I definitely did not mean to if I did. They were long gone. We agree that they were long gone.

I don't consider EW to have had shoddy production values. I do defend Wheeler's productions value, yes.

I meant by that to acknoweldge that they did have to learn to write TO the new medium and that they didn't initially know how to write to it.

By that I just meant that having ConWest hanging over, was in their way when they needed to be getting on with the business of proactively teaching themselves how to write for the new production model. Didn't Ellen Weston stay a whole year in the way? She was the Writer.  And. Conboy was the Producer but he was the Producer who was spending more than his share of budget, spending budget that Wheeler would need, etc.

Well, if it seemed like that, I'm sorry it did because it was not what I meant. The effects of what Weston wrote infringed & the amount that Conby spent infringed. But, they were gone. We agree that they were gone.

Hangover.

I  just love giving you a laugh!

Worst EPs ever: I name John Conboy over his brief tenure at GL. I name JFP over 4 shows including the murder of Frankie Frame at AW & killing Mo at GL. To me Ellen Wheeler did a great job with the new production model and with the stories of Otalia & Jammy & the new show music & themes. She also came up with budget to make up for a deficit Conboy created.

I couldn’t stand Jonathan and he was yet another way I saw Reva continuing to take airtime from other characters. He never should have been brought back after we finally got rid of him and I still hate to this day he never paid for stealing Lizzie’s daughter from her. Why was Phillip wasting his time in ‘09 throwing Grady over a cliff when he should have thrown Jonathan over a cliff?

While I never had strong feelings over the Otalia story one way or the other, I still think Olivia was a pretty ridiculous choice to all of a sudden go that way with her previous romantic history and I did think they were overrated to the extreme.

I still wish Marcy Walker hadn’t been so misused as Tangier’s Hill. Under better circumstances I think she could have done well. She had a good vibe with the rest of the cast.

Now, I loved Jonathan, hated Sandy & that danged hand puppet. Oy, Ellen Weston, loved Jammy, and loved Jonathan & Sarah. Bill & Lizzie were good together. I found Reva to be too much there at the end & with Jeffrey O'Neill. I don't like doppelgangers. Prince Richard was enough. We didn't need him back after that. Loved Otalia & their international popularity.

You contradict yourself Donna. In another thread, you posted about Frankie’s murder being the brainchild of Susan Lee at NBC and Margaret DePriest. JFP had nothing to do with Frankie’s murder. Getting back to GL, again, you post incorrect information. Jonathan and Tammy happened well AFTER Ellen Weston left GL, but you claim that Ellen Weston loved Jammy. Please post facts and not fiction. Thank you.

No, VR, I'm not contradicting myself. Susan D. Lee AND JFP  were behind the murder of Frankie Frame. Margaret DePreist was the HW of it. The idea of doing a focus group to decide which female to murder came out of Susan D. Lee AND JFP. JFP was definitely a part of Frankie's death. Read up on it at the AWHP. You're woefully behind. WLS.net blames her, too. I never said that Ellen Weston liked Jammy. Ellen Weston gave us Sandy & that damned sock puppet & Maryanne Carruthers & Carrie Nye & a bunch of other stuff but NOT JAMMY. Please get your info straight.

    • Just caught up and these episodes were absolutely amazing! Ambyr Michelle was soooooooooo good, and I felt so bad for Eva, I actually teared up. I love that Andre was nice to her, that was my favorite Andre moment of the series thus far.

I don't need to warn you that if you like this & want to keep it download it. Now, isn't she positively amazing?!!! Well, IMO she is. This is only the first episode that I've got her in. I think there will be more.
    • All true, and all an enormous problem on this show. -- The business stories are maddening because none of it makes any sense, none of it has any connection to the real world. As you said, sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers, and job switching is not a storyline. -- The deck chairs are constantly rearranged on the Titanic -- that's what this show is. Summer, Chelsea, Sally, and Chloe have been in design for how long? And we've never seen ANYTHING from them. Carrying around an iPad isn't enough. BOLD is terrible, but at least they show us dresses from Kohls and jewelry from Amazon. -- I know it's baked into the DNA of the show, but I will never enjoy seeing Jabot and Newman treat each other as if no other companies exist in the entire world. A new magical line of cosmetics is not going to bring down a company like Jabot. -- This is a writing problem, not a budget problem. An enormous amount of cash is not needed to write compelling business stories and show real products. This is writer LAZINESS.
    • Right? GOD FORBID Vanessa be allowed to cut her own mother-in-law down to size, when REVA REVA REVA needs a rival to sharpen her claws on. RME I mean, they could have, but Long and Curlee (like most HW) seemed to forget about characters once they left town. If they mentioned Trish five times in the ten years she was gone, I'd be surprised.  Yeah, Alex didn't really do friendship, other than Lillian. And most of the time, Henry.  And somehow, by the time she leaves, Sonni is some friend of Mo's? Mo is just everyone's default "friend". SMH.
    • I really have no problem with Kai as a character or with the actor. The problem is putting together two very nice people -- Kai and Trina. Neither of them has a bad side, neither of them has a devil on the shoulder, neither of them is impulsive. I think that's a problem in a soap relationship. Yeah, I agree. All this freaking out might make sense if Lulu wanted to do a tabloid expose on BLQ's LOVE CHILD. We have no indication that's the case.
    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.
