I feel like the only reason Brandi wasn't full time is because the cast had more power with Bravo not knowing what viewers would take to. Now that we see how well liked Brandi is, it's easier to make her a housewife, even though you have others threatening to quit if that became a reality.

I wish the salary report had included the New Jersey housewives. I'm guessing one of the reasons for the Caroline/Teresa feud is because Teresa is making more money in season 4. Their initial contracts were for the first 3 years, just like the NY housewives. I can totally see Bravo paying Teresa more than Caroline & Jacqueline.

Okay, so after a weekend catching up on the New York housewives, I can definitely see why people loved Bethenny. She was so level-headed, smart, witty, and just didn't fly off the handle like others (Kelly, Jill). Jill is just a dispicable woman and I loved seeing her get called out on it at every turn at the season 3 reunion.

Ramona is funny as f#ck and I enjoy every minute of her. She just truly, truly entertains me. She's nutty but not in a crazy delusional way like others....

The worst housewife EVER I think is Kelly Bensimon. She is truly unbalanced. Her arguments were based on fantasy and paranoia. I cannot believe she lasted for 3 seasons because I was sick of her after her first year. I mean, she is truly, truly delusional. I think I would rather watch an hour of OC's Alexis before watching another moment of Kelly. I always wanted to see the episodes where she went crazy on the trip and boy oh boy did she ever lose her mind! And then she comes back to NYC acting like nothing happened and that SHE was the one being attached the whole weekend. She is truly batsh!t crazy. Wow, just wow.

Overall, I can definitely see why Bravo let go of Jill, Kelly, Cindy (big waste of airtime), but think they should've kept Alex to mix with the remaining ladies and the new ones.

Kelly was absolutely the worst. Worse than Taylor Armstrong in my opinion and that's saying something. At least Taylor had the sense to fly off the handle at opportune times...Kelly was just a sicko. I also agree that getting ride of Alex was a mistake, she wasn't a dipshit cow like Jill, Kelly or Cindy...but she WAS less glamorous than the rest of the pack, so I can see why they ditched her in favour of getting a Radziwill on board.

I bet Teresa probably makes in the 600k range. NJ is the second highest rated franchise, and I remember Season 2 Reunion with Teresa going crazy and pushing Andy was the highest rated episode of the franchise (it's second now behind ATL season 3 finale).

Caroline and Jacqueline are just.... there. They really don't bring anything to the table. They probably get something like 300-450k.

Kathy and Melissa, I would guess are in the 200-300k range.

I thought the loose butthole comment Juicy Joe made was funny. It is also funny how Greg stays talking sh-t about Teresa and Joe on twitter and behind their back but had nothing to say when joe tried him.

Caroline is just a vortex of suck. Why is she so miserable? I also highly doubt Dina and her are not speaking bc of Teresa. She would blame Teresa if it were raining outside. She kept saying she wouldn't let Teresa ruin it but she kept eye rolling and making comments.

Jacqueline is so lame. Ugh.

Melissa mustve been trying to plug her acting career in that one scene.

So why did Rosie come out to Kathy's children? That was so fake how wouldn't they know she was gay.

JoeGo is always talking about sex but I don't mind though ;)

The Lauritas/Manzos need to get the sticks out of their asses and stop acting like Teresa and Joe are oh so horrible. The stuff Juicy said wasn't even that bad annd even Jaime laughed it off.

It is contrived how a wedding like this is short notice and the only siblings that could come are the ones that are on the show?

Watched NYC Housewives for the first time bc of all the buzz over the new ladies. I really like Aviva and Carole. Sonja too.

Heather is really annoying. It is going to be interesting to see what she does as the season progresses.

No real opinion on LuAnn or Ramona.

Tre and Joe have made NJ hard to enjoy. He is.. not a good person, and his comments are awful and she clearly bends to his will. Truly one of the worst marriages to be on reality tv and that is saying a lot.

I love Jamie. I love him and Carolines interactions. I love how fake tre comes across, because she is. Chris Manzo is wub.png

as for NYC, i like all the new ladies, love Sonja. Romana and Luann were needed, but i hope both are gone after this season. Luann is with Tre and Nene and Kyle as just simply awful now as opposed to the reason to watch in early seasons - to the point of being hard to watch at all now, for me, actually

VANC-

I think its funny the mexico vacation episodes of this and OC are both airing, they are at the same place, and had the same issues/complaints (long drive, no help with bags, etc).

LOVE Mary, Christina. Love to hate Jody. Hate Ronnie, but love her at the same time. Reiko? Why is she here? Replace please.

If the ending preview is any indication, this season's NYC is going to be crazy good! I see Ramona vs. LuAnn as being like ATL's Kim vs. NeNe, where each has their faults and nobody's innocent. It was definitely petty and childish for LuAnn to have that brief hen party with the new ladies just to gossip about what Ramona allegedly threatened.

What Ramona and her husband said to Heather at the party about her always interrupting people was tacky and hypocritical, but you know what? I don't care. Haha. Call me a hypocrite, but I always have my favorites that can pretty much get away with anything and I still like them because of their overall personality. smile.png

I think the new ladies are okay, and it'll be interested when they start turning on each other. I must say, and I admit I'm being completely shallow, but all 3 new ladies kinda look weird. They all have weird, quirky looks to them (another reason why Alex should've remained -- she looks weird too!) Aviva is probably the most interesting, followed by Heather. Carole seems like she's going to be dead weight, but we'll see how it plays out. She sounds like an old woman in the opening (interesting updated opening, by the way! I'm surprised the 3 veterans are at the tail end!).

It's interesting, how Real Housewives seems to be using a formula for all their shows: pit all the women against one woman. NYC has Ramona this season, ATL is NeNe, Jersey is Teresa, and it sounds like Lisa may be ganged up on next season in Beverly Hills, although Taylor could be the real center of drama.

I haven't seen NYC yet, although I can't wait, but ratings were not good! Especially for a heavily promoted premiere of an established housewife show. It got 1.6 million for the first airing and 1.0 for the second airing. Hopefully with word of mouth it'll improve. The previous season was pretty big ratings wise. I think they definitely missed the mark in dumping Alex, who is probably more relatable to viewers. Now we have to wait and see how people take to the new wives. I'm in love with Carole and Aviva from what I've seen.

    • If a soap actor or behind the scenes figure was roasted at any point in time, who would you have at the main table? This topic came about when I imagined a Friends episode (Joey, of course, would bomb at roasting). The Roast of Deidre Hall, circa 1997 Roastmaster: Drake Hogestyn Roasters: Jed Allan, Wayne Northrop, Joseph Mascolo, Eileen Davidson, Christie Clark, Alison Sweeney, Ken Corday, James E. Reilly, Andrea Hall, Jane Elliot, James Reynolds, Shannen Doherty, Wilford Brimley, and Frances Reid.
    • Amanda has been giving it to Abby ever since her and Chance walked in on them together. So great to hear.   I can see that. Lily and Damian are always a highlight to me.
    • I recall @Chris B asking about this but here is an interview Sheri Anderson did with SOU back in the fall of ‘89: Here is an article that I think is interesting, it is an interview with Shery Anderson, screenwriter of the ninth season THE WRITE STUFF: FALCON CREST’S SHERI ANDERSON: FROM DAYS TO NIGHTTIME By Richard Spencer Soap Opera Update, 1989 : At a time when the success of nighttime soaps is shaky, Sheri Anderson, former headwriter for DAYS OF OUR UVES, ANOTHER WORLD, GUIDING LIGHT and GENERAL HOSPITAL, makes the jump to the evening format with some new ideas to help strenthen the CBS California vineyard based soap opera FALCON CREST. "FALCON CREST is going to have a differnet tone that it never had before," headwriter Sheri Anderson expiains. "The people that I am working with are kind of an interesting mix. The executive producer, Joel Sumow, did the first years of MIAMI VICE and THE EQUALIZER, Bob Cochran, a Harvard MBA,and Cyrus Nowrasteh, who has done a number of features, are story editors. I am co-porducer, with a history in daytime, so we are a real different mix. We all kind of balance each other out in different ways. I am sort of the emotional side (coming from daytime) and they are more the gritty side." A lack of focus is what Sheri attributes to FALCON CREST's problems the last few seasons. "No one , seemed to knwo that the characters' motivations were. Pilar was a real good example. No one seemed to know what she wanted. This season it is clear that Pilar wants Lance. That is really her dream and goal tokeep Lance. She will do anything to do that. She will be making some sacrifices thís season that really jeopardize her relationship with Lance." While Pilar's character may be strongly in place, Maggie's is not. How will the show restructure in light of Maggie's drowning? " We are not trying to replace her, but we are adding another kind of strong heroine character. That character is Laruren Daniels. She's very earthy; married to a construction worker. Lauren. is the sister of Michael Sharp, Gregory Harrison's new character. "Michael is an extremely powerful adversary to Richard Channing. He will be more cynical than Richard and less emotionally motivated. For Michael it is all power and money. The audience will be more sympathetic toward Richard. He will be going through hell," Sheri reveáis with doom in her voice, "...Paying for his past sins " The complete opposite of Richard or Michael's intensity is the the new character of Charlíe St. James."Charlie is every woman's foolish choice," Sheri character sketches. "He's kind of indescribable; charismatic, totally unpredictable, charming, unnervtng. He's coming in as a love interest for Emma. He will be the first man to make Emma feel like a woman. She's really not victimized by him...she’s addicted to him. Charlie's presence will make her a little less flakey this season." But Emma is not the only one in store for major personality changes, also in the categroy is Frank. "We arebringing back somebody from his past," Sheri reveals "there will be a great secret that will come to ight." Speaking of characters from the past, are there any Sheri would like to return? "Everyone is fond of Ana-Alicia in her original role. At this point we don't have any plans to bring her back because we have some other character that are going to take the forefront." And if one thing is going to remain the same, it will be what Sheri recognizes as the theme of FALCON CREST "Quest for control of Falcon Crest. We have people trying to take control, and they are all taking it for different reasons. Some are emotioanl, some are revenge, but they each have a different eason for which they want Falcon Crest. And that is really the pivotal center. It is very earthy." Keeping the core of lite show intact is not the only thing nighttime shows have to do to stay interesting and acording to Sheri"I din't think night time shows have kept paces with changes in the viewing audience," Sheri answers by analyzing what exactly is primetime soaps* problem. ln datyime, you do over the years the shows stay on, but you are adapting to what people are accepting:faster-paced, or slower, or addíng more comedy, depending on the audience, and what they are buying. I don't think some of these shows in primetime have done that "We are trying to make the show as much episodio as it is continuing. We are cutting down the number of scenes in each act to get the audience more involved. But some of the shows, and this happens in daytime al so, don’t let the characters really grow," Sheri certainly made chracters develop during her daytime career, but especially on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, which is the source for her favourite stories of her careen ”When Víctor carne to Salem and revealed tha the was really Bo’s father, it caused such a ripple effect for Kim, Shane, Román, Bo, Hope, Caroline and Sean. I also liked bringing Kayla back for Patch.” Having written for Kristian Alfonso' s Hope (DAYS) and now Pilar on FC, Sheri distínguishes between the two characters. "Pilar is a woman, but Hope was growing up. Hope was more innocent and Pilar is not Pilar has an intelligent strength where Hope did all the wrong things for all the right reasons." Pilar wíll be the only one retuming from her family, while Angela Channing’s appearances will be limited (per Jane Wyman's contract). "But Richard will be taking a very strong role which is very similar to Angela Angelad presence will be felt in every epísode/ Sheri informs. A lot of people complained about the women of FALCON CREST being wishy-washy They certainly aren't this season Sheri emphasizes. "Lauren will be strong, especially after her brother Michael steais Richard’s children and places them with her, Frnak’s step daughter will be very devious, indicateive of Kathleen Turner in “Body Heat” And Gregory Harrison is fabulous," Sheri reports with joy. "He is so different from his character on TRAPPER JOHN, M.D He is very similar to Michael Douglas in the film 'Wall Street'. FALCON CREST viewers will find a much richer textrae, getting away from the glamour and really going to substance and style." Sheri concludes, "it will be a show to watch, We are trying to bring in a new audience, and at the same time, respect our past audience."
    • Well, if he's had a series of mini-strokes along the way (which, IIRC, he did), then that influences things. I can say, from my experience of having had two full-blown strokes, that recovery periods were very, very different, both in terms of difficulty and length of time.
    • Whhhhhhhhhhhattttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was everybody out this weekend.
    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
