought Sandra Nelson was very good as Phyllis, and very believable in scenes with Michael Damian and Lauralee Bell.  She (and Gina Tognoni) grounded that character in ways that Michelle Stafford never could, despite her being the original actor.

Not to take anything away from Brenda Dickson or even Jess Walton, but Deborah Adair comes across more believably as Julianna McCarthy/Liz Foster's daughter.  If she had stayed, I could see her mellowing out eventually - not enough to turn her into Mary Williams, but enough to make her a strong, matriarchal figure nevertheless, like Liz before her.

    • I liked Reva, too, but as I've said before, no one at that show besides Pamela K. Long knew how to write for her or for KZ.  You don't plunge a character who is OTT by design into circumstances that are equally (or more) OTT.  The trick with a character like Reva Shayne Lewis is to keep the storylines as down-to-earth as possible and allow her emotions to be bigger.  I've always said that both Reva and KZ were at their finest when they were dealing with relatively mundane things like Josh's paralysis, her marriage to H.B. and her pregnancy and subsequent miscarriage.
    • I agree!  AE was just one of those performers who could draw you in, no matter what.  I don't believe I ever saw her phone in any performance on any show.  To me, she always gave 100%.  God, how I miss seeing her on TV every day.
    • Did OLTL have books in 80's like the other soaps that covered the early storylines of the show?
    • I liked (not loved) the character of Reva. I just didn't like how she ate the show.
    • I’ve spent a lot of time at the bedside of dying family members. These hospital scenes feel very real. The entire Days team is doing incredible work.

    • LOL!  Yeah that makes sense, it seems like many soaps have that one character like this.  I do find it sad the other vets just sit around in the later years.
    • WOW!!!   Just amazing.  Her acting was topnotch and this was only an audition.  I was totally drawn into the scene!  I seriously wanted to know what happens next!
    • Even if you put the rape and the fact he was married to her sister for so long, it's a bit hard for me to buy EJ/Belle have strong feelings for one another.  They've known one another for years and years and there was never any indication they were attracted to each other until recently.  Then the first time they hooked up EJ immediately dumped her, went on to marry Nicole and steal her own brother's baby, then slept with Gabi.  I don't see any appeal for Belle here outside the obvious. I do think MM and DF have nice chemistry though. On a different note, what is on Belle's shirt?  Are they people running, crawling, riding bikes, in wheelchairs, all of the above?  The shirt is so distracting.  Worn on TV wasn't much help as I still couldn't get a close up picture.
    • Kimmer had her fans (and she is a very good actress...) but most of them were "fanatics" like Brad Cole fans..she could take a crap in the middle of the Peapack Park Gazebo and Fran from Iowa would be posting how she "Knocked it out of the ballpark this time." It also didn't help that most of the show post Rauch was geered toward giving Kimmer story, no matter how dumb it was, so the rest of the vets sat around.  Its sad..as Kimmer is a good actress and Reva..Real Post Death Reva is a good character, but taken in small doses in an ensemble..and her fans could never stand (nor could Kim)unless she is front and center. Both she and Deas were so much better subtle actors as support (Reva was actually tolerable and rootable again when she was supporting others stories.)   LOL..Kimmer would still find a way to chew the scenery..can it be a weird, Dreaming Death type plague that hits Buzz too?
