Episode 11. And totally a misunderstanding on Garcelle's end.

Now everyone else's...??? If Episode 10 was about setting up Erika to have a big fall, this episode felt like the Coven needing a convenient scapegoat to me. As usual Kyle was background. It was telling when Erika had her meltdown that Ex Soap Opera Star was there with tissue ready and throwing daggers with her eyes at Garcelle. And then Dorit wanted to paint a picture...a comment she made earlier in the episode ironically about Erika. Felt a lot like gaslighting.

And I can't say those tears looked fake. As others have mentioned, were the tears real because Erika had been caught in a lie and thus, deflection? Probably. Such a careful house of cards she was trying (and doing poorly) to keep from falling. And...Oops!!! In any case, she's lucky Garcelle didn't drag her like how she drags Ex Soap Opera Star every chance she got.

That said...if this is about having a scapegoat, it is good to see Crystal and Sutton have Garcelle's back. She'll need it.

More notes...

KYLE. So sniper from the side. It was telling to me that the next day after Erika talked about Tom's crash, there she was with the Coven (+ Crystal) really and truly trying to save that 'Tom was mean' narrative. It made me wish that there was some way for Tom to have his own narrative. Not that he is not to blame, just because right now we really only have one person's word: Erika. And she has proven not to be completely reliable. Of course, she would sit back during Erika's meltdown. The better to have others do the heavy lifting. And lest, we forget...Kyle is the one with the wacky sister. God, she's so calculated.

DORIT. Hehe. Trying to be Team Coven and sneaking in to attack Garcelle, too. SMH. Bad look, honey.

EX SOAP OPERA STAR. Over there next to Erika playing Taylor McBride with those looks and arm moves. Speaking of calculated...THIS. She was just waiting to pounce on Garcelle for something. Trash box.

CRYSTAL. Didn't really do much, but have Garcelle's back. Good for her.

SUTTON. THANK YOU for having common sense. Of course, this meltdown is about something else. And definitely seem to be on the nose of what's up given her past experience.

GARCELLE. Heart was in the right place. Also due to past experience. It was clear a misunderstanding. And Garcelle has always established that she is a straight shooter AND a ride-or-die kinda of friend. And those friends WILL keep a secret if told. No one told her so she revealed something she shouldn't have. And she owned that. I also liked that she did not back down from anyone trying to gaslight her. That said...I hollered at the Hamzat suit.

ERIKA. I swear watching just makes me think of POTOMAC's Robyn saying you almost had me. For every moment I feel she gets a little real, there are so many more when it feels staged or fake. And I also have to keep in mind what she was doing online as this was being filmed on top of that, making it hard to be sympathic at all. And then jumping Garcelle? Girl, go look in the mirror with your sloppy self-editing work!! That's on you slipping, not on Garcelle for mentioning it when she did not know nor is she Jean Grey. You can have ALL the seats.

And just because I did not mention her, Kathy is still a hoot.

Part Deux of that trailer is below.

I really, really dislike that no-neck troll Jen Shah. Once again screaming and jabbing two-inch press-ons in people's faces. Get out of here with that sh!t. Why is no-one bringing up the leaked footage of her verbally abusing the designer?

When Meredith turned and said "WHO IS CALLING WHO A FRAUD?" I got chills! Yessh Meredith Marksh!

Heather once again desperate to be Jen Shah's BFF. Girl, she is going to use you and throw you away like Kleenex.

I didn't need to see Whitney covered in mud being spanked by her husband.

Too little Lisa Barlow in this trailer IMO.

Mary and the cult. We knew it was coming.

All Stars tea: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9891783/Dorinda-Medley-lead-Housewives-Mash-alongside-stars.html

If true, that is going to be quite the season! Dorinda, Vicki, Brandi, Taylor, Phaedra and Eva! This makes me more excited for this as a franchise, thinking of all the different combos they can come up with.

The Salt Lake City trailer looks EXCELLENT! I found Meredith and Lisa overrated in season one, but both look like they came to play. Also, what do y’all think of them getting the coveted Sunday time slot? Last season I always said I wasn’t worried about their time slot because you could tell Bravo was happy, which tells me internal data was strong. This only proves that.

I feel bad for Mary with this church/cult thing because I truly don’t think it’s a cult. It looks like a typicalPenecostal church to me and tbh, many churches feel cult like to me. Its odd that Lisa is accusing her of that considering the Mormon church history.

nuJen looks fun and old Jen looks delusional. I could see Meredith talking to the feds, but they’ve been investigating Jen since before the show filmed season one. She needs to get ready to go to prison.

Wow...

Dorinda NYC

Jill NYC

Vicki OC

Brandi BH

Taylor BH

Eva ATL

Phaedra ATL

Without sounding too repetitive with my wishful thinking, I wonder if this could also serve as a test to see how Miss Zarin will behave to see if she could return to the mother ship that is RHONY.  Same could be said for Vicki Gunvalson.

Meanwhile, I wonder when they'll finally release the 1st All-Stars special.

HAHAHAHA!!! So if this article is true...I called it right yesterday with Dorinda!!! Perfection.

As for SLC and the timeslot...AT LAST!!!! Last season the main complaint was its timeslot because their first season was FLAWLESS. And now putting it there...WITH POTOMAC!!!! I might have to keep two bottles of wine on Sunday.

SUNDAY NIGHTS ARE BACK, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • I was a bit confused with the Paige storyline at first but it's also helped that people on the board have been so kind to fill in gaps for me. It is nice to have a soap to watch again as I have not watched a soap in a very long time. It's also rare to see characters talk to each other without the scenes being cut into every 90 seconds.   That's encouraging. So far so good.    I am going to miss Raven as she added so much. I hope this doesn't mean that I'll see less of Geraldine as she is another character I'm drawn to. Hope Raven's absence is not a long one.
    • @Ryanc2 Welcome -you've got a lot of catching up to do! We talk about Derek/Ashley, but how much do we really know about Naomi/Jacob apart from they have a bedroom set to make out in? Maybe more time needed to be spent in the first months establishing them better-(give them a proper set for a start) as well as the Bill/Ted dynamic and other familial relationships and ditch Hayley/Derek altogether or make them supporting/talk to for Jacob/Naomi.
    • I’m glad we’ve spent enough time with the character to know how shed Brooke Logan her way through this.
    • Felicia becomes more layered/balanced in the early 90s (circa 1991/1992/1993).   She leans more into the more down to earth element that you like, while still being Felicia of the 80s.  The process starts in 1989.. but doesn't really become apparent until the early 90s.   Iris was the rare connector character with her having a role at the hospital (I think she's on the board), working at Cory Publishing, and having romantic flirtations/connections with a lot of the male characters between 1988 and 1994.  Which resulted in her having interactions with the other female contemporaries (Donna, Felicia, Rachel) even if the three didn't always interact with one another. Writing her off in the fall of 1994 severed one of the main connections/bridges with the different orbits.  Irony that the show didn't see her value.
    • Which is why I feel that when they do introduce that family it will more than likely be Jacob's family. Otherwise why establish them slowly but surely?
    • ROFL.  priceless.   There are also countless mentions how wonderful Claire is, but I could not stomach watching a compilation of that!
    • The air...is looooooooooong gone.
    • From what I remeber reading, it seemed as if it all completely falls apart post-Labine and Mayer around a year later when Ben is sent to prison around June 1976. Ben's departure undoes one of the major story threads that had carried the show for many months. Without a catalyst of Ben's ilk in the wings, there wasn't much to carry either story for the two women (Betsy and Arlene). Arlene was briefly paired in a one-sided attraction with Ray before becoming involved with Ian Russell. I believe the Schneiders introduced Ian as a suave businessman interested in Arlene who was also considering a dalliance with Meg. That would have been delightful but Upton arrives and quickly shifts the narrative to Arlene as a kept woman / prostitute (though I only think she was sleeping with Ian, but maybe I'm wrong).  I think it is Upton who transitioned Ben from complicated heel with a romantic appeal to a tortured, brooding romantic lead with a complicated past. I'm not sure that was the smartest move. Upton must have believed that Ben's near rape was his redemption arc, but I don't think it was enough. There is something deliciously wicked about Ben becoming involved with Mia after the death of Mia's stepson Jim Marriott, who had confessed his love for Mia before racing off on his motorbike and being hit by Ben's car. I could see the appeal, but I don't think it completely worked.  There should have been an angle involving Betsy (who had been a reporter I think when she first appeared) investigating Jim Marriott's accident, possibly with Jamie Rolins who was I believe district attorney. Betsy and Ben growing closer as Betsy grows closer to the truth. Ben confiding in Mia as Andrew continues to make Ben his surrogate son setting in motion the same dramatic situation with Andew's second wife being in love with his son/surrogate son.  I think Betsy and Jamie Rollins were together while Ben was in prison, but I don't think they had much to do. I may be wrong. Meg should have gone after custody making it seem like Jamie and/or Betsy were unfit leading to a case with social services which would have brought Diana Lamont back into the mix causing emotional angst for Diana as she works with Jamie to provide him the child she couldn't.  The Felicia / Eddie / Charles stuff seems rather generic once you get to Charles' paralysis and sexual dysfunction. Felicia's pregnancy and her death seemed to bring an end to a story that really wasn't strong enough to be frontburner. The Lynn Henderson stuff always seems rather movie of the week rather than developed for an ongoing story.  In the past, I agreed that it might have been possible that the story had become so disjointed that they needed to freshen up and add new story elements as Upton did but others have suggested that the elements themselves should have just been considered.   For example, I'm not a huge proponent of Rick and Cal as a couple, but I do think there was some mileage of actually reintroducing Barbara into the mix trying to reconnect with Hank, carrying a torch for Rick, causing conflict in the Sterlings marriage with Bruce and Van taking sides over Barbara vs. Cal, and Barbara maneuvering her way into the Beaver Ridge Complex making her business partners with Rick and Meg, which would give her a new rival.  When Ben returned, there should have been a question of how true his redemption was rather than just jumping in head first to a new role.  I think the Schneiders might have been script writers for Ann Marcus on "Search for Tomorrow," but I may be wrong on that.  Upton introduced the Marriotts in Janaury, 1977. Christian Marlowe's Andy Marriott seemed to be in the mold of Ben. I don't know if the story was any good, but I think Upton towards the end hinted an Andrew / Meg / Andy storyline which I thought would have been interesting. I think Upton had some interesting concepts, but from my understand, the execution was awful.
